Logan Greene walked into the door of his apartment with a sigh. It had been a long day and he was exhausted. He dropped his keys on the kitchen counter and pulled off his jacket. Throwing himself into one of his more comfortable chairs, he relaxed. Sleep quickly took over his mind as he closed his eyes.
Hours later, he was woken by pounding on his door.
“Logan? Logan! Open up the damn door!” A male voice shouted.
Logan fell of the chair then stumbled to his feet in an attempt to get to the door to unlock it. The second he hit the lock, the door had flung open to reveal Spencer Anthem. He wore black eyeliner, black, baggy pants and an Avenge Sevenfold shirt. He reached up to shove his long black hair out of his face and then grabbed Logan by the sleeve and lead him over to his room and tossed him in. “You supposed to be ready for the concert tonight Logan! Hurry up! I’ll get your stuff, but get your ass in the van in five minutes!”
“Oh shit! Sorry Spence, I fell asleep after work,” Logan scrambled to get his outfit on--a pair of black baggy pants with chains dangling from the pockets, a dark red shirt sporting the words Atreyu on it, a black dress jacket and a black tie--while apologizing.
“Doesn’t matter, just get the lead outta your ass!” Spencer’s voice faded as he ran down the steps with Logan’s guitar.
Flinging the bedroom door open, he decided to use Spencer’s eye makeup in the car. Lord knows he’s been late enough times to learn how to put on eyeliner and mascara in a bumpy car ride. He grabbed his keys, locked the door then ran down the steps, trusting Spencer to have gotten everything. He jumped in the running van and they sped off.
“You really should stop this, Logan. Two jobs are really messing with your sleep schedule,” Spencer immediately brought up.
“If I could afford it, I would do it. The club just isn’t enough money to live off of anymore,” Logan’s auto response went off to the common question.
“You know we’ll help you out, you just have to ask.”
“And what? Live with you guys and depend on you for the rest of my life?” Logan flipped the mirror down and opened the glove box to get Spencer’s bag. Then he worked on finishing his appearance for the night.
“No, just until the club gets back up to par. We’re hitting a dry spell, we’ve weathered them before, we just need to go a little longer,” Spence reassured.
“We’ve never gone this long without a steady flow of cash. What if this is it? Then what will we all do?” Logan finally cried out bitterly. It’s been on his mind for a while now, and he can seem to shake the feeling that each night will be his last in the club. Ever since he showed up eight years ago without knowing who he was, he wondered the streets after escaping the hospital they put him at. It freaked him out that there were so many people trying to poke at him and get inside his head that he couldn’t stand it anymore. He wandered into the club and sat down. He was thirsty, hungry and exhausted. Then his current friends Spencer, Darien Banters, Jinx Starr, and Scott Harper, found themselves intrigued with him and took him in. They had dubbed him Logan Greene several days after.
“It won’t happen. It can’t happen,” Spencer said confidently. “Not with all the work we’ve all put into it.”
Logan just nodded then went back to what he was doing.
They pulled up to the club just a few minutes later. Logan and Spence jumped out of the van and grabbed their stuff. The back door opened, and the eccentric Jinx ran up to them.
“What the hell took you so long? You were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago!” She grabbed some more bags and they headed into the back door of the club where Guy Diaz stood watch. He was the security guard to the back door. He didn’t get much action in the back of the club, but when he did, he enjoyed it. The idiots who attempted to get past him were nothing after Guy got through with them.
“Logan was sleeping when he was supposed to be ready,” Spence immediately replied.
“Sorry, Jinx, I had double shifts today because the other guy didn’t show. I forgot to set the timer when I got home,” Logan answered. He always had to get some sleep between jobs or he would be the walking dead at the club when it started to get late.
“Its okay, but we need to get you up on stage. Darien and Scott are trying to keep the crowd entertained but they can’t do it alone.”
The rest of the night was a blur. He had played all night and it was nearly 4:30 in the morning when they were finished cleaning the place up. Logan searched the room for Spencer. Spence was supposed to drive him home tonight.
“Scott! Where’d Spence go?” he called out to his friend.
“Spence? He’s passed out in the back room. Why? Is he your ride?” Logan nodded. “Just take his spare keys and go, I’ll drive him over later to pick it up.”
“Thanks,” Logan smiled. He retrieved the keys and grabbed his stuff. Crying out a good bye and hearing several in return, he left. Climbing into the van, he dropped his stuff in the front seat and started it up.
Logan pulled out of the parking lot and turned in the direction of his apartment. A red light came up and he slowed to a stop. When it changed to green, he switched to the gas, wanting to get home as soon as possible. He knew that it was a bad decision when he heard the screeching of breaks and the crunch of metal. Then all when black.
