All right, I don't get it. Glorfindel couldn't have travelled withthese guys all this time and mistaken what Erestor looks and sounds like. Is Erestor gifted the power of changing his appearance and voice? Does Elrond know of the deception. Is it that everyone else knows Glordindel is Erestor's lover but Glorfindel doesn't? And no one knows that Glorfindel is being deceived??

    What is going on??

I like your story, first of all. I appreciate work that helps fill in from the Silmarillion to the LOTR times.

I was confused when you switched to a flashback. It didn't make sense sat the time (why there?) and I percieved no message that you were skipping back to the past. Maybe using a date to indicate the leap backward? Maybe a different script? I don't know . . . something.

Anyway, I will read on. Thanks for writing.

I am really enjoying this story. The last chapter was especially wonderful, with equating the saving of books with their histories and all that is contained within their pages to the saving of lives in a way. Looking forward to more soon!

Good start, but it's a pity you flew through the ealier part of the Second Age so quickly. I was looking forward to reading what Gil-galad thought of the newly returned Glorfindel. Well, maybe you'll have Gil-galad visit Imladris or something (please?). I'll keep reading!

I don't read Glorfindel/Erestor usually, but I decided to give this a try, hoping to finding good fiction about everybody's favorite balrog slayer. I hope you will write more of this, it is so hard to find good stories with this pairing, and this first chapter already shows that you haven't fallen to the same boring old fanon characterisation. More please!

Thank you for your comment! Concerning Glorfindel’s name for Gandalf. Well, I am from Yorkshire, and we always sit down in the evening to eat ‘tea,’ but that doesn’t mean I can’t go out for ‘dinner.’ As for the halfling – I did already ask for forgiveness if I made any ‘small’ mistakes *g* And with respect to your last point there, I would like to draw your attention to the sentence: “He didn’t know where he was going […]” which didn’t strike me as being particularly ambiguous.

    Cheers,

    Pip :)

Too short to know if I like it or not, but you said you intend to keep to canon. So I thought to point out that elves called Gandalf Mithrandir and there should not be any halflings so far west in Lindon during Second Age, if they were around at all, then east of Misty Mountains. How would Glorfindel know of the existence of Gil-Galad's kingdom in Lindon anyway when his last memory is his death?
