Chapter 17
Two days on the road, and especially the last day coming over the Misty Mountains, had taken their toll on Calla. Her butt alternated between aching and being completely numb - neither of which were her favorite sensations - her back hurt, her legs cramped, and her temper shortened with each passing mile.
"Are we there yet?" she asked for the ten thousandth time that afternoon.
"No, we are not there yet. We will tell you when we're there. You've asked that every five minutes for the last two hours!" Haldir grumbled, looking at Legolas and rolling his eyes.
The trio rode in silence for the next few minutes, the only sound the muffled clop of the horses' hooves on the soft ground.
"Are we there yet?"
"No!" Legolas replied, a little testily. "For the love of Eru, Calla, please stop asking!"
"Arewethereyetarewethereyetarewethereyetarewethereyet?
"NO!"
"How about now?
"NO!"
"Now?"
"NO!"
"How about now?"
"NO you think you're very funny, don't you?" Legolas said, finally realizing that Calla was teasing them. Calla tried to put on an innocent face, but failed miserably, grinning instead.
"Someone's looking for a spanking," Haldir said sternly, using his "March Warden" voice.
"Oh, really?" Calla answered, looking over her shoulder at the Silvan riding behind her, "and I suppose you're just the Elf to give it to me?"
"I'm just the Elf to give you something, at any rate "
"Something as in what you gave me this morning, and again when we stopped for lunch?"
"Complaining? You didn't complain this afternoon. How many times did she scream out, Legolas? Three?"
"Four."
"Could you two possibly be more arrogant?" Calla said, although a small smile played about her lips.
"That's not being arrogant that's just stating the facts," Haldir laughed, bending his head to gently bite at her neck, his free hand rising to cup a breast.
"Oh, no, buster no more until we get to Rivendell. I'm not about to spend another night on the road!" Calla said, pushing his hand away and pulling her neck out of reach of his mouth.
"Sigh then I suppose " Haldir said, giving Legolas a wink, "that we should hurry."
Without any warning, both Haldir and Legolas kicked their mounts, which burst forward into an all out gallop.
Screaming, Calla frantically searched for something to hold on to as the horse underneath fairly flew down the road. Haldir tightened his grip around her waist, grinning into the wind at her flailing arms.
After a short while, the Elves pulled up their horses, slowing to a walk. Turning her body as far as she could, Calla prepared to let loose a torrent of insults and curses at them, her heart still beating wildly from the ride.
Before she could utter a syallable, Haldir caught her head with his hand and kissed her soundly. He turned her head to look ahead of them, whispering, "Peace, Calla look. We. Are. There."
Before her, nestled in the rocky cliffs of the mountain, hugging an enormous, roaring waterfall, was Rivendell. Her breath caught in her throat as she gazed on the beauty of The Last Homely House, the setting sun glinting gold and red in the foaming falls of water.
"Oh, my it's so beautiful!" she murmured in awe of the place.
Legolas smiled, reaching over to take her hand. "Are you certain you don't want to spend one more night alone?" He slowly slid one of her fingers into his warm, moist mouth, his blue eyes looking into hers.
"No yes no yes Legolas, stop trying to confuse me! I want to get to Rivendell!"
Laughing, they began moving down the road toward Imaldris.
"Elrond the Half-Elven, Lord of Imaldris, may I present the Lady Calla," Legolas said, as the three travelers stood before the Rivendell Lord in the Great Room of Elrond's House.
"Welcome to Rivendell, Lady," Elrond said, smiling at Calla. "Welcome also, Haldir, March Warden of Lothlorien. It has been far too long since you have visited. Legolas, as always, it is a pleasure to have you here."
"Thank you, Lord Elrond. I still can't believe that I'm really here it's all so wonderful!" Calla replied, smiling back at the dark haired Elf.
She could barely take her eyes from him. All the Elves she had met thus far had been silver and gold - his ebony hair and swarthier skin seemed exotic to her, and she felt that she could easily become lost in the dark depths of his eyes.
"The messenger Celeborn sent ahead of you has explained the purpose of your visit. You will meet with Erestor soon, and can commence with your translations as soon as you're are rested. I think tomorrow might be best, since I'm sure you are tired from the journey."
"Thank you, again, Lord Elrond. I am a bit tired," Calla answered.
"I shall have a servant show you to your quarters. Perhaps you would be agreeable to taking dinner with me this evening?" he asked, looking directly at Calla, who nodded mutely at his invitation.
"We have need of only one room, Lord Elrond," Haldir interjected before Elrond could give the summoned servant instructions, earning him a raised eyebrow from Elrond.
"Both of you seems the Lady has more stamina than I'd first thought " he chuckled, nodding for the servant to show them to their sleeping quarters. Since Calla turned her back to follow the servant out, she didn't notice Elrond's eyes follow her, or the expression of interest in their midnight depths.
"Legolas! Hold up!" a pair of voices called from down the hall as the trio was being led to their rooms.
Turning, Legolas broke into a grin at the sight of the two dark Elves running up the hall toward him.
"Elrohir, Elladan good to see you!" he called, embracing the twins as they reached him. Calla's breath caught as she watched Legolas and one of the twins - she wasn't sure which since they were mirror images of each other - claim each other's lips in a hot, openmouthed kiss, while the other twin nuzzled alternately on Legolas and his brother's neck.
"Are they going to do it right here in the hall?" Calla whispered to Haldir, who snorted in reply.
Her voice, though low, caught the attention of one of the twins, who turned to stare appreciatively at her with sparkling dark gray eyes. "Who might this be who travels with our Prince?" he asked, "I know the March Warden, but not the lovely Lady."
"Elrohir, may I present the Lady Calla. Calla this is Elrohir, son of Elrond," Haldir replied. "The one with his tongue down Legolas' throat is Elladan."
Elladan waved a hand in Calla's direction, unwilling to give up the lip lock he had on the Prince of Mirkwood.
Elrohir approached Calla, eyeing her with obvious interest. "Welcome to The Last Homely House, Lady Calla," he said, picking up her hand and kissing the back of it lightly. Not relinquishing her hand, he planted a feather soft kiss on her wrist. "I hope your stay here will be pleasant," he continued, kissing her forearm. "It would please me greatly to show you the sights of our fair city," he said, kissing the inside of her elbow. "I think you might enjoy all we have to offer," he murmured, kissing her shoulder. Looking up into her eyes, a sly smile on his face, he said, "We do have much to offer." His hand traveled to her face, his lips finding hers.
Turning to Haldir, he smiled at the big Silvan, reaching out to touch his silvery hair. "Such lovely locks, March Warden. I have always been partial to blondes. Welcome once again to our fair city." Elrohir's hand slid through Haldir's hair, pulling his head closer so that he could reach his lips also. Haldir responded to the dark Elf, slipping his tongue into Elrohir's mouth, running his hand through the other Elf's black tresses.
Elladan and Legolas finally came up for air, and approached the other three.
"The twins and I practically grew up together," Legolas explained to Calla, who was looking at him with a raised brow. "Elladan, perhaps you might wish to welcome Calla more formally now." He nudged the other Elf forward. Elladan grinned, bending to kiss Calla fully, his hands snaking around to cup her bottom, his arousal painfully evident as it pressed against her stomach.
"Why don't we accompany you to your rooms so that " Elladan began.
" we might welcome you more thoroughly " Elrohir finished, his arm around finding its way around Legolas' waist.
Haldir looked down at Calla, an eyebrow raised in a silent question. Calla knew immediately what he was asking - whether or not she wanted to accept the advances of the lovely, raven-haired twins.
She smiled up at him, letting him know that she wasn't adverse to the proposition. How could she refuse? Four Elves? One, sure two, perhaps. But four at once? It was too good to pass up.
The five of them followed the servant, who led them to the room Haldir, Calla, and Legolas would share during their stay in Rivendell. They entered, the door closing softly behind them.
