When dinner was over the remaining of The Fellowship followed Albus to his office, where Minerva and a very flustered looking Severus and Remus were waiting to say their goodbyes.
“It was an honour to work with you all.” Severus said smiling and extending his hand.
“I do hope we will meet again.” Remus added, who was standing very close to the Potion’s master. “But this time maybe on a more joyous occasion.”
“ Oh I think we might meet again sooner then expected.” Aragorn replied casually.
Albus looked at him curiously for a few seconds, his eyes twinkling when he realised what he was aiming at.
“Have a safe journey home and live long and prosper.” McGonagall said beaming.
Remus wheeled around to face her a surprised expression on his face: “Have we been watching a little bit too much Star Trek?” he laughed.
Minerva went scarlet. “I just always wanted to say that and this seemed a good occasion as any.”
“It’s time gentlemen.” Albus suddenly said. And indeed, more seconds later the portal appeared. “Now take a sip from this vial and you will be safe to go.”
Aragorn who was last to take the potion only pretended to drink it before passing it back to Dumbledore.
“Thank you again for assisting us in this matter and whenever you need our help don’t be afraid to ask.”
With these final words the seven friends each took the hand of the person standing next to them and went trough the portal one by one. Aragorn who was closed the line and holding Merry’s hand, quickly let go as soon as Merry stepped inside. He pushed himself backwards, falling hard onto the cold stone floor as he did so.
Merry didn’t seem to have noticed a thing, as by enter the ball of light he couldn’t see nor sense anything any longer. Well nothing would be an exaggeration, let’s say ones senses would work on les than 25 percent, making it almost impossible to feel and hear. Unless like Aragorn and Legolas did before, you acknowledge the fact that there actually is someone walking next to you and make bodily contact. And then I mean real body contact, not simply holding hands, but rather holding each other entirely.
The people in the Headmaster’s office of course DID notice.
Minerva run up to him worried: “What happened? Couldn’t you enter? Did you bounce of the surface?”
“No and no, it was my own doing. I do not have the intention the return homewards unless I know what really happened to Legolas.” Aragorn spoke in a firm voice.
Minerva looked helplessly at Dumbledore, not knowing to do or to say for that matter.
“Well let’s make up new search plan then, now shall we.” Albus said, taking a seat behind his desk.

Everyone stared angrily at Merry.
“You did not notice!!!!” Gimli yelled. “How is he going to come back home now?”
“Gimli calm down, I believe it was Aragorn’s own decision not to return.” Galadriel spoke mysteriously.
“What do you mean, lady Galadriel?” Frodo asked.
“I mean that he stayed behind on purpose, not wanting to leave Prince Legolas behind.”
“So it is true then? He and the Elf are in love?” Gimli wondered out loud, finding his own conclusion absurd, but he could not make anything else of the situation now.
“Yes I believe it to be true.”
“I-I just thought that he loved him like his own brother. This is madness: they are both males! What will King Thranduil say? And how will Aragorn create an heir?”
“These are trivial things when it comes to love my dear Dwarven friend. But I must admit that the road ahead of them will not but easy to walk on. They will go through a very difficult time once they are out and in the open about their relationship. I know this might be difficult to understand, but love in all its forms and shapes should be treasured. One does not often see an Elf and Human fall in love with each other, especially not when they are both males and the Elf is not even 3000 years old. I hope you will all stay true friends no matter what happens.” Galadriel pressed them on their hearts.
They all nodded their heads, still astonished about the things they were just told.
“I agree with Lady Galadriel. I think you have all seen Aragorn’s love for Legolas, which is pure and comes straight from the heart. I know it is uncommon for two Men to fall in love, but it happens. Like a Hobbit for instance can fall in love with a Dwarf.”
Merry snickered, looking at an open-mouthed Gimli.
“I was speaking hypothetical of course.” Gandalf added smiling.
“I sure hope so.” Gimli grunted, this made the Hobbits laugh even harder.
“So this means you do not love me after all, my dear Gimli?” Merry said, in a faked shocked voice.
Gimli just turned his back to them, muttering in Dwarvish to himself.
“My point is,” Gandalf continued. “That you can find love everywhere and between everyone. This does..”
“Yes, yes we get it already.” Gimli interrupted him. “What kind of friends do you think we are? Have you no faith in us?”
“Of course I have. I was merely making sure you would not turn your backs towards them over something so natural as love.”
“Trust me Gandalf, sir, we are not THAT shallow.” Sam told him.
“I am glad to hear that. Now lady Galadriel let us think of a plan to get at least Aragorn safely back home.”

In the meanwhile Legolas accompanied by three unicorns was making his way back towards Hogwarts. He still hadn’t totally recovered and was not able to travel for long periods of time. He even sat on the back of one of the unicorns most of the time, not being able to walk on his own for more than thirty minutes.
~ I think we should rest now. ~ A unicorn called Uriël suggested.
Legolas immediately went in protest:
~ But we still have to travel for over a week! At this range we’ll never get there.~
~ I understand your desire to get back, but we do have your health to think about.~
~ I am fine. ~ Legolas insisted, swaying on his legs. ~ Alright, I might not be able to keep my balance now and then, but I am still capable of riding on one of your backs. It is not like you are galloping anyway.~
~ If you insist, we will continue our journey for three more hours, but then we will call it a night. ~ the unicorn spoke in a firm voice.
~ But….~
~ No but’s or we will not continue our journey today.~
Legolas saw no other options but to agree, although reluctantly.

Later that evening Aragorn left Dumbledore’s office in a much cheerier state then he had been in for weeks.
They were going to find Legolas, he knew it.
“Professor Strider, I mean King Aragorn, what are you still doing here?”
Aragorn looked up, surprised to hear a girl’s voice talking to him.
“Oh hello Hermione… Ron, Harry. Well there was a change of plans and I decided to stay until we have found Legolas.”
“Ooooh that’s so sweet.” Hermione smiled.
“Uh…” Aragorn said, being at a loss for words.
“Hermione! Sometimes you’re such a girl.” Ron exclaimed, rolling his eyes.
“Well correct me if I’m wrong, but last time I checked I WAS a girl.”
“I know, but you…” Ron started to argue back, but Harry quickly interrupted.
“Can we do anything to help sir?”
“I am not sure. The spell Albus wanted to use is very dangerous and difficult to cast. Well at least that is what he has told me.”
“But we have already searched the forest a million times, what use is to go looking again?” Ron questioned.
Aragorn rounded on him, anger and hurt showing in his eyes. “I KNOW we have looked for him already, but I do not remember finding him. Do you?” he whispered angrily.
“Huh huh… n-no sir, uh your majesty.” Ron stammered.
“I will not STOP looking for him!” Aragorn yelled.
“Now if you will excuse me, I have some things to take care off. I you still want to help go talk to your Headmaster.” With that said, he briskly strode away.
“Merlin Ron, can you be any more tactless?” Hermione asked him.
“I’m sorry alright! Geez, I just think that Professor Strider wants to face the truth and that is that Legolas is dead.”
“Well you have to remember that Legolas is an Elf, Ron and has much stronger healing abilities than any of us.” Hermione explained.
“I know, I know but still it would be a bloody miracle if he would turn up alive.”
“Lots of miracles happen around here, Ron. Don’t you think that defeating You-Know-Who with such a simple strategy and so many untrained wizards is a miracle?”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“And what about all those times Harry managed to beat the Dark Lord? Or the three of us managed to get home alive. Do I need to go on?”
“Yes, yes you have made your point Hermione. But you do remember that in the last couple of years people died in our struggle against him. It started with Cedric then S…”
“Yes Ron, you do not need to remind me, but still you can’t deny that most of us survived.”
“I know, well let’s hope then that a miracle happened again and he still out there, alive.”

Aragorn knocked on the door impatiently.
Why would he not open the door? He thought frustrated.
When his hand rose to knock again, it opened to reveal a very irritated looking and a little flustered looking Severus Snape. “Yes?”
“I was wondering if I could have a word with you for a moment.”
“Actually now is not such a good time, why don’t you come back in an hour or so?”
Aragorn hung his shoulders in defeat.
“Oh alright.” Severus sighed. “Come in, but give me a moment to take care of some things.”
He let Strider in, before quickly disappearing through his bedroom door.
“Who was it?” a voice questioned.
“Shhhh, it’s Aragorn and he is waiting in the living room.”
“Damn, what do we do now?”
“The only thing we can do: You just have to stay put.”
“Ah, come on Sev, what if I suddenly have to go to the bathroom?”
“Then you just have to hold it, besides I’m going to make sure he leaves very, very quickly.” Severus said, kissing his lover one more time, before walking out of the bedroom.
“Thank you for making some time for me.” Aragorn said gratefully.
“Yeah well, just get on with it, will you. I still have some business to attend to, which needs to be done as soon as possible.”
“Anything I can help you with?”
“I doubt it.” Severus said, trying to hide the amused grin which was slowly spreading across his face.
“I will keep it short then.” Aragorn said quickly. “You know Albus and I have been making a new search plan?”
“Yes, go on.”
“Well we want, of course, to go looking through the forest again only this time with a spell, which creates a beam that directs itself to the nearest humanoid. The so called soul-tracer. The beam will reach for around 1 mile, depending on the power of the wizard who casts it.
“Aha.”
“Do you know this spell already?”
“As a matter of fact, I do. Voldemort wanted all his Death Eaters to be trained as good as possible and a spell like this is a very useful tool to track people down, who are hidden somewhere close.”
“Excellent! There is a meeting tomorrow evening where we are going to discuss our strategy in this matter. I hope you will be able to join us?”
“But of course.” Severus replied, smiling a little.
“Thank you.” Aragorn said, as he started to walk towards the door. “Oh Severus,” he said briefly stopping in the doorway. “I believe you are wearing your shirt inside out.”
The Potionsmaster quickly looked at his torso. Aragorn was indeed right.
“Well… it was dirty and I didn’t have any clean ones left. So I just thought: why not wear it inside out? Besides I am not going out tonight anyway.” Severus told him with a straight face, his voice as calm as ever.
Although he appeared to be composed, still his heart was racing, while his mind prayed the man in front of him would buy his excuse.
Estel smiled: “You know that is exactly what I used to do in my Ranger days. Until tomorrow then.”
When Aragorn had closed the door behind him, Severus let out a sigh of relief. While grinning he walked towards his bedroom door……
“What was that all about?” Remus asked, pulling Severus onto the bed and hugging him closely, taking in his scent as he did so.
“Apparently Albus now wants us to use a soul-tracer to locate Legolas.” He replied, returning the hug and lying down next to his lover, who cuddled close.
“A soul-tracer spell? Really? I thought it was very hard to perform such a spell. And isn’t there any danger involved? If I remember correctly you can actually separate someone’s soul from its body when the spell is too strong or cast slightly wrong.”
“Yes, I know.” The Ex- Death eater replied, giving a light shiver.
“Is it THAT bad, Sev?”Remus asked concerned.
“Yes, it is not a pretty sight, trust me. I think the spell is even banned illegal nowadays. Not that Albus ever pays attention to the law. He always seems to find a way to bind the rules to his liking.”
“Indeed he-he does.” Remus said yawning.
“Tired, mus?”
“Yes I am still recovering my strength from the last full moon. I think the fact that I already transformed this month is making the pain worse. Or it’s only just in my mind of course.”
“I wish there was anything I could do.”
“You’re doing enough, just by being here with me.”
Severus smiled lovingly, kissing him on the fore head: “Well get some rest then, love.”
“Here?” Lupin asked surprised.
“No at Albus’ quarters!” Severus replied, rolling his eyes.
Remus snickered: “I’d love to stay here, Sev.” Remus whispered, kissing him softly.
Snape smiled, pulling him close again. He closed his eyes with a content sigh. At last he had found some happiness in his life and no one was ever going to take that away from him again.
