Chapter 1
The sun began to slowly rise in the east bringing light to the land below. In the distance near the edge of a forest was a small campfire. Sitting in front of the fire was a small boy. He appeared to be looking into the depths of the fire. He was wearing a pair of dark blue leggings and a white tunic. He had short blonde hair and striking blue eyes.
He was completely alone and had no idea where he was going to go. He had been camping here last night with his mother and when he woke up this morning he was alone. He knew why she had done this, tired of being harassed because her son was different. The pointy ears and the fact that he was 30 years old but still looked like a ten year old boy. Still it was wrong for her to leave him alone out here without any protection.
He looked past the fire and saw two riders coming toward him. The first rider looked like an ordinary man, but the second rider surprised him. He had long blonde hair with a couple of small braids in it. The braids looked like they were tied behind his head, probably to keep the rest of his hair out of his face. He was wearing pale blue riding clothes and even from this distance Arthon could make out the man’s pointy ears. ‘He’s like me.’ He thought jumping to his feet. Then another thought hit him, ‘What if they are enemies.’ He had no weapon to protect himself with.
Aragorn and Haldir were riding toward the fire when they saw someone jump to their feet. "Can you tell who it is?" Asked Aragorn.
"I do not recognize him, but it looks like a young boy."
"A young boy out here alone."
They rode up to the campsite and got off of their horses, "What are you doing out here alone?" asked Aragorn.
"What do you care?"
Haldir noticed the boy’s ears. "You are an edhel."
"Mae, But I don’t know my real parents I was taken from my home when I was Very little." Replied Arthon.
"What is your name?" asked Haldir.
"Arthon."
Looking at Aragorn, "Does his name sound Familiar to you?" asked Haldir.
"No, but he could belong to Mirkwood."
"What do you want to do?"
"I will take him to Rivendell with me. Lord Elrond will know what to do."
Arthon turned and packed up the few things that he had with him. Aragorn put out the fire and then turned back toward Arthon who was attaching his bag to his horse. Then Arthon got onto his horse. He waited while Aragorn and Haldir got onto their horses. Haldir headed into the forest while Aragorn and Arthon went the opposite direction. By the end of the day they had reached the base of a mountain range and stopped there for the night. The next day they climbed the mountain and came upon a valley. Arthon’s jaw dropped at the site before him. There were many waterfalls above and through out the city.
"Is that...?" asked Arthon.
"Yes that is Rivendell."
They rode over a bridge that led into the city. Aragorn stopped his horse in the courtyard and got off.
Walking up to them, "Aragorn welcome back." Spotting the boy, "Who is the boy?" Asked Arwen.
"Haldir and I came upon him near the edge of the forest. He has no place else to go so I brought him here. I need to speak with your father."
"You look hungry. Why don’t we go up to the dinning hall and get something to eat? When Aragorn is done talking to ada nin you can meet him."
Nodding, "I am hungry, thanks."
He followed Arwen into the dinning hall. He watched as she walked over to the servants and asked them to bring in food.
Walking back over to him, "You are an edhel?" asked Arwen.
"Mae, but I have never known my real family. I was taken from them when I was very small."
"How old are you?"
"30 years old."
Aragorn walked up to Elrond’s study and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Aragorn opened the door and walked into the room. Elrond was sitting at his desk looking over some papers. He looked up at Aragorn. "Ah, Aragorn welcome back."
"Thank you my lord. I have something that I need to discuss with you."
"What?"
"When Haldir and I were riding toward the edge of the forest we can across a young boy. He was alone and he is an edhel."
"You said that he was alone."
"Mae. He doesn’t remember anything about his real family."
"What is his name?"
"Arthon."
Elrond sat back in his chair and thought for a moment. There had been a baby taken from Mirkwood 30 years ago. Could this boy be that very same elf?
Looking up at Aragorn, "Bring him to me."
Aragorn left the room a few minutes later there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." He called out.
Aragorn opened the door and a young boy walked into the room. The boy was definantly an elf. His pointy ears gave him away. Elrond couldn’t help but stare at the boys striking blue eyes. He could loose himself in the depths of those eyes.
Arthon stood there silently. He wasn’t quiet sure what to say so he stayed silent. Arthon watched the elf lord waiting for him to speak. Lord Elrond had long coal black hair that had intricate braids through out and beautiful silver/gray eyes. Finally Elrond spoke, "What is your name?"
"My name is Arthon."
"Where is your home?"
Shifting on his feet nervously, "I don’t have a home. I was abandoned because my mom was tired of being harassed because I look different. All I know is that I was given to her by her husband when I was just a baby. He told her that he found me alone in the woods. But I... "
"You don’t think that is true?"
"No, sir."
"How old are you?"
"I just turned 30 last month."
Nodding, "Well you are welcome to stay here. I am going to send word to both Lord Celeborn and Lord Thranduil to see if they might recognize you. I will have Aragorn show you to the guestrooms."
Bowing slightly, "Thank you sir."
