Disclaimer:
I do not own the Lord of the Rings (and associated) book series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Tying The Knot
Author's notes: I'm again sorry if there are mistakes in the story. (Please see my notes for Chapters 1&2).
Disclaimer: I do not own The Lord of the Rings. I do not own Mirkwood. And I - unfortunately - still do not own Legolas. (I would like to own him or Orlando Bloom though) I do, however, own Aelin, Nadan Enthrin, Arthenuel and the Land of Namâree.
Rating: The story itself is NC-17… but nothing to 'worry' in this chapter (still). Hehe.
Chapter 3 : Tying the knot
And so Aelin told him what happened, starting with the death of Nadan Enthrin and her remarkable safe journey to Mirkwood.
Legolas pondered herds. ds. Why did the wise old man want her to find him of all people? He thought, that this kind information had better been addressed to his father, King Thranduil. But then again, Nadan might have had his reasons.
There was still another question in his mind. He opened his mouth to ask Aelin how it came that she seemed to know him once again, but he was stopped by a gracious gesture of her hand.
"Yes, Legolas Greenleaf, I am going to tell you why".
Now he was confused. Could she read his thoughts? He was not sure. ~Of course she can not!~, his inner voice advised.
Aelin couldn't help but smile. She had a very good knowledge of human nature, grown through all her years as the only healer in the village. And it seemed like some of this knowledge could be applied to elven behaviour quite well. He had looked at her so questioningly, it was obvious what he wanted to know.
"It's because you talk to the wind, Legolas", Aelin said cryptically.
Now it was his turn to stutter. Y.. y… you! how… how can you know?
Aelin's smile broadened. ~Now you got him!~ her inner voice exclaimed.
"Don't worry", she added, ignoring her slightly mischievous thoughts given the expression in his face. "I had a vision, showing a man in a beautiful forest. This man was talking to the wind in a language foreign to me"
Legolas raised his eyebrow. That was what he always did when he was either annoyed, amused or expectant, but did not want to show his true feelings. "So what does that have to do with…."
"I am not finished yet", He was interrupted again. "When I arrived here in Mirkwood someone tapped my shoulder and when I turned around I looked in the eyes of the man I saw in my meditation."
"Oh…!" Legolas whispered. It took a few moments before he realized that a pretty lady apparently has had visions of him. A feeling of male pride grew within his chest. ~We are good looking!~ his inner voice piped up again. No, I'm not going to get vain now. He shook his head and tried to get rid of that annoying voice again.
Somehow this was strange, but it seemed to be right though.
While he tried to handle the facts she had just presented, Aelin was gazing at him, studying his handsome features. Especially his long blonde hair caught her attention. Aelin could hardly resist the urge to touch the small braids behind his ears.
Through the silvery fabric of his tunic she could feel the warmth of his body, and she was still fascinated by the flow of energy between them. Suddenly there was a picture in her mind that showed his long slender hands tracing her neck, followed by his lips. She almost could feel his warm breath on her tender skin.
"Lady Aelin, we have arrived at the dinner hall.."
Shertlertled out of her daydream. Slightly embarrassed and with an obvious slight-red hue on her face she turned to him. Being afraid that her trembling voice might show a hint of what she was thinking a moment before, she just nodded.
Gracefully she lifted her robe a little bit and stepped down the stairs to the dinner hall.
Legolas watched her from behind. He'd love to unbind her braid. How would her hair look… open, framing her face on a pillow with it's auburn glow…
So it happened that Legolas also blushed as well as he walked through the dinner hall to his place on the table. ~Yes, you most definitely want her!~ The small voice was back again.
Somehow his father, who was already waiting for them, seemed to be amused by their appearance. "You two were in a hurry? You both seem to be quite out of breath! Well, anyway… my son, why don't you introduce the young lady to me".
So Aelin was introduced to King Thranduil, Legolas' father. He also asked her to tell her story. After she had ended, he nodded with a knowing look in his eyes.
"Would you two, Lady Aelin and Legolas, my son, accompany me for a short walk in the garden after we are finished with dinner"?, Thranduil asked.
Legolas and Aelin looked at each other with surprise. Their looks - the ones they shared now as well as the previous gazes at each other during the dinner - did not remain unnoticed by Thranduil.
He smiled contentedly. The prophecy will be fulfilled. The knot has been tied.
