Fifteen Years
Chapter 17: Farewells and Foes
"Wake up, my sleeping lovelies." She murmured softly, reaching her hand to tickle her fingers across Celeborn's brow.
He brushed them away and buried his face against Legolas' shoulder. She persisted, tickling his neck. "Wake up, sleeping lovely."
Finally, he turned slowly, sliding his arm from around Legolas' waist. Legolas had felt the long powerful body tense slightly, and smiled to himself as he listened to Galadriel's softly coaxing voice. Celeborn pretended to blink slowly awake, and Galadriel bent to place a soft kiss on his lips. "There you are, my sleepy...AAAIII!"
Galadriel's voice tailed off in a shriek as her husband grabbed her about the waist and pulled her down between him and Legolas, his fingers tickling her ribs mercilessly. She shrieked again, burbling with laughter as she tried to catch his hands and pull them away. Legolas rolled slightly away from them to avoid flying elbows and squirming knees. At last, Celeborn stopped, kneeling above them on the bed, his silver hair tussled as it flowed over his broad shoulders. "Melleth, you know it is a dangerous thing to wake me!"
Galadriel laughed. "Ai, but if we are to actually see Glorfindel off this lovely day, then you had best get out of bed! And that goes for you, as well, Sarnlass!"
Celeborn dropped his weight to his hands, leaning over Galadriel. "Now why, when I have such a beautiful elleth in my bed would I want to do any such thing?"
"My lord!" Galadriel cried out in mock horror, fluttering her hands at her breast dramatically, "Surely you do not intend to ravish me! And in front of your innocent courtesan?"
At that, Legolas snorted with laughter and Celeborn joined in. "And, what, my dear, would you say about it if I do?"
She looked up at her husband with amused eyes, her smile glimmering, "I would say that you, my lord, have duties to see to, not the least of which is seeing Lord Glorfindel of Imladris off on his return voyage!"
Celeborn sighed and heaved himself off the bed. "Then ravishing you shall have to wait. What a pity."
Legolas also slipped from the bed and reached for his robe. Galadriel sprawled on the bed and pulled the coverlet over herself, gown and all. "Perhaps I shall have to wait right here until you can return, husband."
At Celeborn's mock baleful glare she repented and rose gracefully. "We're to meet him at the city gates. Come along, Sarnlass, I'm sure he'll want to say goodbye."
Glorfindel and his escort were assembled at the city gates, their horses gleaming and fresh for the journey. Galadriel stepped forward and gave him a stately embrace, reminding him to take good care of her daughter and to return for a longer visit as soon as possible.
Celeborn gripped his forearm and they spoke briefly of the communiques that Glorfindel carried to Lord Elrond, then they said a final farewell. Celeborn nodded to Legolas and he stepped forward, smiling broadly at the Seneschal.
Lord Glorfindel smiled back before his expression turned somber. "Be well, Sarnlass, Courtesan of the House of Thranduil. May you serve the Lord and Lady well."
Legolas bowed deeply and replied as formally, "Thank you for all you've done, My Lord. I shan't forget it."
Glorfindel's crystal gaze lingered for a long moment on the silver tree that hung from Legolas' collar and he shook his head slightly, saying in a low voice, "Don't worry, Courtesan. I fully intend to have you make recompense to me."
Celeborn cleared his throat with a faint smile and Glorfindel stepped back, winking saucily at his fellow lord as he leapt into the saddle. With a wave, he signalled his men and they rode out beneath the arching mallorn trees, where dew steamed away in the spring morning sun leaving them surrounded by a hazy mist. As the watchers waved and called their farewells, Celeborn stepped to Legolas' side. "May I know what it is you owe Glorfindel?"
Legolas cast a last glimpse towards the flash of gold disappearing into the wood and then turned to smile up at his lord, "Let us just say that I would not be where I am now without his aid, My Lord."
Celeborn nodded thoughtfully at that, taking a long look at Legolas, who strove stand still under his scrutiny. Fortunately, years of dealing with his father's infamous temper had given him a good grounding in such things, and it was Galadriel who charmed her way between them. In a hushed voice, she said, "My dear, didn't you make me a promise earlier? And Sarnlass will want breakfast. I assume you're taking him to the borders with you?"
Celeborn's gaze shifted and he smiled down at the golden maid before him. "Yes. Go on, Sarnlass, break your fast and gather your things, and I shall see you back here in an hour." At Galadriel's pointed head shake and following pout, he laughed aloud, "All right, two hours. And Sarnlass... Remember our bargain."
Legolas chuckled as he left them, making his way to the breakfast hall.
Two hours later he returned to the gate, the dew-damp grass cool beneath his bare feet. As he strode through the city, he felt the eyes upon him, and nearly smiled to himself. He wished he could see what they were seeing as he walked past the Elves going about their daily business. If he had, he may have been surprised. Although Legolas thought himself handsome enough, he thought all Elves were beautiful, and of course why would he be any different?
What he could not know was that his lean body, solid and muscular as the trained warrior he was, gleamed like gold in the early morning sun. His blond hair, loose and streaming about his face, poured down his bare back, brushing past the waist of the soft yellow doe-skin riding trousers he wore. Where the trousers ended just below his knees, his calves flexed and rolled as he walked. Across his chest, the cross-straps of his knife harness accented each outlined muscle, and crossed over the fine line of his collarbone.
As Legolas reached the meeting place, he was not surprised to find a few other Elves assembled, amongst them MarchWarden Haldir, astride his white horse, his expression unreadable. His voice was curt, "Courtesan. Your horse awaits you."
Legolas turned to where Haldir gestured and beheld a strong bay mare, her bare neck arched, her saddleless back gleaming. He smiled and greeted the mare warmly, trying to ignore the glaring eyes of the March Warden he felt at his back, unaware that most of the eyes upon him stared blatant admiration.
"Her name is Sivan." Legolas turned to face Rúmil and smiled as the Warden came forward and stroked the mare's nose. Rúmil's voice lowered to a murmur. "Lord Celeborn himself requested her for you. I must say he was rather insistant on the point."
Legolas nodded, keeping his smile even, careful not to give away his bargain with the Elf Lord. "Thank you, Rúmil. She's a fine beast."
When Sivan turned her head to appraise him with one lidded eye, Legolas chuckled. "A fine HORSE, I meant. A very fine horse."
Sivan snorted and the wardens around them laughed at the antics of Courtesan and animal. Then Lord Celeborn appeared, dressed in soft green riding attire. Legolas did not meet his gaze, but felt it sweeping over him with a barren intensity.
"Mae govannen, My lord," Haldir's voice rumbled in greeting.
"Haldir." Celeborn returned the greeting informally. "Is all made ready?"
"Aye. We ride to the southernmost post directly and then will circle the fences back northwards." Haldir gestured to those around him, "Mount up!"
Legolas took a handful of mane and leaped lightly to Sivan's back while around him the Wardens found their own mounts. Celeborn mounted and then turned in the saddle. Very few ever truly knew what Lord Celeborn was thinking at any given time. His staid public facade was often only the first layer covering his thoughts and emotions, but Legolas did not need the aid of Galadriel's sight to interpret the narrowed eyes, the lowered brow, and the ghost of a half smile on Celeborn's face. The Lord was very pleased with the result of his bargain.
They trotted through the forest at a liesurely pace, enjoying the morning sun as it streamed through the golden mallorns and lit the forest with a tremoring of shimmmering beams of light. Legolas smiled to himself, feeling his bare feet swing at the mare's sides, the decadent celebration of the spring sun across his bare skin, and the soft sway of his hair down his back. Decadent. There was no other word to describe the sensation in his mind.
Legolas, the Prince of Mirkwood would have been ashamed of such thing, to be boldly paraded half-naked through the forest, surrounded by fellow warriors. It would have caused no cease of rumor in the Court of Mirkwood. But Sarnlass the Courtesan was free to enjoy the sensual experience to the fullest, even peaking his ears to hear the whispers of admiration that the wardens around him murmured.
"Sarnlass!" Celeborn called suddenly, and Legolas nudged Sivan close to him only to see the lord smile wickedly. "Ride in front of me, behind the MarchWarden. I cannot properly admire you back there."
Legolas blushed but obeyed, encouraging Sivan ahead, only to catch the sharp glance of the March Warden as he glanced back over his shoulder and shook his head sharply with a disapproving glare. Legolas attempted to ignore it, and still, his mood was dampened somewhat as they made their way southwards through the forest.
ta da!

Some chapters write themselves. Some need help. Some just need to be thrown out with the bathwater and started over again. Unfortunately, Illiene, Rúmil and some elf I didn't recognize were all still in the bath, so I didn't dare throw out anything. *sigh*
.
DarkDreamer: :) Nothing to fall out of your chair about this time, I'm afraid. But I do hope you like our bare-chested Courtesan.
nikkiling: Glad you liked it! Yes, we'd love to have a naked Legolas doing just about anything, but riding might be a weeeee bit uncomfortable. Haldir ..Haldir... we shall have to do something about Haldir, shan't we? *evil*
MarzBar: Sorry I fell down on the smut quotient this week. I'll remedy it.. very very soon. lol And No, I'm not running an escort service! I just happen to be the current Head Courtesan in Lothlorien, and as such have some very special..ummm...priveleges. Galadriel and Haldir, hmmm? I'll see what I can do!
Naira: Ooops. Rendered you speechless? I'm very sorry. I'll try to control my Elves better in the future.... err...NOT! :D
MorierBlackleaf: :) What a cute pout! Too bad it doesn't work on me. Don't worry. It will all be explained sooner or later...perhaps later...
Soda: Oh VALAR!!!! What did you do to Haldir??? Oh no! Not good. Not good at all! Fix him! Fix him now, before Celeborn finds out! *throws towel over Palantir and pretends to be writing* la la la...
Minerva: tee hee! I'm glad you liked it! hee hee...everyone wants the Legolas and Haldir thing. Well it's no good NOW! Soda BROKE Haldir. So you can't blame me.
Emmess: :) Yes, well, I was inspired last week. :) This week is another matter entirely, I'm afraid. Yes, some guard duty with Sarnlass and Haldir would have been nice, however.....the March Warden, is, sadly, indisposed.. Apparently Soda BROKE him. Any suggestions on who we should get to fill in for him?
kîan: Welcome on board! I agree that sometime the hot sex scenes get a bit tedious. I try to avoid repition, always bring something new into the umm..equation, so to speak. (There is a repetition in this story and it was intentional. If you find it, and figure it out, let me know. :) (Sometimes I think I'm too subtle for my own good.)
Lessee... Questions; Will someone find out Sarnlass' true name? Hmm.. Do you really want me to give that away? Or do you like surprises?
How many chapters are left? Roughly, I would guess there are perhaps 15-20 chapters remaining, with only the next four actually written, and the rest outlined and ready to roll. I try not to box myself in too much with my outlines, since Haldir, Legolas and even Celeborn have proven to be extremely unreliable in this story!
Tuxedo Elf: *hands roll of paper towels.* HEre, you'll probably want these later. So, you want naked Legolas on horseback, do you? *sigh* Don't we all? :D
Manitou: Thanks for the ideas and the inspiration. You know I adore you, right?
