Legolas slowly opened his eyes. He was totally disorientated; his head throbbed and his eyes burned in their sockets.
By Elbereth, where am I? He thought, looking around slowly. He didn’t see anything that looked even slightly familiar.
Suddenly he saw something moving behind his head. He quickly stood up, turned around as fast as his body allowed him to and stood face to face with an unicorn, before falling down again in pain and from fatigue.
~What – am – I doing – here?~ he managed to croak out in Elfish.
~You were hurt, so we brought you here to recover from your injuries.~ the Unicorn explained. In the meanwhile some other Unicorns approached him slowly.
~What – about – the – others? How a-are they fai-ring?~ he asked a little distressed.
~ I can not tell you for certain, but the stars have told me that most of them are alright.~
~ Most? W-what do you mean?~ Legolas demanded to know, trying to stand up again, but failing miserable.
~ I believe that there were more casualties on the Dark Site, maybe Voldemort was even defeated, but as i cannot tell for certain we are going to hide out here for a while.~
~But can you not take me back to Hogwarts?~
~No I am sorry, for starters you would not even survive the trip and Dumbledore asked us to hide here whenever Voldemort would try and take over the school.~
~Let me go by myself than. I am stronger than most humans, you know.~
~ You are deep inside the Forbidden Forest. We do not even know in whose favour this war is going to end. So as to protect you, we brought you here. We are a 10 days travel away from Hogwarts and we are still moving. Maybe in a few days you are up to it, but for now we are not going to let you go. You just have to rest and regain your strength. If you would go now, you would be either killed by dark creatures or from your injuries.~
~ So I have been unconscious for ten days now?~
~ No 15 days.~ The unicorn replied. ~ The spell cast on you was pretty strong, you were unconscious most of the time, having all kinds of delusions while you were awake. This is actually the first time that I have been able to hold a normal conversation with you. Now please rest Prince of Mirkwoord.~

“You have got to be kidding me!” Aragorn exclaimed. “I am not leaving him behind! No matter what!”
“But Aragorn you have to understand; conjuring up a portal is not easy and Galadriel will not be able to do it twice in such a short notice. Remember time travels a lot quicker here.” Gandalf told him. “It is time to face the fact that he is dead, Aragorn. We would have surely heard from him otherwise. It has been over three weeks now and we have searched for so long. There is just nothing else we can do. You saw the force of the spell that hit him, it even made him substantional. Who knows, he may have simply dissolved into thin air.” Gandalf spoke in a grim tone of voice.
“NO he is NOT dead! I would have known, I would have felt something. This cannot be it. I will not except it!” He yelled the last sentence with such fury, defeat and love, that it exactly expressed the mixed emotions he was feeling inside.
“I’m sorry Aragorn, but we came here together and thus we will leave.”
“No Gandalf! He is not dead. I am certain of it.” Strider said, even starting to doubt his own words now.
“How can you be so sure, my friend?”
“I do not know, I ... I just can.”
“Dumbledore and his followers will keep on searching. There is no need for you to stay here any longer. Your people need you, King Elessar. Remember that you are a king and that you have responsibilities towards your people. And if… I say IF Legolas is still alive, I am sure he will find his way back. He is a woodland Elf remember.”
Aragorn let out a loud sigh. Really not knowing what to do. Should he follow his heart and stay. Or his mind, which told him that Gandalf was right and a few days more or less wouldn’t matter anyway.
The chance that Legolas was still alive was so incredible slim. Besides Dumbledore and his parties would keep on looking. Staying here would only drive him insane and since time travels a lot quicker here, I might be able to return in a few days, while the search parties have been looking for weeks….
Although he tried to convince his heart, his mind just couldn’t win. His love for the Elf was too strong. Slowly a plan started to form inside his head.
“Alright.” He said in a defeated voice. “Maybe you are right. But I do want your reassurance Albus that you will keep looking for him.”
“I promise you just that.”

As a tribute to the fallen ones, that night’s dinner started with a ceremony, to honour their memories and remember the cause they died for.
Thankfully the casualties were slim among the students. Some still lay in the hospital wing, but were recovering well under Pompfrey’s caring hands. And for this many were grateful.
Dumbledore rose, and soon all eyes were upon him and the solemn, yet still present chatter died down almost immediately. Everyone’s attention was on him.
“Three weeks ago we finally succeeded in taking a big step forward in ending this ever lasting war. It is not over yet as some of Voldemort’s followers are still out there and waiting for their chance to fill his position, but that doesn’t take away the fact that we together accomplished something unimaginable: We stood up and defeated our greatest fear together. Without any of your help we couldn’t have come this far. For this I am ever grateful. I think by now you have discovered the identities from some of our new arrivals. Yes, it is true. They come from a different world, the same world where Voldemort’s spirit came from. They thought they had defeated him, but alas a piece of his spirit managed to escape and regain its power inside the body of Tom Riddle. Tom now lies in the hospital wing and will be attending our school this year. I want you all to understand that Tom Riddle and Voldemort are two entirely different individuals and that Voldemort only used Tom’s body and not his mind. He also doesn’t know about all the things that Voldemort has done whilst being inside his body. When he does find out it will be quite a shock to him, so I ask you all to treat him like any other normal student, as he is nothing more or less. He was just at the wrong place on the wrong time, Voldemort could have taken the body of anyone of us. I want you to remember that, when you even think of acting in a harmful way towards the boy.” Dumbledore eyed them all sternly, showing that he was very serious about the subject.
“Our new friends will be leaving tonight, but still I believe it’s appropriate to formally introduce them by their real names. Without them we couldn’t have won this fight.
If the Fellowship and Madam Pomfrey would be so kind as to approach me.”
Everyone looked surprised when the 4 presumed first years rose and approached the Head Table. They reacted less stunned when professors ‘Strider’ and ‘White’ did the same.
Gimli who had also been seated at the Head Table joint them as well.
“These are the people, who came all the way from their own world to assist us in our battle against Voldemort. Our world is not the first to be terrorised by his tactics. Since they come from a different world their real appearances are quite different from our standards, well this at least goes for some of them.” Dumbledore said smiling.
“First our Gryffindor first years. Madam Pomfrey if you may.”
“I think it would be best if you would take your shoes off……… thank you.” While Madam Pomfrey took away the cloaking spell and started to work on their feet, gasps could be heard throughout the hall. “Oh my God do you see that…Look at their feet!! How old are they??”
“Our four little friends here are actually Hobbits and are a lot older than you might think. Frodo here is just under 60 years old.”
The entire Great Hall looked at him surprised.
“Sixty years!!??” Seamus Finnegan repeated astonished. “But he seems so young!”
Frodo just smiled a little, what was there to say? He also smiled to cover the pain of something. The spell had returned all his old features, including the ones that reminded him far too well of the past and he flexed his right hand. The third finger was once again missing and he struggled to keep the smiling façade.
“Then we have our friend Gimli. He has been working undercover in Hogsmeade, so I don’t think you have seen him before.”
“Hey that’s that Napoleon dude.” A girl exclaimed.
“Well, I think I better take back my former statement. I guess some of you did notice him.” Dumbledore said with his usual twinkling eyes. “Gimli is actually a Dwarf as you can see clearly now.”
Gimli smiled nervously, muttering something inaudible, a slight blush covering his cheeks.
“The sixth member of the Fellowship is Strider, better known as King Aragorn. He is the only remaining Human within the Fellowship.
Professor White is also a wizard and goes by the name of Gandalf the White. His powers and the way he uses them are quite different from ours. For example: he uses a staff to focus his powers instead of a wand.
The headmaster paused and three students bit their lips, they knew what he was about to say. “The 8th member of the Fellowship was the Elven Prince Legolas.” A number of gasps for this statement, no one would have ever imagined that that fair blond boy was in fact a prince, or an elf for that matter. “He unfortunately died in battle, like many others. His body hasn’t been found yet, and we are still seeking. If anyone thinks he has any helpful information, please be so kind as to share it with us and approach me afterwards.”
The hall was now completely silent and more than a few girls were crying, even some boys were and Harry was struggling to stop Hermione’s crying from getting to him. Gimli hung his head and patted Pippin’s shoulder, all the hobbits were crying.
Again Aragorn’s eyes started to water, but he managed to compose himself, remembering the fact that there was still a little hope left and he was not about to give up on his lover.
“They will leave us all tonight.” Dumbledore continued, facing the 7 friends now. “I think I speak for everyone here that we couldn’t have done this without you and want to thank you for everything you have done for us, if there comes a time when you need our help don’t be afraid to ask. We will always be there to assist you.” Dumbledore smiled gently. “I know you sacrificed a lot, too much in fact by coming here, but I want you to know that we are aware of your courage and all you have done and will be in your debt forever.” Albus shook each of their hands, before changing the subject and becoming grimmer than before, if that were possible.
“Legolas is not the only one to have died in battle. Twenty other brave souls perished as well. Twelve from our own school which were eight beloved students, namely: Anthony Goldstein, Nancy Bitingroll, Susan Bones, Russell Wong, Jake Hayes, Miles Logan, Danny Vinyard and Jewel Tyler.”
One girl finally burst into tears and ran from the hall, followed closely by one of her friends who sought to comfort her. Danny had been her brother and although it had been over three weeks now, she had still of course difficulties to cope with his death.
Dumbledore swallowed and continued, blinking back his own tears. “And four respected teachers: Professor Nash, Professor Bartleby, Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick…”
Again he was interrupted, this time by two simultaneous muffled cries as Neville Longbottom from Griffindor and Terry Brooks from Ravenclaw hung their heads and fought back their tears. It was a well known fact that Neville had adored the Herbology teacher immensely as it was really the only subject he was good at, and Terry had simply been Flitwick’s undeniable favourite…it was like losing a member of the family. As the people around them patted them on the back soothingly Dumbledore cleared his throat and moved on.
“The other eight were well known Aurors who have protected us well all those years, we must give thanks to them and remember them for they will be sorely missed: Amos Diggery, Ron Howard, Graham Malkovich, Aramis Byrne, Daphne Hastings, Elphias Doge, Hestia Jones and the last, but never the least…Noud Baxter” He sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, letting a moment’s silence pass in mourning for those lost.
“We will always remember their heroic deeds” he said finally, startling many from the gloom that had fallen over them, “and many of us own their life’s to them. I ask you all to honour their thoughts and to never forget for what we were fighting here today. The struggle is not over yet. I want you all to remember that.” with those last words he sat down and quietly summoned the food.
As the first dinner they attended together since their last argument, Remus and Severus sat awkwardly next to each other. The both hadn’t spoken a word to each other since that memorable night a few days ago.
Not wanting to break the silence Severus reached over Remus to grab the salt, brushing his left arm against the other man’s lightly as he did so. At the bare touch Remus moved his chair back abruptly causing it to tip over and with a loud thud, it connected with the cold stone floor. Luckily Lupin had lifted his head just in time, he would have had a pretty bad concussion otherwise.
“Merlin, Lupin what in hell are you doing?” Snape asked indignantly, trying to pick Lupin off the floor without making the scene bigger than it was. It didn’t work of course because as he did this, Lupin backed away immediately and quite obviously.
“I…I just didn’t want to hurt you.” Remus stammered, still a little shaken.
“Hurt me? How in the bloody hell could YOU hurt me?” he asked exasperated, attracting the attention of the rest of the Head Table and some of the students. There was a suspicious knowing twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes that only Gandalf noticed, and he coughed quietly to hide the laugh.
“Well… uhm … remember last time I touched your arm, you got this intense pain? I guess I’m just cursed or something.” Remus whispered, sorrow clearly visible in his voice and facial expression. “Or do I revolt you so, that you can’t even stand my touch. I know you hate me and my kind and you only see me as a monster. But I care about you and would never want to see you hurt.”
“Lupin, you stupid git.” Snape hissed angrily. “It wasn’t you who hurt me, but Voldemort. Remember that all the Death Eaters receive the Dark Mark, well that caused the burning sensation you idiot! Not you! It’s just Voldemort’s way of summoning us all.”
“Are you really sure about this?” Remus questioned, doubting still.
“Yes, quite sure. I DO know how it feels like to be summoned by Voldemort. Mind you, he has done it hundreds of times, but to totally convince you…. here.” He said, grabbing Remus left arm and putting it on to his. “See? Nothing is happening. So now get over it and stop being such a melodramatic.” He added, brushing the hand off again and sitting down with a huff.
“So you don’t mind me touching you?” Remus asked innocently.
No, of cour…. I mean naturally I don’t appreciate it, would you touch me. It’s just that it doesn’t cause me pain.” He replied casually.
“Aaaah” Remus said, mocking him.
*SPOILER*
“What do you care anyway? You’re probably disappointed that you can’t hurt me in that way aren’t you? Now being the only one left of the Marauders and all. You do need to honour their deaths by making my life as horrible as possible, don’t you?”
*END SPOILER*
“When did I ever hurt your feelings Severus?” Remus asked him hurt showing in his voice.
“You are the one who has hurt my feelings more times than everyone else I know and that includes my parents!”
Severus looked shocked for a fleeting instant, but quickly recovered and put his mask of indifference back in place.
“You have no idea what my life has been like, so don’t talk to me about hurting.” Snape hissed. He stood up abruptly and started to walk away, balling his fists in suppressed anger.
“Severus Snape come back here right this instant!” Remus yelled at the retreating form of the Potion’s master. The entire Hall looked at him surprised, not at all used to his demanding kind of voice. The only one who seemed unimpressed was Severus who continued his way towards the dungeons.
Still Remus refused to give up and started to follow him.
He caught up with him easily. “Severus listen to me please. You can’t walk out on a conversation as important as this one. You are drawing your own conclusions, which aren’t even there.”
Severus didn’t give any sign that he was at all listening to the werewolf as he stubbornly walked on.
Gods, he is so incredibly thick-headed. Remus sighed, before he really had enough of his behaviour and decided to take more drastic measures. He ran up to him, grabbed him by the arm and pinned him to the nearest wall. “Now you listen to me.” Remus whispered angrily. “I don’t like to see you hurting. I know that my friends used to humiliate you, but remember that I did not. Although I almost never stood up against you at least not in public, I didn’t agree with the way they treated you at all. Really Sev you have got to open your eyes and don’t hide from the truth all the time. Do you like self pity or something?”
Severus stared at him a little dazed. The closeness of Remus made him almost incapable of thinking straight.
“I…uh.” He stammered, as he felt his body heat rising. “I think I’d better go.” He managed to say.
“No you’re not going until we have sorted everything out.” Remus spoke in firm voice, putting his foot down for once. “So what do I have to do for you to believe me Severus?” he asked, looking in his eyes, desperately searching for an answer. He had the other man still trapped against the wall and was also beginning to feel the site-effects of his closeness.
But he did not let it affect him for he new that the answers he was about to get were way more important than his lustful thoughts at the moment.
Severus just stared at him blankly.
“Severus do you think this is funny? I’m trying to hold a civil conversation with you here!” Remus said irritated.
“Yeah right conversation.. what were you saying again Remus?” Severus asked staring at Lupin.
“Remus? Since when do you call me Remus? Anyway I was talking about this hostile attitude you seem to have towards me, because of our past.”
The potion’s master finally regained most of his senses again and stood up a little straighter.
“Yes well you must admit that in the past certain events let to the point where we are right now.”
“Geez, Sev can you speak in any more riddles? Geez you’re beginning to look like a Vuaryn who has read too much Tolkien!!” Remus said, rolling his eyes. (a/n: heheheh got u there, didn’t I dear ;p)
“What’s a Vuaryn? And do we have to do this now? I am not feeling well.” Snape lied.
“Don’t you try to wiggle your way out of this one mister. We are going to have this talk, right here against this very wall.”
Severus cocked his eyebrows in amusement. “If you insist.”
Lupin blushed and stared at his feet, but still he stubbornly didn’t let go of the professor in front of him. “Yes, I do. Now spill it Snape, let’s get this over with.”
Severus looked into his eyes, apparently searching for something. Something which could help him in taking his next step. Uncertain he edged a little forward. When Remus didn’t back off, he closed the gab between them and kissed him hard onto his lips.
The werewolf returned the kiss eagerly and with a fire he didn’t know he even possessed. The kiss became more and more passionate as both men finally acted to the feelings they had been keeping locked up inside for far too long. “Sev.” Remus moaned in his mouth. Severus started to roam his hands freely around his lovers back, deepening the kiss even more when one of his hands rested on the other man’s head, while the other now rested on the wall as he soon was the one who pas pinning Lupin against the wall.
When Remus opened his eyes a little, he was shocked to find six Hufflepuff first years staring at them open-mouthed.
“Sev?” He said, pulling away quickly.
“What?”
“Look!” Remus said, pointing behind the Potion’s Masters shoulder.
As soon as he found out what or rather who was troubling Remus a scowl instantly appeared on his face. “What are you looking at?” he snapped, making the kids shiver in fear. “If you even think about saying a single word to any of your little friends about this, you will be sorrow for the rest of your remaining days at Hogwarts and many years thereafter.” He threatened, glaring at each one of them.
“Sev,” Remus pleaded softly. “I don’t think you will accomplish anything this way.” He turned towards the shaken students. “Guys, I really need to ask you not to tell this to anyone yet. Professor Snape and I aren’t ready yet to tell the world about our relationship. I hope you can understand this and respect my request for silence and to keep this only to yourselves. Could you do that please?”
A few nodded, while the others stood still paralysed in shock. Not really grasping what they had just witnessed yet.
“Now run along before I change my mind.” Snape snarled.
“You just had to say that, didn’t you?” Remus remarked, as the Hufflepuffs practically ran out of view.
Snape grinned: “You know me too well.”
“Well I actually I don’t. Remember that we…” Lupin started, but Severus quickly cut him off by kissing him again. “Not now Remus, not now.”

It’s kind of funny to think about the many different options and scenes I have written for this rl/ss part and that in the end I just combined most of them together and this is the result. I have never written some many different outcomes for a scene before, but I just didn’t know how to get them together. I know this scene isn’t great either, but these first kiss scenes sadly aren’t my cup of tea. I hope you aren’t too disappointed.. well I tried my best.
PLEASE REVIEW – Like almost every other author i like to know what you like and dislike in my story
