“Well how do you like that?” Merry huffed.
“Unbelievable!” Pippin agreed mesmerized that Haldir had suggested that they all rest for ‘second breakfast’; and what’s more excused himself from the group taking Kimber along with him.
Felicity was vexed with his actions to say the least as visions of Haldir and Kimber bombarded her thoughts. ‘The nerve of him!’ she thought to herselmakimaking a play for her sister; had he not an ounce of decency in his obnoxious body!’ And what of Kimber though she played the part of naivety, Felicity knew she could be cunning just the same. Perhaps Legolas was taking too long for her. ‘Unbelievable’ was certainly not among the words that were entering her thoughts. She took a swig from the water skin Kimber had prepared that morning for her.
It contained extract of chamomile and peppermint to ease her nausea; “Serves you right for hogging down all of that chocolate for breakfast”, Kimber had insisted. Though now that Felicity thought of it, it was probably poison as it didn’t taste that good.
“Pthew!” she spit the liquid out.
“Hey!” Merry shouted at her as he wiped the saliva from his cheek.
“Sorry Merry,” she huffed before sitting on the ground.
“It’s okay Felicity,” Pippin bent down to where she was sitting, “Here I’ve got something for ya!” he smiled as he placed a chocolate-covered strawberry in her hand.
“I’m not hungry,” she spat; though such a thought was unimaginable to him.
“I swear, Pippin, it isn’t enough that Rumil and Legolas wsnifsniffing around Kimber, now we’ve got to worry about the March Warden too!” Merry stated becoming irritated.
Felicity sighed before snatching the chocolate morsel from Pippin and popping it in her mouth; “Got anymore?” she looked at him.

Kimber followed Haldir as he led her off the path and into a more secluded area. She was little surprised with his request for her presence but obediently walked behind him just the same.
Quickly, he surveyed the area to make sure that they had not been followed, and once satisfied that they were alone, he turned to see Kimber who was giving him a rather peculiar look.
“Um, Haldir. What are we doing here?” she asked curiously.
“I needed to speak to you in private,” he whispered.
“About?” she wondered.
“Felicity,” he replied smugly.
“Felicity? What about her? I don’t understand,” Kimber was a bit confused.
“Remember what you said to me last night?” he stared past her.
“Haldir I said several things to you last night!” she was trying to recall their conversation.
“You said that I should try to treat her more affectionately,” he insisted.
“Ahhh! Yes, I do remember telling you that. What seems to be the matter?” Kimber questioned him.
“I do not think that you were correct. Your sister has not returned my feelings.”
“Well, what happened to make you think that?” Kimber raised a brow at him.
Haldir stood silent for a moment, “Last night, when she and I were alone, I did as you said and showed my affection for her,” Haldir paused, “She enjoyed herself then, but now this morning she is once again drawn to the likes of that…Frodo!”
“Well, how are you showing her this affection because as I said before; I have rarely seen you even offer her a smile,” Kimber questioned.
“We shared a bed together,” he offered.
“So! I share a bed with the hobbits, Haldir! You’re going to have to do better thant!” t!” she replied rolling her eyes at him.
He gave her a very strange look now as peculiar visions entered his mind, “You can not be serious?” he questioned her.
“ I am,” she replied matter-of-factly.
**********
“Felicity?” she looked up to see Legolas now standing over her, hand outstretched. She took it and he motioned for her to follow him. They walked along while Samwise and the others prepared breakfast; or rather, second breakfast.
“Legolas, where are we going?” she sighed.
“Nowhere in particular, you look as though you could use a little air, so here we are,” he smiled warmly at her. Deciding that she was in no mood for this, she turned and headed back to the group.
“Felicity, do not be worried about Kimber and Haldir,” Legolas called after her and in saying so he was also trying to ease his own reserves about the situation.
“Legolas,” she replied wearily, turning back to look at him, “Please, spare me the noble elf crapola!”
“Felicity, he is wedded to you and Kimber is your sister,” he began.
“And what, Legolas? Are you going to offer me the ‘such an act of love’ line? Because if you are save it. I know what Haldir is capable of and I know by what means he is capable of doing things,” she thought of him coming to her last night reeking of whatever it was.
Coincidently, Legolas also thought of the same scene, though he had seen whom Haldir was keeping company with as he took his watch post last night. He had passed a very intoxicated Haldir on his way back to camp and though he acknowledged the March Warden in passing Haldir did not return the greeting.
Now doubts of Kimber fidelity plagued his thoughts for a moment; certainly she would not thwart their relationship for Haldir.
“Felicity, please do not worry about such things, I am sure that all is well” though he could not imagine what could be taking Haldir and Kimber so long in returning.
**********
“I huhatthat you are not sharing a bed with the hobbits in the same manner that I am sharing one with your sister!" he insisted.
“And what is wrong with that?” she raised a brow. “Legolas doesn't mind. He thinks it is sweet.”
“You mean to tell me that he has seen you sleep with the hobbits?” Haldir was dumbfounded now.
“Well, I am sure that he has, on occasion,” Kimber shrugged her shoulders, not understanding what the big deal was over.
“Kimber, I had no idea that you were that type of maiden?” he looked at her in disbelief.
“What type of maiden do you mean?” she now looked at him in a strange manner.
“The type to indulge in pleasuring many at one time,” he offered, to which Kimber laid a hefty slap across his cheek; he brought a hand to his face and looked at her a might surprised.
“How dare you suggest that!” Kimber shrieked.
“What? Suggest what? Kimber, I did not 'suggest' anything! You are the one...” Haldir was still taken aback by the blow to the face he had received.
At once it hit Kimber, what Haldir was doing was not exactly ‘sleeping’ with her sister, “You have been intimate with Felicity?” she stared at him, eyes wide.
“Yes, I have,” Haldir shook his head, “I thought that was what we were talking about.”
“Well, if that is what you meant by ‘sleeping’, then certainly we were not talking about the same thing, Haldir,” she assured him, looking a bit flustered now.
“Please do not get upset Kimber, I thought that you knew. Felicity is your sister, I thought that she would have told you,” hologologized.
“Well suffice to say she did not tell me,” Kimber could not imagine why her sister had not done so.
“Well, can you get anymore affectionate than that?” he offered.
Kimber thought for a moment before switching gear a bit “You are concerned about her relationship with Frodo?” she asked him.
He only offered her a nod.
“Well, I am sure that she is not 'sleeping' with him,” Kimber smiled, though the look he offered her now revealed that he found little humor in the remark. “Haldir, perhaps you should take a moment and see what is drawing her to him; she revels in the attention she receives from him outside of the bedroom.”
“Are you suggesting that I show my affection for her in front of others?” He was the March Warden after all.
“Well that depends?” Kimber looked at him now as he was thinking about what she said.
“Depends on what?” he inquired.
“Depends on what your intentions are March Warden. Though I will say I know her very well, there is no doubt in my mind that you have her physically,” Kimber winced as she thought back to all of the ruckus she had heard going on last night, “but until you are ready to change your behavior outside the bedroom; Frodo will have her mentally I am afraid.”
“Kimber, you must help me,” he sounded desperate.
“What would you have me do Haldir?” she wondered looking at him curiously as she had certainly never seen this ‘vulnerable’ side of him. “And might I ask why you have chosen to share such things with me?”
“No one as ever spoken to me the way you did last night” he paused, “And besides who knows your sister better than you? You made me realize that I am in love with her and you are right, if I do not stop behaving as I have been then I will lose her,” he bowed his head “I do not want that.”
“I will be glad to help, but Felicity must not find out; lest she will be unbearable!” Kimber chirped.
“Yes, this is true!” Haldir laughed, “ So where shall we begin?”
“Well you can start by being nice to her,” Kimber offered, “And I will tell you right now, that when we get back if I know my sister she is going to be onry. She'll be expecting a fight from you most of all.”
Haldir nodded, “Yes she probably will. I just hope that I can keep my anger under control. It is so hard not to argue with her! What am I saying...You know that already,” he laughed; it was nice to see this side of him.
“All too well, I am afraid, now lets get back...before they send out the troops,” Kimber suggested.
“After you my lady,” Haldir bowed and gestured her for to take her leave, “Kimber?”
“Yes?” she turned to him.
“Thank you,” he smiled.
**********
"Gee I sure am hungry," Kimber sighed as she made her way over to where the group was sitting; Haldir followed close behind and took a seat next to her. Neither one was surprised to see Felicity 's icy stare upon them.
"Mmm, second breakfast!" Kimber inhaled the rich aroma of sausages that had just been prepared by Samwise.
To her surprise Felicity overturned the pot, dumping its contents on the ground.
"Felicity, what did you do that for? I was hungry," Kimber pined.
"Here, elf girl; chew on this," Kimber ducked but not quickly enough as Felicity threw a piece of Lembas at her head.
“Oh my!" Sam didn’t like the look of things as they were unfolding.
"Merry what's goin' on?" Pippin asked nervously, inching closer to his comrade.
Haldir drew in a deep breath, "Felicity?"
She did not answer him.
Though he did not like the notion of anyone ignoring him, he stood up and walked over to her; "Felicity are you alright?" he reached for her arm as she was gathering Sam's pots and pans.
He looked at Kimber now over his shoulder, who gave him a look as if to say, ‘We knew this was coming,’ Felicity catching the exchanged glance was seething now as she rustled the pans furiously.
Not knowing what else to say, Haldir caught a glimpse of the lembas, "Do you suppose I could have a piece of lembas also, Melamin?" he inquired; if his words had been any sweeter, honey would have dripped from his mouth.
She glared at her sister then at him, "No, Haldir, I have something more suited for the likes of you," she hissed.
All eyes were on them now as she threw the very pan that had the sausage in it at him; hitting him in the chest and sending htaggtaggering to the floor...
The group stood frozen, amazed by what they had just witnessed as Haldir remained motionless on the ground; his brow now lowered and teeth clenched. He resembled the likeness of a teakettle at the brink of boiling over.
Kimber watched on in dread, for she knew that her sister may have stepped over the line. Felicity was glaringHaldHaldir, waiting for his response to her actions. Kimber had a feeling that her wait was soon coming to an end as Haldir now pushed himself up off of the ground in one swift motion. Should she try and interfere before the situation became worse?
“Felicity, What are you doing?” she decided to go for it.
“Stay out of this!” Felicity glared at her sister.
“What is wrong with you?!” Kimber insisted, voice steadily elevating.
“This has nothing to do with you, this is between me and Haldir,” Felicity gave Kimber a look of warning.
“But Haldir has done nothing wrong to you! Why are you treating him like this?!” Kimber challenged her sister.
“Are you suggesting that I treat him as you do?” Felicity moved closer to Kimber now.
“If he has done nothing wrong to you then; YES!” Kimber did not back down from her sister even though she was now but a few feet from her.
“What is going on Merry?” Pippin looked at his friend with concern.
“I don’t know, Pip. Think we should break it up?” Merry replied.
“Best not int involved in family business,” Sam insisted,” Besides it seems as though Kimber can hold her own,” he continued. The two nodded in agreement with Sam as they continued to watch the scene take place before them.
“You see this! This is what happens when evil is allowed to endure,” Boromir offered smugly to Aragorn and Frodo who were standing near by. “You should have left those witches tied to that tree where you found them!” he looked over to Merry and Pippin.
“Enough, Boromir,” Aragorn commanded.
“Tell me, my Princling elf, have you ever had the pleasure of seeing two lovely maidens come to blows?” Gimli turned to Legolas as he was sitting next to him on a log.
“Indeed, Master Dwarf, I never had such an experience,” Legolas replied.
“Well then you are in for a treat!” Gimli leaned in close to the elf now, “What do you say we make it interesting…I put my new bow on Felicity!”
“Don’t you mean Haldir’s bow?” Legolas cocked his head and smiled, “For if that is the case, then what have you got to lose, nothing?”
“Are you going to make a wager or sit there gabbing?” i gri gruffed.
“Calm down, Master Dwarf, my bow and I choose…Haldir,” Legolas grinned.
“Haldir? That is not fair!” Gimli insisted.
“Not fair? All is fair in love and war,” Legolas smiled first at Gimli then to Orophin who was sitting across from them.
“My dear brother, would you please pass me my water skin, I have a feeling that we are in for a treat,” Rumil smiled at Orophin.
“Why yes, I do so agree and I venture to say that we’ve the best seats in the house,” Orophin smiled in return. “With the exception of Haldir of course,” he motioned to his brother who was almost sandwiched in between the two.
“Don’t think that I do not see all that goes on around me between you and the others,” Felicity hissed at her sister.
“I am surprised that you can see anything with your ass on your shoulders!” Kimber retorted.
“I can see well enough to notice that you have developed quite a taste for the elves,” Felicity snapped back.
“A taste for the elves?” Kimber quirked a brow at her sister.
“Oh come off it with the ‘innocent’ act” Felicity angrily offered her sister the benefit of a quotative hand gesture.
“Innocent? At least one of us still is,” she looked intently at Felicity.
Felicity paused for a moment and looked at Haldir. He had betrayed her trust and if looks could kill he would have been lying there dead on the ground. He looked away from her and she turned her attention back to her sister once more.
“Interesting choice of words from someone who has deemed it necessary in her short time here to cavort with the likes of Rumil then Legolas and of course…Haldir! Well what do you know, having my ass on my shoulders surely has not clouded my perspectives; I see a pattern here, it seems as though it has become necessary for Kimber to have a go at every elf in her presence,” Felicity smirked, “Though you missed one!”
Felicity walked over to Orophin, snatched him up by his tunic and shoved him in Kimber’s direction. “Why Orophin, I do believe it is your turn to have a go at her!”
A look of bewilderment came over Orophin’s face as he stumbled into Kimber knocking her down. She was ash and and embarrassed now, making no effort to get up. Drawing her knees to her chest, she tried hiding herself from the group.
Legolas walked over to where Kimber was sitting and knelt down beside her. “Kimber,” hisphispered trying to lift her chin, “Please do not fret, I know that is not true,” He reassured her in a soothing tone. Kimber looked to him now, her eyes tearing as he lifted her to her feet.
“Felicity!” Haldir bellowed, “Your behavior is inexcusable!”
“My behavior!” Felicity laughed wickedly as she now focused her attention on him once more; she had been waiting for this! It was just a matter of time before he would have to offer his two cents or rather, this was Haldir, so perhaps it was five cents, “Surely you must be joking!” she narrowed her eyes at him.
Hearing Felicity’s tone coupled with the look of her eye was all it took for Merry, Pippin and Sam to quickly dart across the camp to where Kimber and Legolas stood. Upon reaching their destination they clung onto the couple for dear life. Frodo remained standing along side of Aragorn, Gimli and Boromir watching the scene unfold, as did Rumil and Orophin who remained seated on a nearby log.
Haldir moved closer to her, “You have been intolerable the past few days and it will desist immediately!” he ordered.
“I have been intolerable?! Lest we forget your little temper tantrum last night! Not very valiant for someone of your position to go around acting like a horse’s ass, March Warden!” she seethed as she was now face to face with him, “And do not tell me what to do, my behavior will desist when I want it to, got it?!”
“Felicity, please,” Frodo offered pleadingly as he took a step closer to where the two stood.
Haldir now realized Frodo’s nearness and shot him a look of detest over his shoulder; he was doing everything in his power to control his instinctive urge which at the moment was to just choke the living daylights out of Felicity; and he was maintaining his self control; if Frodo got involved; there was no tellwhatwhat would become of things.
“Now is not the time, Frodo,” Aragorn placed a hand on his shoulder and pulled him back “they have to work this out themselves.” Frodo offered him a look of confusion.
Haldir paused for a moment and looked at Felicity before quickly turning and walking away from her.
Kimber let out a sigh of relief; this was certainly an unexpected turn ventvents.
Even Rumil and Orophin could not believe that their brother had simply walked away from a confrontation.
“Is it safe?” Merry peeked up at Legolas.
“For the moment,” he replied, now hoping that the hobbits would give him a little space.
“Come now, Sam, Merry, Pippin, let’s give our friend some room to breathe,” Aragorn walked over to them and motioned for them to take a seat on a nearby log; they obliged. Though Kimber still clung to Legolas still a bit upset with her sister’s harshness.
