The Promise
***Where are you?***
***I am here here ***
***I cannot find you where are you?***
***Here, Elladan here ***
He tossed violently in his sleep, his unseeing eyes turning rapidly in their sockets, his arms and legs flailing, throwing the clean, white sheets to the floor.
Elrond, his eyes still red with grief, threw himself over his son, stilling his movements so that he would not rip open the wounds Elrond had so painstakingly treated mere hours before. Slowly the thrashing body of his son stilled, and he slept peacefully again.
Rising from the bed, the Peredhil Lord felt the hand of his Chief Advisor on his shoulder. "He feels him, Elrond in his dreams, he feels him," Erestor whispered, his own eyes mirroring the sadness in his Lordship's.
Nodding, Elrond allowed Erestor to lead him away, while other healers drifted closer to the bed to begin their watch over the injured form of one of Elrond's twin sons.

***Elrohir! Where are you? Why do you hide from me?***
Elladan pushed madly through the thick underbrush of the forest, unmindful of the burrs and thorns that battered at him. Calling out loudly for his twin, he searched every tree, every inch of ground for some sign of his brother's passing. He could feel him closeby hear him in both his head and his heart, but as yet could not find him.
***'RO! Answer me! Where are you?***
***Here, tór I am here ***
Bursting through the edge of the forest, Elladan found himself standing at the edge of a sheer precipice, sea birds flying and darting in the empty space before him. His heart in his throat, he looked down the precipitous drop, barely able to look, afraid of what he might see dashed upon the jagged boulders at its bottom.
Relief washed over him as he saw nothing but the waves crashing around the rocks, sending up their spittle of sea green foam.
Turning to make his way back into the forest, he was astounded to find himself looking at his father's house, though as if from a long distance away. His keen eyes spotted a familiar figure standing on top of the hill on which Elrond's House sat, waving at him. Trying to run, he felt as if his legs were mired in mud, unable to move them but an inch. Muscles bulging, his face reddening with his efforts, Elladan tried to force his uncooperative legs to move, screaming in frustration.
***Elrohir! Help me I cannot move!***
***I cannot come to me, Elladan I am here ***

"I wonder, does he even know?" Elrond whispered, cradling his head in his hands as he sat at the table in his quarters, the room lit, but only barely, by candlelight.
"I shouldn't wonder if he did, my Lord," Erestor whispered back, gently stroking the ebony tresses of the Peredhil Lord, trying to ease his sorrow, knowing full well that he could not. "Never have two been as close as they one heart, two bodies "
"I cannot lose them both, Erestor not both " Elrond's voice dissolved into soft sobs.
Erestor could do nothing but hold him, rocking him gently, trying to absorb and buffer the tremendous grief that poured from Elrond's soul.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***Elrohir! Enough of these games! Show yourself!***
***Here, Elladan here here ***
***I cannot see you, tór! I cannot ***
***I am trying, Elladan ***
***Tell me how to find you I cannot bear being apart from you, tór***
Again he tossed in his bed, the sheets soaked with both sweat and blood as his wounds reopened from his harsh movements. The healers fought to keep him still, finally having no recourse but to tie his limbs down to the bed, else he do more damage to himself.
Still he struggled against his bonds, tears streaming down his handsome, though incredibly pale face. His guttural moans tore at their hearts, though they could do no more for him than they already were doing.
Toward evening, he stilled again, and they tried to get him to accept some water, spooned carefully through his dry and cracked lips. It dribbled down the sides of his mouth, making the healers cluck their tongues, and hang their heads in despair.
Elrond again came to sit at his son's side, holding one chilled hand in his, rubbing it gently. "Ai ion nin elu nin wake for me " he whispered, lifting the trembling hand, brushing his lips against the cold skin. He felt his heart break anew as his son again began to thrash against the silken bonds that held him to the bed.
***Elrohir! Is that you? I can barely see you, tór ***
***Aye, it is me come come closer here ***
Elladan pushed through the billowing white fabric that shielded his eyes from the form of his brother, silken barriers to his goal. He could see the dark outline of Elrohir's form through the semi-transparent weave knew him at once from the stance he took, though his features were indiscernible through the layers of white.
A final strip of white stood between him and his brother, a thin, transparent wall through which he could see his brother smiling at him.
***'Ro 'Ro *** Elladan cried softly, reaching his hand to place it against his brother's, the thin white material the only barrier between their skin.
***'Dan *** Elrohir's voice cracked, catching in his throat as he felt the heat from his brother's skin radiate through the sheer fabric.
With a ripping that he felt more than heard, Elladan tore away the final barrier that stood between him and his brother, revealing the smiling face of his mirror image. Smiling broadly himself, he stepped into his brother's embrace, sighing as felt his twin's strong arms encircle him.
Elladan's own arms snaked around his brother's back, crushing him to his own body, his head resting in the crook of Elrohir's neck, as Elrohir rested his own on Elladan's broad shoulder.
Stepping back a bit, Elladan took his brother's lovely face in both his hands, his eyes traveling the familiar planes of Elrohir's countenance, stopping to gaze deeply into the dark gray eyes of his brother, his lover.
"Meleth nin " he whispered before claiming his brother's lips with his own, every fiber of his being rejoicing at the familiar taste. He felt Elrohir's tongue flick lightly across his lips, and he willingly received it, his own lashing at it ardently.
Impatiently, Elladan pulled and tugged at his brother's clothing, wishing desperately to feel the warmth of his skin against his hand. With practiced hands, both twins undressed each other, sliding their fingers slowly across the ripples and bulges of their forms, so alike so warm so firm.
Eagerly, they explored each other's flesh, hands and mouths traveling the paths so well known to each other.
His moans changed character no longer harsh or demanding, instead becoming soft and breathy. Curious, the healers gathered again around his bed, watching as his body moved against the silken ties, no longer straining, but rather tugging gently, almost erotically against them. Elrond gazed at his son, grateful that whatever demons he had been facing had faded, since it was obvious even to Elrond's sorrow stricken eyes that his son was more calm than he had been mere moments before. Sighing, his head returned to its cradled position, his eyes dry, but his heart weeping profusely.
Erestor, bringing a cup of tea to the Imladris Lord as he sat watch over his son, nearly dropped the cup as he caught the look of ecstasy as it crossed the young Peredhil's face.
Tongues and teeth teased their flesh, licking and nipping as they traveled toward their intended destinations, both working in tandem, both knowing exactly each other's most tender places.
Throbbing with need, they found each other's organs at the same moment, devouring each other in a dance of eroticism, ages old, yet new each time, tasting deeply of each other, commanding each other's body to deliver them their due.
As one, they erupted, their orgasms spiraling in sync, their bodies arching against each other as they fed each other their seed.
"Look at his face," Erestor whispered, calling Elrond's attention to his son once more. Raising his head from his hands, where he had been resting it as he sat at the edge of his son's bed, Elrond eyes widened at the peace he saw transfigure his son's features.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***I must go now, Melleth nin ***
***NO! I will not allow it! I will follow you always ***
***No, tór, not this time. The time has come to walk alone.***
***Never! I will not I cannot please, I beg you stay with me ***
***If only it could be so but alas, it can no longer be we journey now on different paths.***
***Why? Why must you leave me? How will I survive without you?***
***I will return someday, Melleth nin, I swear it! You will know me when you find me as I will know you. Swear to me that you will be here waiting for me promise me!***
***I promise, Elladan I promise ***

The tears that streaked his cheeks went unnoticed by Elrond and Erestor, so great was their joy to see Elrohir's eyes focus for the first time since the tragedy that took his brother to the Halls of Mandos.
Looking up at them, feeling both their love and their pain, he said, in a voice strained and filled with both unending love and unceasing sorrow, "He will return
he has promised me."
