Chapter Eleven - Fixing the puzzle
Aragorn walked swiftly down the hall, looking for two men. Both men where standing talking of advancing within the Gondorian army. The king shook his head roughly.
“Excuse me? You two?”
Both guards looked into the kings eyes and bowed swiftly. “My Lord?!” Alistair addressed.
“Why do you show me respect?”
The guards appeared quizzical. “My lord?” Valien questioned.
“You have enough respect to my face but what about behind my back. To my lovers. My wife and my best friend? You took him into your beds and didn’t have respect enough for me to NOT do that and for him because of the way you treated him. How dare you?” Estel was shaking in rage at that point. He called four other guards in.
“Take these men to the keeping cells so that when I calm down I can give them a fair punishment.”
All the guards nodded and moved away to the cells. Aragorn turned and punched his hand into the stone wall, instantly regretting it.
He shook his head and walked idly to his quarters. He slowly opened the double doors and closed them quietly behind him. He gazed up to the bed and smiled.
Arwen had her arms wrapped around Legolas and his head was in the crook of her neck, his arm resting across her stomach.
He walked calmly around the side of the bed, removed his cloak and laid beside his friend. He tucked his head behind the blonds and rested his arm over his wife’s. He slowly fell asleep in the warmth of the bed and its company.
Legolas opened his eyes. He had never felt so alive but yet disinclined to move. He was warm and was happy. He felt that things where right again. He smiled and slowly closed his eyes in the warmth of the rising sun. Soon would be day. Soon he would have to move. And he wanted to enjoy all the time he could feeling the way he did in this moment.
Sleep came easy to the elf prince, as did his waking a short time there after. Both warm bodies had moved and where sitting on the terrace looking in. He stretched his muscles and was shaking with the force of his long reaching. He arched his back and rolled to his front arching the opposite direction. He stood up and reached to the ceiling. He walked into the sun light with the beaming faces that looked upon him. The blond reached out and wrapped his arms around the kings neck and sat delicately on his lap, snuggling into his neck.
“Nice to see you are happy.” Arwen smiled, genuinely happy. She clasped her hands on the princes knees.
“I think I could get used to this…” Legolarredrred.
“I would like it better if I felt that there was weight on my legs.” Aragorn grinned.
Legolas slapped Estels shoulder and shook his head. “This is me. Get used to it, my lord.”
The king laughed and shook his head. “Stubborn…”
“Will you stay with us forever, my prince?” Arwen quested.
Legolas nodded and then kissed the kings stubbly chin. “I think I can find the time for that.”
The three sat and ate brunch for some time after that. Talking about everything. Talking about the Ring, missing the Hobbits and grumpy dwarfs. It was at last tranquil for the elf that had fought for years. In Mirkwood his home. For the Hobbits holding the ring and for his own survival in the war.
Later that year Arwen gave birth to a boy. Aragorn’s son. Legolas because his mentor and friend as the boy aged. When his mother and father were angry with him he always seemed to get help and sympathy from the young prince. Those days where long and full of joy.
The Prince, though, would soon be sorrowful again when his King passed on to another plain, then one last time when the Queen would follow. He then decided he wanted to bestow on Gimli, his good, strange and awkward friend, with a gift and take the stout creature with him to the undying lands. That rite never before giving to any dwarf. Though the sea took his mind, his heart still belonged to the Royals that saved him from himself. Though his heart was sad it wasn’t broken. They healed him. Now, sailing to the undying lands his thoughts rest on his family. His father, his brothers and his friends. He could now tell them of a life full of love and adventure. Legolas gazed down at Gimli, the dwarfs legs dangling over the edge of the boat, his little hands grasping firmly to the railings. The dwarf watched the water happily. The blond elf smiled to himself as the boat disappeared into the horizon. His dream eingeing happy had finally come true. Though the deaths of his lovers had been upsetting, that chapter was over and he was ready to move on. The next chapter of his life was an unknown but he was more then ready to take the leap.
The End.
