Part 11

Part 11…

Glorfindel could actually feel his heart breaking. The ache that had started in the vicinity of his heart seemed to expand with every word Erestor spoke until he thought he would die from it. Once Erestor had finished speaking the ache seemed to fracture and spread through out his entire body as he listened to the first sob. Tightening his hold on the distraught elf in his arms he buried his face against Erestors neck, allowing his own tears to fall into the midnight black hair. “Oh Erestor. My sweet beautiful Erestor. You’re not worthless, never worthless. I love you, and if you want to keep us a secret till the end of Arda, so be it. I would do anything to spare you pain and relieve your anguish, anything. Please don’t cry love, please…” Leaning against the desk, watching the sunlight slowly fade from the room, Glorfindel comforted his lover, patiently waiting as the sobs subsided and the shuddering breaths calmed into a more measured rhythm.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lose control like that, I…”

“Sssshhh… it’s alright.” Standing quietly together for another moment the couple took comfort in each other.

“Glorfindel?”

“Hmm?”

“I love you too.”

“I know love, I know.” Smiling into Erestors hair Glorfindel soothingly stoked his back and flank, stopping when the dark haired advisor pulled back to look at him.

“Do you still want to tell everyone?”

“Only if you do.”

“I do.”

“Wonderful! If you’ll excuse me for a moment I have to go climb onto of the roof so I can shout it to the whole valley, righright back darling.” Placing a kiss on the tip of Erestors nose Glorfindel moved as if to leave, stopped only by a restraining arm of the smiling advisor.

“I don’t thing you need to go to such extremes.”

“Ah, so you intend to take care of the matter by sending out memos to all the residents of Imladris, Lothlorien and Mirkwood informing everyone of our relationship?! Very well, I suppose that might be more effective than shouting as it tends to only inform so many people…” With a sigh of exasperation at the warriors antics Erestor silenced him with a hard kiss.

“You are exceptionally silly, you know this.”

“And you are exceedingly polite; most would have just called me idiotic.”

“You could never be an idiot Fin, never.”

“Fin huh? Does this mean I can call you ‘Res?”

“Like I said, silly.” So say he placed another, lingering kiss on his lovers lips.

“So…”

“So…”

“Hungry?”

“Famished! Shall we go to dinner?” Hand in hand, fingers intertwined, the two left the library in the direction of the informal dining room.

After a brief stop at Erestors chambers to tidy up, which included splashing cold water on their faces to remove any linger trace of tears the lovers, still holding hands, entered the dining room. Erestor blushed as the rooms inhabitants, one by one, halted their conversations and turned to stare at him and Glorfindel. Ignoring the inquisitive looks and speculative whispering Glorfindel and Erestor proceeded to the main table designated for family and seated themselves in their usual chairs, directly across from each other.

For the past month Glorfindel had found his position of sitting directly across from his lover and not being able to touch or flirt with him to be an agonizing affair, but tonight he could breath easy and openly display is affection for one and all to see. Elrohir and Elladan stared in open mouth shock at their former tutors, neither knowing quite how to react. Arwen, being as young as she was, showed absolutely no interest in her teachers and instead engaged in the entertaining activity of spreading her mashed potatoes along the edges of her dinner plate. Elrond merely raised an eyebrow at his two friends befoetureturning his attention to Arwen, patiently explaining the rules of dining room etiquette, which under no circumstances included playing with your food. Catching Erestors eye, Glorfindel sent a dazzling smile at him, communication without words his happiness. Reciprocating the smile Erestor slid his foot teasingly along Glorfindel’s calf.

His eyes widening at Erestors provocative act, Glorfindel reflected on the dark haired elf across the table. Although he gave the appearance of being aloof and distant, unattainable, Erestor was in truth none of these things and Glorfindel had never been more grateful to have been wrong about something. Looking into the brown eyes alight with merriment and joy Glorfindel found him self looking forward to a long and happy future with his love, and he knew, without having to hear it, that Erestor felt the same way.

The End

Well - there we go! I finally posted a story somewhere else than on the group list - and if memory is cor (wh (which I highly doubt) this is the first one I wrote... I think.
