Chapter 2
"All right, now go play. I have already sent a letter to lord Celeborn. Aragorn will take you as soon as I get word back from Celeborn."
"OK."
Elrond watched Arthon run off to play. He was concerned him and only wanted to protect him.
Arthon ran to a place down by the river. He liked the sound of running water. He sat there along time just thinking. So adar was going to send him away. He started to cry when he thought about having to leave this place. Why was adar doing this to him? He hadn’t done anything wrong. Arthon heard some one coming up behind him and he turned to see Aragorn walking up to him.
Sitting down next to him, "Arthon what is wrong?"
"Adar is sending me to Lothlorien to live."
"I know he told me."
Arthon started to cry again, "Why does he hates me?"
"Adar does not hate you. He loves you very much and he only wants what is best for you."
"I know but I want to stay here."
"I know but don’t worry about it. It will only be for a little while. Haldir is a good man and you will learn a lot from him."
He watched Aragorn get up and walk away from him. Arthon turned back toward the river and picked up some rocks. He pitched one across the river. Why were they doing this to him? This was his home and he didn’t want to leave. It wasn’t fair. Arthon threw the rest of the rocks into the river, then he went up to his room where he spent the rest of the day. He felt like running away, but that wouldn’t do any good he didn’t have anywhere to go. He went and sat in a corner of his room where he could hide.
That evening Elrond went looking for Arthon but he could not find him anywhere. He had even looked in his room, but he hadn’t seen him in there. He was getting frustrated and prayed that Arthon hadn’t ran away.
Aragorn walked up to Elrond. He could see the frustrated look on his face, "What is wrong?"
"I can not find Arthon anywhere. Do you know where he is?"
"He was down by the river. Then I saw him heading toward his room."
"He is not in either place now."
"I will help you look for him."
Aragorn headed off toward Arthon’s room. He had seen him go that way and figured that the boy was just hiding somewhere. He knocked on the door but there was no response. Aragorn opened the door and walked into the room. He looked slowly around the room, but there wasn’t anything out of place that would suggest that Arthon had taken off. Out of the corner of his eye Aragorn saw a pair of feet sticking out beside a dresser. He walked over there and found Arthon sound asleep. Kneeling down and shaking him, "Arthon wake up."
Opening his eyes and blinking. It was dim in the room because only three candles were lit, "huh, what?"
"Adar is looking for you."
"What does he want?"
"I don’t know. He didn’t tell me."
Arthon got up and stretched. He was stiff from being in the same position for too long. They went to go find Lord Elrond. They found him down in the courtyard and walked down to him.
"Where have you been?"
"I fell asleep."
"I didn’t see you when I went into your room to look for you."
Aragorn sighed, he didn’t want to see them fight, "He was hiding behind the dresser."
"Are you mad at me?"
Arthon sat down on the bench, "Mad at you no, but I am upset."
"Why?"
"Because I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here."
Elrond sighed, he didn’t know what else to do. He truly didn’t want to send Arthon to Lothlorien but he didn’t like seeing him picked on by his older brother. He was also worried that Anteru would go to far and really hurt Arthon. Aragorn left so that they could talk alone.
"I am only trying to do what is best for you. I am concerned that Anteru may go to far and really hurt you. I don’t like seeing you picked on."
"I know. I guess that I am just scared to go to a new place where I don’t know anyone."
"I Know, but don’t worry you will be fine."
"You will keep in touch?"
Elrond sat down next to him, "I will. I will even come visit you to see how you are doing?"
"Promise?"
"Yes I promise. Come get something to eat since you missed dinner."
"OK."
They walked off toward the dining hall.
Two Days Later
The messenger that Elrond had sent to Lorien had returned with a letter from Haldir. Elrond took the letter, opened it and read it.
Elrond,
I would be happy to have Arthon stay here. I will teach him all he needs to know and how to protect himself.
Haldir
Elrond folded up the letter and went to go find Arthon. He found him in his room reading a book. Arthon had been staying in his room the past few days so that wouldn’t have to deal with his brother. Elrond knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Walking into the room, "I just received word from Haldir. He would be happy to have you stay with him."
"OK."
"You and Aragorn will leave tomorrow morning."
"OK."
