Lena took a deep breath. She couldn’t believe this was happening. Behind a dressing shade, Travis had changed into tight doe skin pants and a knee length leather jerkin over a deep green shirt. She’d never seen him like that, and his familiarity with all this was comforting and awkward all at the same time. He sat down on the bed, pulling on his boots, trying to keep in mind the shock that she was feeling at all this. “There’s something a bit more suitable behind the dressing shade..” He noted the fact that she was still standing in the open doorway in a night slip. When she didn’t respond, he stood, walking over to her. “There is something for you to change into over there.” She looked up at him for a second before taking in what he had said.
She was a warrior at heart, he’d known a dress would only lead to protest on her part. Instead he’d given her a choice: a bell sleeved plum satin dress with a high neckline and a black belt which would hang low around her hips, or black leggings and a light gray/purple shirt with a dark gray vest which had been tailored for a woman. It flared slightly at the hip and extended to the floor with multiple slits to provide a wide range of mobility. It was no surprise to him when she came out looking every bit an elven warrior maiden. It took him a second to catch his breath at how well the clothing flattered her, her long hair caught in the slight breeze through the room. Remembering what he held, he offered out to her a pair of feminine looking black boots. “You look remarkable” She lowered her head as she went about putting her boots on, but he thought he saw a tinge of pink blush across her cheeks. “Trav, I don’t want to seem.. ungrateful.. because I did say I wanted to see Rivendell for real, but I didn’t expect it..” He tried not to laugh at her. “I can take you back..” She stands tall, placing a hand on his arm. “I didn’t say that.. I’m just, shocked.” He nodded in understanding, Rivendell was quite a spectacular place. “Whenever you’re ready, there are some people who’d like to meet you.”
At that statement, her eyes widened. People here, knew about her? “W-who?” “Well, as rare as it is for both twins to be under the same roof, I imagine they’ll both want to meet you. While I imagine their sister is here as well, they’re the only two I’ve spoken with. They were supposed to notify Elrond… I’ve never brought anyone before..” “We’re really in Rivendell..” Lena muttered, amazed still. “You really are, and Rivendell’s host awaits you and your guest Thalin..” At this, they both turned to the door where Elladan stood, watching them. Travis embraced Elladan before turning toward Lena. “Elladan, this is my friend Nibinaldawen, though we call usually call her Lena.” Lena swallowed hard, how had he known her elven name, that was just a stupid game off a website, it wasn’t real. “Lena, this is Elladan, one of Elrond’s sons.” With a smile, Elladan placed a soft kiss on Lena’s hand before flashing a playful smile to Travis. “You’ll have to excuse Elladan, Lena. He’s not used to the company of a beautiful mortal woman.” Elladan shoves Travis. “I’ll get you back later, father is waiting.”
Travis leads Lena from the room, but notices after a few steps that Elladan is not with them. “You’re not coming?” He turns back to his friend who shrugs. “You know me, never in one place, there’s always a battle to be fought.” Travis nods, whispering low to Lena. “Stupid than most is the orc who treads to close to Rivendell, Elladan has no love for the vermin.” Lena nods. Dear lord, she tried to remember the movie. What was she supposed to address people as.. was Elrond a king? Just as quickly as the thoughts flew through her head, they were gone as Travis led her from a shades pathway into a courtyard. At a long table sat Elrond and his daughter, Arwen. “Are we late my lord?” Travis asked softly, hoping he wasn’t interrupting something between the father and daughter. Elrond and Arwen rose from the table and crossed to greet the two. “Not at all Thalin.” He greeted Travis with a fatherly pat on the back before turning to look Lena over. Travis resisted the urge to sweep Arwen up in a hug, knowing that introductions had to me made. “Lord Elrond, this is Nibinaldawen, though she’s more used to the name Lena.” Elrond smiled, “Thalin, I recall you did not like your name at first either.” It was Travis’ turn to blush. It was true though, it had taken him a while to recognize the name as his own. “Lena, this is my daughter Arwen. I’m afraid everyone else seems to be having a late rising today, but please you’re welcome to come eat.” He ushered them to the table. Travis sat next to Arwen but gestured from Lena to sit across from him, leaving the seat directly to Elrond’s right free. “We do not starve because of the late habits of others here..” Elrond added as a familiar face took a seat on Lena’s right. He mumbled elven apologies under his breath. “Nice to see you again Elladan..” Lena said softly, eliciting a hushed giggle from Arwen as the man nodded in response to the name. “Elrohir” Arwen called. “how dare you lead her on..” Elrohir merely averted his eyes from Arwen’s. “The twins like causing trouble, it’s best if you ignore them both.” This is Arwen’s advice on the matter, and the grumbling from Elrohir seemed to disagree with it.
Breakfast was almost over when Aragorn came rushing to the table, apologies flowing freely. He explained the Travis and Lena that Arwen was to leave later that day and he had been waiting on the safe arrival of the convoy from Lothlorien. As breakfast adjourned, Aragorn and Arwen hurried off to spend a few last moments together. Elrond had to go speak with the group from Lorien before they departed. Travis led Lena back up to the bedroom they’d been in this morning. “This is really real..” Lena said as soon as they were there. Travis nods. “But how?” He sighed, he’d imagined he’d have to explain it once he showed her, even if he didn’t completely understand it himself.
Travis takes a seat on the bed, preparing to tell the long story. “When I was young, I hated my life.. I wanted to be anywhere else.. like that movie The Labyrinth, I would wish myself away, hoping someone would take me. My babysitter would read me the Lord Of The Rings books.. and one night I went to sleep wishing myself to Rivendell. That I could be a son to Elrond like Aragorn was..” Lena climbed onto the bed next to him, encouraging him to continue. “I woke up here, in this room. In the cabinet were clothes my size, and someone came and took me to Elrond. I explained to him what I am explaining to you. The elves believe greatly in the power of dreams, and even the ability of some people to use them as a means of transportation of sorts. I don’t know how it works, if our bodies are still in your room, asleep.. but when we return, everything will be as it was when we went to sleep.” It wasn’t like she could call him crazy, she was here, experiencing this with him. “And if I want to come back?” “I imagine Lena, that you could dream yourself here like I do..” “What if we were.. doing something.. and one of us thought of this place..” Travis couldn’t help but laugh at her as he leaned forward, nipping her neck. “You’d better hope you think of yourself here in this bed and not someone else’s..” He kissed her neck softly. “You have to close your eyes now and relax, and picture us back in your room.”
