leaves with the morning light for Mirkwood.Chapter Thirteen
The closer Elladan and Elrohir came to their rooms, the louder their argument
became. Glorfindel, who was walking down the corridor, approached them and
stepped between them.
“What in all of Arda is going on with you two,” the golden warrior asked.“Elrohir is trying to undermine my relationship with Legolas,” Elladan
answered angrily.“I don’t have to undermine it; you are doing that all on your own,
brother!” the elf knight spat. “I told him to give you another chance and
talk to you about his past.”“Ai, when was that? Before or after you marked him?” Elladan tried to
push past Glorfindel to get at Elrohir, but
the Balrog slayer wasn’t to be moved.“I marked him yesterday while you were fucking that *whore*,”
Elrohir spat venomously. “Take a look at your chest, Elladan and you will find
one of the reasons Legolas is so upset with you. It is not my fault you can’t
keep your leggings laced.”“Enough, both of…” Glorfindel began, but was interrupted.“You are one to talk. You were going to make love to Legolas when I got to
his room. Don’t think I missed your flushed faces and bulges in your leggings.
Just like you to take advantage while he is upset,” the elf warrior accused.“You!” Elrohir growled as he moved past Glorfindel and tackled Elladan to
the floor, fists flying. “I would never use anyone that way, especially
Legolas. I don’t use others like you do, *Elladan*!”“You did not just say that,” Elladan yelled as his own fists found their
marks on his brother’s face and body. “I am going to kick your ass, *warg
fucker*.”By this time Erestor had heard the commotion and came running down the hall
to see Glorfindel trying to separate the fight twins. “Grab one and I will
grab the other.”Once the twins were pulled apart, they still tried desperately to get at each
other again. Elladan was able to break free for a few seconds, but Glorfindel
turned Elrohir away from him.“What is going on here,” Erestor demanded, not having seen the twins
fight like this they were in their youth. Both were bleeding from their noses
and busted lips, and the counselor was sure they would both have black eyes.“I am not quite sure, but it seems they are fighting over a certain prince,”
Glorfindel remarked with a frown.“Elladan thinks he owns…” Elrohir began.“Keep running your mouth, brother, and you will get more of the same,”
Elladan barked.“No talking, either of you,” Glorfindel insisted firmly as he and Erestor
led them down the hall to Elrond’s office. “You can tell your father what
the problem is and explain to him why two full grown elves are behaving like
elflings!”~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~The look on Elrond’s face was not a happy one and both twins knew better
than to speak before being spoken to. It had taken quite a few moments to clean
Elladan and Elrohir up and decide that no further treatment would be needed.
Now, they sat before their father’s desk with Glorfindel and Erestor
separating them. The tension in the room could have been cut with a knife.“I will not bother telling you how disappointed I am in your behavior this
afternoon,” Elrond began, his voice even but sharp. “As future lords of
Imladris, you are expected to set an example for the residents of this valley.
Perhaps I was wrong when I declared your readiness to accept the responsibility
it will take to govern this realm.“Elladan, your actions in the last couple of days have been reprehensible,
and today you have a fist fight with your own brother! Explain yourself, but
mind your tongue or you will find yourself falling through the thin ice you are
on.”“I am sorry for my behavior, father. It has not been what I expect from
myself. After leaving you in the healing halls, I sought out Legolas and Elrohir
as I planned. Elrohir returned to the house while I found a nice place to tell
Legolas of my past and profess my love for him. He reacted most unexpectedly,
telling me I didn’t know what love was and I was only a taker; I use people
for my own means and I should keep my empty declarations of love to myself until
I learn what love is. I was left sitting with my mouth agape as the prince made
his way back to the house.“After a time of reflecting on Legolas’ words, I returned to try to speak
to him further, and found Elrohir already in the prince’s room. They were
unable to answer the door in a timely manner, which leaves no doubt in my mind
that Elrohir was taking advantage of Legolas’
distress. My own brother is turning the prince against me so he can have him for
himself.”“That is not why I was there…” Elrohir started, but was silenced by a
look from Elrond.“I sent Glorfindel to make sure Elrohir was aware Legolas had returned
without you,” the Elf lord told his eldest. “The prince seemed upset and I
wanted to make sure he was all right. If you must blame someone for Elrohir
being there, then it is I you should blame.”“That does not excuse his seduction…” Elladan stated harshly.Elrond’s voice echoed through out the room causing the twins to jump. “Silence!
If I understand, you both love Legolas and he returns that love. You are going
to have to find a way to accept that fact or break with him. Was it not your
idea to share him?”“Aye, but that was before we fell in love with him and he with us,”
Elrohir replied with a sigh.“I suggest the two of you have a serious discussion about what you want and
how to achieve it. If it is Legolas’ love you both desire, I suggest you work
together on a way to end this jealousy and fighting. It serves no purpose. If
you want this to work, you must work together. Do I make myself clear?”“Aye, father, perfectly,” Elrohir answered truthfully.“Aye, we will do what is needed,” Elladan added.“The evening meal will be ready soon, I think you both could use a bath and
a change of clothes,” Elrond said, dismissing them.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~After the evening meal, Legolas asked Elrond to take a walk with him through
one of many of Celebrian’s gardens. As they walked the paths, the Elf lord
could tell something was bothering the young prince, but patiently waited for
him to bring it up on his own.“I have enjoyed my time here in Imladris, my lord,” Legolas finally said.“It is always a pleasure to have you here, Legolas, you know this,”
Elrond replied.“I am distressed, however, over some things that have occurred while I was
here. Right now, I think the best thing for everyone would be for me to return
to Mirkwood in the morning,” The prince said quietly.“There has been some trouble between you and my sons. Don’t look so
surprised, ernilen,” Elrond replied, smiling. “I know more often than not
what is going on in the vale.”“That I am sure of,” the prince replied, laughing softly. “I have lost
my way and my options are confusing me. I love them, both of them, and I am
having a hard time dealing with that.”“Some time away from them could be beneficial, I think,” the Elf lord
agreed. “It will give you time to come to terms with what you are feeling. You
are new to love, are you not?”“Aye and it frightens me more than facing a horde of orcs,” Legolas
admitted. “I do not want them to fight over me and that is just what happened
this afternoon. I don’t want them to get hurt, or myself either.”“Put your mind at ease, Legolas,” Elrond said, squeezing his shoulder.
“I spoke with them before the evening meal and I think they will work things
out. They have a special bond, even for twins. If there is a way, they will find
it.”“I am reluctant to tell them I am leaving at first light,” the prince
stated. “I think it will hurt them, but I must go for my own peace of mind.
You will be arriving less than a fortnight after. I think that will give me
plenty of time to think.”“I will tell them at breakfast and make sure I explain why you left early,”
Elrond assured him. “They will be disappointed, but understanding.”“Thank you, hiren,” Legolas said, gratefully. “I am going to turn in. I
have a long ride ahead of me. Rest well.”“I wish you the same, ernilen,” Elrond replied as he watched Legolas
return to the house.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Elladan and Elrohir sat in their shared sitting room looking over maps of the
areas they would be traveling on the way to Mirkwood. As with everyone else,
they wanted to arrive safely in the woodland realm, but it would not bother them
to run into a small skirmish, just for excitement.“I am sorry for my earlier actions, Elrohir,” Elladan said, growing tired
of the tension.“Aye, I am, too,” Elrohir replied. “Legolas does love you; he just has
had some hard times in his past, much like yours.”“He told you about it?” Elladan asked, surprised.“Aye, and he would have told you, as well,” Elrohir assured him. “We
were all going to talk about it, but then you came home and he saw your chest.”“Will you tell me what happened?” Elladan asked.“Nay, just as I would not tell him about Haldir. He has to tell you on his
own,” Elrohir replied.“You are right,” Elladan agreed. “Why don’t we take him breakfast in
the morning and spend the day talking?”“Excellent idea, Dan!” Elrohir agreed. “For now, though, I am turning
in. It has been a long day with too much drama for me.”“Aye, see you in the morning,” Elladan replied, making his way to his
bed.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~As the sun peeked over the trees, Legolas took one last look at the Last
Homely House before turning his horse and heading over the bridge.
