Reviews for The Early Years: With Anor's Rise

    Nice ending.

Poor Thranduil. Another one all grown up.

I like how the initiation experience has released some previously suppressed aspects of Legolas's personality -- a certain cheekiness and confidence. He was always informal, but now he's so much more relaxed, and he has the slight cockiness that's so typical of your Legolas in P3. Though I suppose the blushing will never go away. I hope not, anyway.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the wonderful comments. I am delighted with the positive reaction to this tale.

I also wanted to address an issue that Blaise mentioned. Though she left an addy, it is such a good question that I decided to respond in general. In my LotR universe, which I freely admit is rather sexist in many ways, majority rites are a custom exclusive to young males and the ritual always involves an older male. Think of the rites as a part of the 'warrior culture', if you will.

Another thing to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day....a new installment of P3. A thoroughly "satisfying" chapter. I found it a little distressing, yet so typical Mirkwood, that Legolas would get his "first kill" ring before his "first love". Legolas was considered adult enough to be allowed out on patrol and involved in life and death battles before he was allowed to take a lover but I guess somethings are neccessary. I was much gladdened to find Haldir the most willing partner and not just just the clinical mechanisms that Anteruon got but then again that could definitely be a reflection of their personalities. I was surprised though to find that Anteruon's first was a male ( at least I'm inferring this since it was one of Thranduil's senior advisors, guess that's sexist of me). From his reaction to Legolas' preferences and his own struggles over his attraction to Dan, I would have surmised a female counterpart. But I could be misinterpreting the ritual; are all male elves required to take a male lover as their first? Thanks again for the great fic!

    Awww.

Legolas is just so -- young.

And it's sweet that Thranduil knew his son well enough to realize that outdoors, in the daytime, might be a more comfortable setting for Legolas than inside in the dark. Almost makes up for the way he blew it with Anteruon.

(incredulous laughter) Oh my! How wicked of you to put him in such a position!! LOL. Having the great ancient lords greet him first! tis a wonder he did not run and forgo this opportunity instead! Well, you must make up for it by sundown tomorrow!

I was so happy to see your new entry. I know you had said you would give us some shorts to tide us over until the next 3 Princes installment but I wasn't expecting something so quickly. However, I'm not complaining!! So we finally find out about Legolas' de-flowering huh? It's only fair since you gave us the wonderful rendition of the twins. How disturbing it must be for Legolas for everyone in the realm and in this case, probably everyone in all the elven realms knowing that you about to lose your virgintiy? It was quite entertaining seeing Legolas' reaction to each potential suitor. Could you imagine if it had been Elrond? Those eyebrows in the bedroom must be somewhat disconcerting...and what effect would that have had upon Legolas' relationship with twins? Haldir will be interesting to see. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Oh, poor baby! To even have to think of the possibility that he might end up with one of those august personages!

Haldir is a MUCH better choice. But it's still a nervewracking occasion.

    Please update soon.
