As soon as they arrived home, Tari released the horses after the carriers were removed from their backs. Aragorn held the trophy in his hand as he gazed at it; the trophy was really nothing he had ever seen before. Tari watched him looking at it before she approached him.
“Tari is it possible that Hugo…I mean Elrond would come here to see us?” asked Aragorn, as they entered the home together.
“I truly do not know, Aragorn. He might come and he might not,” Tari stated, as she took the trophy from him and placed it in the trophy case near the weapons.
It was no more than a few hours later; they were practicing their skills in the field before they stopped for the night. It was during that meal that they learned about the discussion she had with the show holder.
“What! I thought you loved it here, Tari.” Aragorn stated shocked.
“I know. I love it here too but it is time for this wanderer to start moving again. I’m going across the sea to another country to live. I’ll be doing that soon after you two are returned to your rightful time.” Tari stated as she poured the wine into the goblets. “This time next year, the tournament will be held here on my lands. My father would be proud of me by giving them our lands to use for the tournament. Now they can be more spread out doing the competitions and plus they can hold more people here than at the old location.”
“That is true it was more cramped there after I thought about it.” Aragorn replied, after he thought about what Tari had stated before he picked up the goblet and took a sip from it.
Tari took a sip of the wine as she rubbed her forehead. Tari knew what was coming and knew she would be in need of their help really soon. She was just about to speak when Legolas beat her to it.
“Tari, is something wrong?”
“I always get migraines after the tourneys are over, Legolas. I’ll be fine in a day.” Tari stated as she stood up only to wobble on her feet.
It was not long after she wobbled when she felt the arms of her lover wrapping themselves around her waist and then lifting her up into his arms. She felt him moving towards the bedroom as she heard Aragorn speaking in a low voice about getting wet washcloths. Tari opened her eyes only to get shooting pain in her mind as the sensitivity to the light grew stronger. She wanted to speak but she felt a finger at her lips as a whisper was heard.
Tari felt a damp washcloth be placed upon her forehead and covering her eyes. She felt a cool drop of water at her lips as she was given some water. The water tasted strange to her as she refused to take more of the water.
“Tari, drink please?” spoke the voice.
“She won’t drink, Aragorn. I think I know a way to get her to drink the water.” the other voice whispered.
“How?”
“Like this,” spoke Legolas, as he took another washcloth and dipped it into the goblet. It was dripping as he placed his hand underneath it and held it to Tari's lip and squeezed it into her mouth.
Tari coughed couple of times as she got the liquid into her throat. Legolas encouraged more water into her throat as she finished the liquid. Legolas set the goblet and the washcloth on the nightstand as he watched Tari slip into a deeper sleep as the liquid was a sleep potion and a healing potion at the same time.
Aragorn stood by the wall watching Tari sleep when it dawned on him that she should really have her nightclothes on. He moved towards her closet and found her nightgown that she had hanging up. Aragorn picked it up and walked back into the room. “Tari will need her nightgown, Legolas. Since you are her lover…you get to change her.”
Aragorn then walked out of the room to get more damp washcloths for Tari’s forehead. He gathered the darker colored washcloths and got them into the stream of water. He turned off the water faucet as he twisted them to be only damp not dripping wet as he gathered them up and walked back to the bedroom to see Legolas pulling the covers up around her.
“Legolas…how is she?”
“She’s asleep and will be till the morning when hopefully this migraine has past.” whispered Legolas, keeping his tone soft and quiet knowing that she would wake if the tone was too high.
“Maybe ‘Hugo’ should know about her being ill? He’ll come here sooner and maybe he’ll bring the Istari here and we’ll be able to go back…home.” Aragorn whispered, as he removed the dry washcloth off of Tari’s forehead and placed another one on.
Legolas stood up; walked away from the room to head outside where a raised stone ring was located at and sat on the side of the ring looking towards the setting sun. Aragorn followed him out there.
“Did I say something wrong, Legolas?”
“No…no…Aragorn, you did not say anything wrong.” Legolas looked up at him and then gazed towards the house again.
“Then, why do I have the feeling that you are not happy to return to our proper place in the past?” Aragorn said, as he sat down next to him. “Is it because of the young woman inside that house that is pulling you away from returning to the past with me?”
“I do not know anymore, Aragorn. I want to return to the past with you but also want to remain here with Tari.”
“You will be able to see her again; don’t go to the Undying Lands just send Gimli over the sea as we all know that he is head over heels in love with Galadriel.”
Legolas broke out into a giggle and smiled towards Aragorn. “That is true. He practically spoke in his sleep trying to seduce Galadriel to go away with him.”
“That was one thing that Frodo didn’t mention in his journal of the Quest. I think he didn’t want Gimli to be embarrassed by that.” Aragorn stated with a smile.
They went quiet as they gazed towards the setting sun. Aragorn turned towards the pile of wood that was piled up in the middle of the circle ring and pulled out his fire tools and made the pile of wood come alight with fire. They then sat there just gazing into the fire before Aragorn stood up and headed inside to check on Tari before he came out again.
“How is she?”
“She still sleeps,” Aragorn whispered, as he put the bag of raw meat from the bag he brought out with him. He stabbed a piece with his dagger and held it over the fire turning it every so often till he figured that it was at the right place to eat it.
They ate in quiet peace as the fire crackled with the drippings of the meat as they roasted another piece of fresh meat. Legolas watched as the moon rose higher in the night’s sky as Aragorn had gone off to bed as they were going to start practicing more in the morning if Tari was up to practicing.
Legolas remembered sending Gandalf off with a note to Elrond in elvish telling him about Tari’s illness and that they needed the Istari there soon for he feared that the past will be harmed if they were not returned quickly. He could only hope that Elrond would come with the two Istari and send them back home soon. Legolas threw some dirt over the embers of the fire and made sure that the fire was completely out before he entered the house again, walked to Tari’s bed, laid next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist and went into his dreamstate.

The next morning, Tari thought she heard a familiar voice but she knew he shouldn’t be there as she tried to force her eyes open only to see a washcloth over her eyes.
“Close your eyes so I can remove it, Tari.” stated the voice again. Tari obeyed the command as she felt the cloth being removed from her face. “Now open them.”
Tari did as she was told only to see ‘Hugo’ sitting on the side of the bed looking at her. “How did you know?”
“That you were ill? They sent word to me. I brought with me the White and Gray Istari. As soon as we can figure out which spell Shaquar used the quicker they will be able to return home to the past.” ‘Hugo’ stated calmly.
“I think I know which one it was.” Tari said, as she moved to stand up and walked to her trunk where she opened it up and after a few minutes of searching the trunk removed a scroll. “This I believe is the scroll which has the spell Shaquar used.”
‘Hugo’ took it from her and read it. “Yes, this is the spell. Now, they may be returned to their rightful time.” ‘Hugo’ looked up at her. “You may want to get dressed so you may see them off.”
‘Hugo’ left the room as Tari heard his voice announce that she was awake to the others in her home. She quickly dressed in the same clothing that she always wore. This time added one thing a golden outer layer instead of the green layer she usually wore. She placed her quiver and bow onto her back before she emerged from the room to see them all standing around the two Istari, who were reading the scroll that ‘Hugo’ gave them.
“Is it the spell to send us back to our proper time?” asked Aragorn.
“Yes, it is. We must cast it in the same place you were first seen by Tari. You will show us where you first saw them at?” asked the Gray Istari, turning to look at her as she walked into the room.
“Yes. This way…I first saw them emerging from the forest but I didn’t want to think it could be possible that two men were on my lands till they got closer and I heard their voices more clearly.” Tari stated, calmly and yet she didn’t want them to leave.
Tari walked outside and headed towards the field while the Gray, White, Elrond, Legolas and Aragorn followed behind her till she stopped and pointed in the direction in which Legolas and Aragorn had appeared from.
“All right, we will start the spell here. We will need a few minutes before we start. You best say your goodbyes now for once we start we cannot stop.” replied the White, as he turned to look at them.
Aragorn knew this was goodbye but in his heart he didn’t want to leave his descendant there alone. “Tari….”
“I know, Aragorn. You don’t want me to be alone here. I’m not alone. I have the memories of you safely tucked away here.” Tari said as she pointed to her head. “You made me feel like I was your daughter instead of your descendant. I never felt more loved since my parents’ death so many years ago. I wish you could stay here but you can’t, you are needed in the past. You can’t stay here.”
“I know, Tari, I know.” whispered Aragorn, as he pulled her into a tight hug and placed his head onto her’s.
She pulled away from him; “There is something I must give you, Aragorn.” Tari stated, as she walked away from him towards the barn.
A few minutes later, she led out the bay mare Zorada, bridled and saddled in the old way. Tari placed the reins into his hands. “She’s yours, Aragorn. I can not keep her.”
“But Tari this is a gift I cannot accept.” Aragorn said, shocked by the gift.
“You must for within her womb is a warrior colt or filly. I have trained her and Lazar to be warrior horses. They will not back off from a battle that their rider is in. They will fight side by side with their riders till they are dead or the rider retreats from battle. There is also one more thing I need to give you.” Tari turned away from Aragorn and whistled. She held her arm up as Gandalf flew from the sky and landed on her arm. She walked over to Aragorn and placed him on Amarie’s saddle.
“He’s mine too?” Aragorn said shocked by the other gift.
“Yes, Lazar is Legolas as well. I cannot tend to them here like I should.” Tari stated calmly.
They looked at her and then the gifts of horses and Gandalf. They knew they shouldn’t refuse them. Aragorn knew Tari needed to spend time with her lover and gently nudged her towards Legolas.
“Legolas….”
“Tari….”
Tari went into his arms and placed her head on his chest listening to his heart beat. “I know you could stay but your place is with Aragorn to protect him and be his friend and be there when he…breaths his last.”
“I shall, my love. I swear to you on this day, I will come for you. I swear it Tari!” Legolas swore, as he knelt before her holding her hand in his. “There will not be a day that I shall not think of you. My heart is yours.”
“As my heart is yours, Legolas, I shall think of you everyday till the day we meet again, my beloved.” Tari swore, as she held his gaze. “Now I must do my part in this spell!”
Tari turned away from Legolas and walked towards the two Istari and her voice now rang out with what she had said that day that they arrived in her time. “I wish for my grandsire and his friend to be returned to the past from whence they come!”
And then suddenly, the gate appeared in front of the great tree. Aragorn picked up the reins of Zorada, removed his sword knowing he will be in battle once he got across the gate with a last look at Tari who’s tear streaked face looked back at him – Aragorn stepped into the gate and vanished.
Legolas turned to see Tari crying and wanted more than anything to comfort her right there and then but he could not as his friend may now need his help. “Goodbye my love. I shall love you forever.” And then, he went into the gate and vanished.
“They are back where they belong and my heart will be broken till the day I see Legolas’s face once again.” whispered Tari, as the gate vanished in front of her. She turned to Elrond and the two Istari. She asked, “Did they make it all right?”
They said nothing but the smile on their faces said it all.
The end or is this really the end?
