Bah, I pressed "review" by accident. Well, number three I was going to say that I liked this bit:

    -.-.-.-
“Don’t be fretting about that - good ol’ Gorbag’ll be ‘elpin’ you, won’t ‘ee? Bin thinkin’ I might be able ter vouch fer yer character and that. Stand as guarantor you’ll not do - whatever it were again. Not thinkin’ of doin’ it again now, are we Shaggers?” he added archly.
    -.-.-.-

I love the way Gorbag, in the best tradition of Tolkien's Orcs, exhibits this weird dynamic: bloody-minded sociopath mixed with a genial facade and a kind of faux-propriety and sense of the Correct Way To Do Things. Good form an' all that. Anyway, I'll leave off there, though I could say more.

This was much better than the suggested epilogue, with imaginative, brutal details that nonetheless ring very true to the situation and to the personalities involved. I liked that it was mainly from Gorbag's point of view and you write him most engagingly, horrid individual that he is. The piece is short and very tight and makes a good sequel to Nazgul's Prey. It's a bleedin' shame that you haven't gotten more reviews on this, but then again, I didn't review it in a timely fashion either - it's been up for months now - so I guess I'm not allowed to criticize the other slackers out there. Highlights:

    1. "Gorbag liked a project, and like all Orcs he’d always been something of a fixer-upper." Great opening line. Not something you would think about Orcs until someone else says it, and then it makes sense at once.
    2. More slang and other euphemisms for male sexual organs than you can shake a big dong at.
    3.

Okay. Now I've calmed down a bit and can hopefully leave a coherent and proper review of some sort.

Well, first, since I love your other stories featuring Shagrat so much and naturally read them first, I found myself feeling truly bad for Shagrat as featured in this story - sitting there, in the darkness by himself, pumped full of Mordorian concoctions and whatnot. Made my heart ache quite a bit for him, you've done a wonderful thing, see, with your other stories, make me really feel for Shagrat who in truth was an Uruk I never paid all that much mind to with the books or movies sicne my mind was always on either Gorbag or Ugluk. Thank you. I do love old Shaggers now... tee hee.

Second, your depiction of Gorbag was very nearly perfect - like I said in my earlier, blubbering review, Gorbag is my fave Uruk/Orc (Uruk/Orc depends on if one is to heed to the books or movies, of course), and the way he was depicted in the movie just really, well.... it made my orc-fancying self go into overdrive. And I am so happy so read a story featuring him other than the couple modest ones I've written meself. And you write him so well, his mannerisms, his speech.

I got a couple of really hearthy laughs out of this one too - in a good way! - especially the following line:

Gorbag’s cock, though long enough, was thin and spindly and looked more like something you’d expect to find growing on a potato that’d been kept too long in the dark.

Haha, oh my, that was excellent.... loved it. You have such a way with words and descriptions that I cannot help but to envy you to no end. And, of course, your dialogue is always such a treat to read.

Well, in any case... hope this review made a wee bit more sense, eh. As you know I'm not a very good reviewer, but I do admire your stories beyond words. And I hope you have many more planned out... =)

OH YE GODS. I love you, you know. You bring us another stellar story featuring Mordorian characters - and Gorbag, no less! Seriously, I think I might read it five more times now. Gorbag is my favorite uruk, there's a boy that gets my blood boiling in a very good way. Ahh... I am in pleasant shock still, methinks, just blubbering joy at the moment. Time to read it again. Will try to leave a more in-depth review when my brain isn't melting with excitement.
