“I assure you, my visions do become reality, my boy. And now the only thing I can see is dead and destruction. Probably the destruction of you. I think it would be best to prepare for the worst.” Trelawney told him in a choked voice.
Aragorn, who had been positively cheery all day, was now in a gloomy mood. He had been listening to Sybills predictions for a whole hour now and frankly she was getting onto his nerves. But of course being the King he was, he tried to be as polite as possible and only said: “I will, Mrs Trelawney.”
Professor Flitwick in the meanwhile still cast the spell every other 5 minutes, making sure it started in a beam 50ft away from them, so he wouldn’t hit any of his team members. He suddenly attracted everyone’s attention by making a weird squeaking sound.
“Wha’s tha matta prof Flitwick?” Hagrid asked expectantly.
“I think,” the tiny professor started, quickly casting the spell again. “No I am sure that I have found a soul.” As he said this a small red beam became visible, going in a straight line, hopefully showing them the way to Legolas.
They all looked hopefully at each other, before quickly starting to follow the tin red line.
Hagrid even scooped Flitwick into his arms so they could go faster.
They expected to meet Legolas half way as he surely would want to see them as well.
When they had been running for 15 minutes, they still hadn’t encountered anyone. It even looked like the beam was fading a little. While it first had been a bright red beam indicating that the soul was not far away, it now started to turn orange and less visible than before.
Aragorn questioned the others about this.
“I don’t understand it either, it looks like the soul is almost out of the spell’s range, which doesn’t make sense. Or maybe Legolas thinks the enemy is after him…” Flitwick mused.
“What if we just call reinforcements?” Aragorn suggested.
“Right we could do that.” Hagrid smiled.
Quickly Flitwick cast first red and then blue sparks, indicating that they had found Legolas, but were having problems.

“You see that Albus? Looks like someone is in trouble.” Remus remarked, pointing at the blue and red dots in the air. “Which team do you think it is?”
“I believe team three, as they are the closest to us. Come on let’s hurry.”
They quickly started to run towards the sparks, which Flitwick had cast so that they would follow his team, so he didn’t have to cast the same spell over and over again.
Albus, being of age as he is, still managed to keep up with the other two fairly well.
Remus was glad he had werewolf blood running through his veins, as it increased his speed and stamina. Unfortunately it couldn’t stop him from getting hurt… too late he spotted the few rocks on the ground as his eyes were solemnly fixed on the sparks above.
Before he knew it he was laying sprawled onto the ground, face pressed into the dirt and with a broken ankle. He growled in frustration and pain. Just his luck!
Harry and Albus stopped in their tracks quickly and sprinted towards him.
“Are you okay, Remus?” Harry breathed.
“I’ll live, but I may have broken my ankle.”
“Oh, well I’m sorry to inform you Remus that one of the things I’m not good at is mending injuries.” Albus informed him sadly. “You have no idea how many rows Poppy and I had about that one, but every time she tries to learn me more than the basics something comes up, which stops her from doing so. Although I must confess that I do not enjoy seeing blood. Anyway I will do the best that I can.”
Quickly he transfigured a couple of rocks (the same that had injured him) into a wooden stick and some bandages. Soon he had splinted Remus’ ankle. And with the help of both Harry and Albus, Remus was able to walk again, although slowly.
Fortunately for the trio the other team was running into their direction as was of course the person whose soul they were tracing.
Albus suddenly laid his fingers onto his lips indicating for them to be silent.
Soon Remus picked up the scent of another human being and it sure wasn’t anyone familiar.
He saw Albus concentrating very hard before finally casting a spell towards their right. A shriek could be heard, followed by a heavy thud. Whoever he or she was, the person was now unconscious.
They slowly walked towards it. Albus quickly turned the person over. He sighed in disappointment: it was a Death Eater, clearly recognizable by his Dark Mark, black robes and mask.
“Damn!” Remus cursed annoyed. “Do you recognize him?”
“As a matter of fact, I don’t. But he does look an awful lot like Rookwood, so he could be a relative to him of some sort.”
In a matter of minutes team three had reached them. They were of course all slightly out of breath. When Albus told them about the Death Eater they were all silent in disappointment.
Aragorn let out a frustrated sigh. He was beginning to believe that faith wasn’t with him after all.
Before they could make up their minds about what to do next the second team came storming into sight. Ron at front followed by Draco and a dishevelled looking Severus.
“D-Did … you.. find him?” Severus asked bending over to catch his breath.
“No, it turned out to be a Death Eater. Maybe you recognize him?” Remus asked him.
Severus looked into the other man’s eyes, before turning his attention towards the Death Eater. Suddenly he realised that his lover was leaning heavily against a tree. With a few steps he closed the gab between them. “What happened? Are you okay?” He asked concerned.
“I’m fine Sev.” Remus replied smiling. “Just a broken ankle, nothing to worry about.”
“Let me take a look at it.” He snapped.
“No, it’s fine, really. Albus has already splinted it.”
“Splinted it?!” Before Remus could react, Severus was already on his knees and pulled up his trousers. All the while grumbling to himself, probably cursing Albus for his lack of medical skills.
“Now just hold still, this might hurt a bit.” Severus quickly muttered a spell, putting both of his hands around the hurt ankle as the bones snapped back into place.
Remus let out a soft howl in pain.
“Sorry Mus,” Severus whispered, while bandaging his ankle. “Poppy will take care of the rest.”
“Thank you.” Lupin said, smiling at him lovingly. “Now do you recognize him?”
Severus turned around. “Yes I do, it’s Pierce Anbros, Rookwood’s nephew. He probably chickened out once he realised they were going to be defeated. He never was very reliable, always did everything for his own benefits. It would even surprise me if he did give a damn about Voldemort’s propaganda. He was more interested in the Dark artefacts and as a Death Eater his access to them was a whole lot easier and cheaper. Either way I don’t know whether you’ll get much useful information out of him.” Just as Severus was done talking the first team entered the scenery.
“What’s …g-going on?” McGonagall asked, clearly out of breath.
Albus quickly retold the most important information. In the meanwhile Severus approached Poppy, telling her about Remus’ injury, who in return glared at him. His pain was not THAT severe and both Albus and Severus had tended well to his ankle.
“What are we going to do now?” Aragorn asked suddenly.
“I think it would be best to call it a day and we continue our search tomorrow night.” Albus told him.
Aragorn’s shoulders slumped a bit at hearing this news, but he did understand the older man’s decision.

“Do you think we have almost reached our destination?” Legolas asked Uriël.
The sun had just come up, while they had already been walking for an hour.
Uriël tried to ignore the Elf, but when Legolas started to ask him the same question over and over again he finally gave in. Sighing deeply he replied: “As we have been travelling a lot faster than I predicted it will only take us two more days to reach the outer bounds of the forest.”
Legolas squealed in delight and began to sprint.
“You know you should take it easy.” The unicorn informed him. “If you further damage your injuries it will only slow you down in the end.”
“I know, but I just have to release some energy before I burst from joy.”
“Remember that there is still a chance that they have already left and that there is no way for you to follow them home.”
That dampened Legolas’ spirits a bit, but not enough to slow him down or to give up. He would be back in his lover’s arms in less than two days! A smile crept onto his face. Just two more days……

“Severus please stop fussing all over me!” Remus exclaimed, pushing the other man away, who offered him a hand to stand up. “I can take care of myself, thank you very much as I am not a child.” He added with a ‘hump’, crossing his arms in front of him.
Snape looked at him with a hurt look on his face, which quickly turned into his usual impassive mask, hiding all his true emotions. Without a word he turned around and stalked out of the infirmary, his robes billowing behind him.
Remus immediately jumped out of bed. He of course regretted it immediately as a jolt of pain shot through his ankle. Poppy had given him a potion, which allowed the nerves and muscles to heal. The only nasty site-effect was, was that he could not use another potion to sedate the pain. So he just repressed the pain and was out of the hospital wing before Poppy could stop him and started to follow Severus.
“Severus!!”
The potions master hesitated in his steps, but still briskly continued on his way.
“Sev… ouch.. please listen to me.” Remus decided that his best tactic was to play it on his injury. To his delight Severus immediately turned around to see if he was alright.
“I’m sorry, I know you mean it well, but I am just not used to getting so much attention from someone. I think I have been living on my own for far too long.” He explained, before walking up to him and embracing him lovingly. Severus stiffened in his arms and still acted cool and aloof. But before Remus could question him about this Poppy already came storming towards them.
“What in the bloody hell were you thinking, sprinting out of the Hospital wing like that! Do you think it would do your ankle any good to be running around like a freaking maniac in your PJs! You know that’s exactly the reason why I demanded that you stay with me over the night.” She yelled at him. “And you!” she started, rounding on Severus, pointing her finger towards him accusingly. “Don’t upset him like that! He doesn’t know what’s good for him! I do! Ill and injured people can be so irresponsible and if that’s not bad enough their loved ones only come and make it worse. Now YOU come with me and YOU stay away from him. He’ll be home tomorrow.” She dragged him away from Severus having a dead grip on his arm, which she only loosened when they had almost reached the hospital wing.

The next evening they again met at eleven o’clock behind Hagrid’s cabin. The trio used Harry’s invisibility cloak, picking up Draco along the way. Hermione had enlarged the cloak a bit so they could all easily fit beneath it, much to the disappointment of Harry and Draco.
Soon everyone was once again present and were waiting for their orders.
“Good evening all, I think you know the drill by now: if in trouble shoot red sparks, when you manage to take care of by yourselves shoot green and if you have found Legolas, then by all means show a scale of blue sparks.
Well of you go and have a safe journey.”

Hermione looked interested at McGonagall as she was casting the spell over and over again. She wasn’t really paying attention to the conversation she and madam Pomfrey were having, until she heard them mention Professor Snape’s name. Hearing teachers talking about their colleagues was always interesting to hear.
“I’m telling you Minerva, there is something going on between those two. Severus was all over him last night when he had to stay at the hospital wing.”
“Are you sure? Severus never struck me as the..” she made a gay-ish gesture with her hand. “type.”
“I know! Although I must confess that I did have my suspicions after that little Shrieking Shack * accident back in their school days.”
“Hmmm, I suppose you are right.” Minerva said thoughtfully. She suddenly stopped dead in her tracks and turned around to face Hermione. The clever student fortunately had already put a pensive expression on her face as she was seemingly staring into the distance, faking being deep in thought and paying no attention what so ever to the conversation that was being held in front of her. Minerva looked at her closely for a moment before turning around, shrugging her shoulders.
As soon as her teacher faced away from her Hermione’s shocked expression reappeared. I wonder who else was in that hospital wing last night. Probably one of the teachers or Filch. She made a face when she even thought about that possibility. Wait a minute ‘the Shrieking Shack accident’! That could be no other than Remus Lupin. And wasn’t professor Lupin injured last night? No way, it just couldn’t be, those two hated each others guts. But didn’t Legolas tell them a few weeks ago, that they seemed awfully close? It had sounded preposterous back then and even now it seemed hard to believe, but how well did they really know Snape? He never told them anything personal or treated them nice for that matter, but we are his students after all. And it’s not like we showed him the respect that he deserves either, now is it?
Hermione was zoned back to her surroundings when she heard two delightful squeals. When she looked up she saw what had made her teachers so excited…. A scale of blue sparks was floating through the night’s sky….
