Chapter Fifteen
Mirkwood
As Legolas left his bathing chamber with a towel wrapped around his waist, he
came to a complete stop when he spotted Thaladirith sitting on the sofa. The
relaxation he felt after his bath and release was gone in an instant.
“What are you doing here?” he asked in aggravation.“I brought your food from the kitchen, my Prince,” Thaladirith replied
with a smirk. “I thought you would be more grateful for my kindness.”“We both know you are not here out of kindness, so please get on with
whatever it is you want,” Legolas said, slipping on a robe to cover himself.
“I am tired and wish to rest.”Thaladirith stood and grabbed Legolas’ arm, spinning him around to face
him. “I don’t like this new attitude you brought back with you from
Imladris, prince. It would be best for you to get rid of it and quickly! My
patience is already thin and you had best not try it further.”When the older elf let go of Legolas’ arm he rubbed the soreness the
captain’s tight grip caused. “I have done nothing to bring about your anger
or lack of patience, captain. I have not been home long enough to attract any
attention from anyone.”“It is not the attention you have attracted at home that worries me,
Legolas.” Even the way Thaladirith said his name made the prince cringe. “I
want to know about the twins of Imladris. If their carnal exploits are anywhere
near what they are rumored to be, they would have found you irresistible.”“I would not know,” Legolas replied, keeping his voice even. “I rarely
saw them and when I did, we barely exchanged words. Most of my time was spent
with Lord Elrond in the healing halls.”“And did that half-elf make passes at you?” Thaladirith snarled.“Elrond is *married* and misses his wife dearly. He is sailing to
join her shortly after they return from the trip here. I believe he thinks of
little else.” The prince was never good at lying, especially to the captain,
but he seemed to be holding his own today. Maybe it was because he was eating
and more interested in the food than Thaladirith’s questioning.“I do not believe you are being totally honest with me, Legolas,” the
captain stated, looking at the prince closely, watching for any sign of
deception. “Why did your father ask Lord Elrond to come here?”“I don’t know,” Legolas answered honestly. “You are in a better
position to know that than I am.”“Who is the half-elf bringing with him?” The questions never stopped once
the captain’s curiosity was peaked.“I am sure he will bring Glorfindel and his counselor, Erestor. Those
would be my choices.” Legolas paused for a moment and then added,
“I think he will bring his sons. They expressed an interest at one of the
evening meals.”“If they are coming, I suggest you watch your behavior around them, prince,”
Thaladirith warned. “I would hate to see either of them harmed while they are
here.”Legolas’ stomach turned and he sat his fork down on his plate before
looking the captain in the eyes. “I already told you, I barely know them. I
will not, however, be rude if I am asked to show them our home at father’s
request. Perhaps you should remember they are legendary warriors.”The fist to his face jarred his teeth and Legolas grabbed his jaw. “Perhaps
you should remember who *I* am. You will not speak to me thusly, prince.
You have far too much to lose. Don’t forget that I am the captain of your
father’s personal guard and have access to him as no other. It would be a
shame for something to happen to the king, wouldn’t it?“Think about your behavior, and you had better
make sure it is acceptable to me or someone will pay. It might even be *you*,
Legolas.”Thaladirith left the chambers and the prince sank down in his chair. What was
he going to do to protect not only his father, but Elladan and Elrohir? Having
lost his appetite, Legolas moved from the table to his bed hoping thoughts of
the twins would ease his mind. The only thing it did was make him miss them more
than he already did. He was miserable without them.Maybe he should have given everyone time to calm down and then approached the
twins with a way to settle everything instead of leaving. Legolas was out of
sorts in Imladris, but at least the twins were near. Now, he was still out of
sorts and the twins were miles away and he wouldn’t see them until they
arrived. What if they decided not to come? What if they took his leaving as a
sign he didn’t want them anymore? No, he had told Elrond he loved them and he
would make sure his sons came to Mirkwood. Hopefully they wouldn’t be too
stubborn. After several more moments Legolas finally drifted off into reverie, his long
journey and his fraught emotions finally catching up to him.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Thranduil sat at his desk in his study thinking about the proposal he made to
Elrond in the message he sent with Legolas to Imladris. It was true that Elrond
and he did not get along, but the king was willing to do anything to insure his
youngest and most favored son would sail to Valinor. He was certain Elrond would
do the same to secure his sons’ choice of elfkind. The king was disappointed when he heard Legolas had not had the chance to
spend a lot of time with Elladan and Elrohir; it did not bode well for the plan
he had concocted. Elrond’s reply had been encouraging and the elf lord had
even offered to help things along if it was at all possible in Imladris. All this meant that they had to bring the twins and the prince together in
the short time they would be spending in Mirkwood. A smile formed on Thranduil’s
face as he thought of the different errands and activities he could send the
three of them on. What fun it would be to see things take shape. He would have
to send someone he trusted to follow the progress of the ‘relationship’, and
knew it could not be Thaladirith. The king was not blind. He
knew his captain harbored feelings for his youngest and would likely
hamper any progress. No, he would have to keep his captain busy doing other
things. He would think of someone; he had almost a fortnight. It would be good to see Erestor again, but he was sure Glorfindel was as
thrilled to be traveling to Mirkwood as he was when he killed the Balrog. For
some reason Glorfindel had never liked him, but Thranduil would make sure that
changed on this trip as well. A mischievous smile spread across his face and
made his eyes twinkle as he thought about his own plans with the blond
warrior from Imladris. It would certainly be an interesting visit. The king was sure about that.

Imladris
“We have to sit Legolas down and make him tell us about his past and this
elf, Thaladirith.” Elrohir said, firmly. “Legolas is concerned about our
well being if our relationship with him is brought out in the open.”
“How do we know Legolas will even speak to me again?” Elladan asked
Elrohir. They were at the pool where Elrohir had taken Legolas the day he
realized his love for them.“He loves you. He will speak to you and probably beg your forgiveness for
yelling at you,” Elrohir answered confidently.“You do realize there will be times that I will need him more than you and
vise versa,” Elladan said, looking seriously at his brother. “We cannot
allow jealousy to cause a problem.”“Really Elladan,” Elrohir began, “you were the one who was jealous, but
I promise I will not be if you need him more at one time or another than I do. I
just want Legolas in my life and I am willing to do whatever it takes not to
lose him.”“I am willing to do the same, but you must help me, Roh,” Elladan
admitted. “I don’t always know when I am taking more than giving.
Truthfully, I have never loved like this before. I have had many crushes and
have liked someone a lot, but love, true love, this is really my first taste.”“Am I the only one who has any idea what a relationship is supposed to be
like?” Elrohir asked, looking quite shocked.“I am afraid that you are, brother,” Elladan replied. “You will have to
guide me in this; I do not want to lose Legolas. I will *not* lose him.”“*We* won’t, Elladan, trust me this one time,” Elrohir assured
him. “You must treat Legolas as you yourself would like to be treated. Show
him affection, kindness, tenderness….do you get where I am going with this?”“Yes, everything I did not do with Ervinai,” Elladan stated with a nod.
“Legolas is not just a bed treat, he should be worshipped. Do you know I told
him that? And then I failed to do it.”“I agree, Legolas does deserve to be worshipped and we must make sure that
he is, always, Elladan. Not just when we wish to make love to him,” Elrohir
said, wondering where all this wisdom was coming from. “He must feel loved at
all times. We should woo him with flowers and love notes, kisses and caresses…wine
and song. Hold his hand, kiss his cheeks, give him gifts just because…we must
do *all* those things.”“I think I shall start a journal and fill it with my thoughts and give it
to him once we arrive in Mirkwood. Well, at an appropriate time,” Elladan
said, smiling at his own genius.“And I shall write him a note everyday professing my love and need to have
him in my life,” Elrohir replied. “We can win him, Elladan, we just have to
work together, not against one another.”“You will help me, won’t you?” Elladan asked. “When I am unsure about
something?”“Of course, what are brothers for?” the elf knight asked, smiling.“Sharing?” Elladan asked before they both burst out in laughter.
