Chapter Seventeen
Traveling to Mirkwood
Hands tangled in his hair as he was pulled closer and he heard a moan. When
Elrohir realized it belonged to him, he stepped back from Elladan breathing
heavily.
Elladan, gasping, looked at him with an odd expression on his face before he
turned away.Elrohir took a step forward, but Elladan held up his hand to stop him. “Don’t.”“Don’t what?” Elrohir asked afraid he had upset his brother. **Elladan?**“Just give me a minute, please?” Elladan asked without looking at his
brother.Elrohir stayed where he was and nervously watched Elladan as he stood in
silence. Regret and sorrow flowed through him as he thought about what he had
talked Elladan into. (It was supposed to just be a test…just to see if we
could and we did. Not just once, but twice. Kisses lovers would share…and we
enjoyed it. There is no denying that fact. Tthe bulges in our leggings are all
the proof I need. Sweet Eru, I should have never suggested it. What was I
thinking? I wasn‘t thinking, that is the problem.)
“Well, we found out that we could kiss,” Elladan said, breaking the
silence much to Elrohir’s relief.
“Aye, we did,” Elrohir agreed with a nod. “We better bathe and return
to camp before father sends Glorfindel to check on us, Dan.” Elrohir said as
he began to remove his clothing.“Aye, I wouldn’t want to explain our reason for not even being in the
water yet to him.” Elladan chuckled as he removed his tunic.“You are…..your kiss is…you are talented,” Elrohir said, blushing in
a way Elladan had never seen before.Elladan, embarrassed himself, laughed before returning the compliment. “As
are you, Roh…..very.”~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~MirkwoodThree days before the Imladris party was due to arrive, Legolas knocked on
the king’s office door. Once he was welcomed in, he sat in a chair in front of
his father’s desk and gave him a smile.“Legolas,” his father said, greeting him happily. “I haven’t had much
time to see you since your return. I am glad you came by.”“I know. I have been making sure everything is ready for Lord Elrond and
his party,” Legolas replied, smiling slightly.“That is something that the staff will take care of. You need not bother
with trivial things such as that,” Thranduil replied with a frown.“I know father, but they were so kind and generous while I was there. I
wanted to be sure they would be comfortable here,” the prince explained hoping
the king would understand.“Are you here because you miss me or because you have a problem?”
Thranduil asked his youngest. Legolas was most like his mother in temperament,
and the king could read him like an open book when he wanted
to discuss something.“There are several things I need to tell you, but I am unsure where or how
to begin,” Legolas admitted with a sigh.“Well, it is always best to begin at the beginning,” the king replied
with a grin. “Is there some trouble I do not know about?”“Nay,” Legolas lied, deciding it would be better to bring up Thaladirith
later. “I feel it is good news, but I am unsure what you will think or how you
will react.”“There is only one way to find out, my son,” Thranduil said, still
smiling. “Tell me what it is and we will go from there.”“I was not completely truthful when I said that Elladan and Elrohir were
merely acquaintances,’ Legolas began nervously. “The three of us spent a
great deal of time together and I found myself growing very fond of them.”“Fond of them?” the king asked.“Well, more than fond,” Legolas admitted, slowly. “I fell in love with
them, father, and they with me. I know that it is not an ordinary situation…”“Nay, it is not,” Thranduil answered evenly, hiding his delight at the
news. “How can you love them both, Legolas? You do not favor one more than the
other?”“I do not, and that part is causing me a great deal of confusion,”
Legolas confessed hesitantly. “I feel the same for both of them and, Elrohir
advised me to listen to my heart. My heart tells me I cannot live without either
of them.”“Your mother always said that your heart would guide you,” the king
answered. “It seems your heart knows what it wants. I would advise you to
follow it.”“You are not upset that I love Elrond’s sons?” Legolas asked in
confusion.“Nay, indeed I am happier than I have ever been,” Thranduil admitted,
smiling at Legolas’ confusion. “The letter I sent to Elrond suggested we
find a way to ensure our sons would sail to Valinor. If Elladan and Elrohir
choose elfkind, it will be in part because of their love for you, my son. It
seems we did not need to scheme to bring you together.”“You and Elrond were going to work together?” the prince asked in shock.
“You were going to try to make Elladan and Elrohir fall in love with me? And
me with them?”“Aye and it did not matter which you chose. The twins will make their
choice of mankind or elfkind together…”“Aye, I know. Elrohir told me,” Legolas interrupted, somewhat angrily.
“I can’t believe you were going to do that. What if I despised them or them
me?”“That was a chance Elrond and I were willing to take,” Thranduil answered
firmly. “Calm yourself, Legolas. A father will do anything to ensure his son
will sail and live an eternity in Valinor. My love for you and your brothers
knows no bounds. While I have been sure of your brothers’ decisions, yours has
remained elusive. For all I knew, you could have decided to remain here and fade
into legend with all the other elves who decide not to sail. I would have done
anything to make sure you join us in the Undying Lands - as would Elrond for
Elladan and Elrohir.”Legolas remained quiet as he thought about his father’s words. Although he
had no children, he would do anything to make sure Elladan and Elrohir would
choose elfkind and sail so they could live their lives in Valinor. If the twins
chose mankind, he would stay with them and die. He would fade from grief if the
twins died, so their lives were connected for eternity. Better to live and
celebrate their love in Valinor than to stay
and fade.“I think I understand your reasoning, father,” Legolas said finally. “I
do not agree with your plan, but I know you were only doing what you thought you
had to do.”“Aye, I was,” Thranduil admitted readily. “Is there something else you
wish to tell me?“Nay, I think that is everything,” Legolas answered. He
would find a way to deal with Thaladirith on his own.“It is nearly time for the mid-day meal. Walk with me to the dinning hall
and you can share more about your twins,” the king suggested, grinning
mischievously.Thaladirith entered his office just as the king and Legolas exited the study.
He was filled with rage and was already planning a way to exact revenge on the
prince. Seething with anger, he destroyed his office, leaving nothing unturned.(Legolas lied about his relationship with the twins! How dare he! Oh, he
will pay, and pay dearly. The sons of Elrond will not live long once they pass
the borders of Mirkwood. I need a plan, a foolproof plan…I will use Legolas as
bait; if they love him as he says, they will come to his rescue. *All*
three of them will die.)As he planned, Thaladirith relaxed in a chair with a glass of Dorwinion wine.
(The prince should have known better than to lie to me.) The captain
called for his assistant to clean up the mess he had made before heading to the
dining hall for a shared lunch with one of his prey. An evil grin spread over
his face as he thought of the pain and suffering the three would endure before
they breathed their last excruciating breath. (What a beautiful thing to
watch, an elf take his last breath...)~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Traveling to Mirkwood
“It seems like your plan to unite with Thranduil in his plan is
unnecessary,” Erestor commented as he watched the twins banter back and forth.
“Perhaps it is for the best,” Elrond replied, as Elrohir swatted at his
brother. “If we had had to resort to scheming, I’m afraid the three of them
would have balked if they found out.”“I told you it was best to leave things alone,” Glorfindel interjected.
“Thranduil’s plan was pure lunacy and I have a feeling it would have failed
miserably.”“Oh, I don’t know that it would have failed,” Erestor replied,
chuckling. “I do know that if Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir had found out they
where being manipulated they would have done the opposite of what was wanted
just to spite you and the king.”“Aye, the three of them are stubborn enough to have done that,”
Glorfindel agreed, laughing. “You would have had a mess on your shoulders
then, Elrond - and Thranduil as your only ally. That would have been something
to see!”Elrond laughed in spite of himself and shook his head. “I would do it if it
meant securing their future. I love all of my children, and after loosing Arwen,
I couldn’t bear the thought of losing my sons.”“None of us could have, mellonen,” Erestor said, patting his lord on the
back. “Glorfindel and I helped raise them, and they are like family to us, as
are you.”“He is right, Elrond,” the blond warrior agreed. “We are family, even
if not by blood. I only hope Legolas will become a part of it as well.”“We shall see. We should be at the borders tomorrow afternoon,” Elrond
stated, a slight smile on his face as he looked at Elladan and Elrohir. “Hopefully
a certain blond prince will be among the party that greets us.”
