3. Together Again
Orenin
woke, smiled, stretched and rolled over to find Legolas but he wasn’t in the
bed with her. “Legolas!” She knew he was close but he felt far
away. There was no reason to panic but
she couldn’t help it, couldn’t keep it out of her voice.
He
ran in to her from the deck. “I am here,
Orenin,” gathering her in his arms.
Her
arms went around him to hold him tightly while her breathing slowed as her
panic faded. “I’m sorry; I didn’t like
waking and not finding you there.”
“I
did not mean to frighten you, Love. I am
sorry. I was just out on the
balcony.” He smiled against her hair. “I was giving thanks for your return.”
She
looked at him. If she thought she would
be heard or dared to draw attention to herself, she could give thanks for her
return to him as well.
Legolas
wanted her not to be afraid, to always find peace with him. Keeping her tight to him, he lay back on the
bed, bringing her down with him. He
kissed her then and rolled on top of her.
“Look at me, Orenin, open your eyes.
I want to see you.” Then they heard knocking at the outer door to his
chambers. Legolas sighed heavily and got
up from the bed, picked up the thin blanket from the floor and threw it to
Orenin to cover her. The knocking came
again, louder, and Legolas shouted “One moment!” He picked up a sheet from the floor, wrapped
it around himself and walked through the outer room. He opened the door and his eyes widened in
surprise. “Lord Elrond!”
“Is
the Countess here, Prince Legolas?
“Yes,
Lord Elrond.”
Elrond
went past Legolas into the room and turned to him. “Has she been here all night?”
Legolas
smiled. “Yes, Lord Elrond.”
They
walked into the inner room. The Countess
was sitting up in the bed, the blanket wrapped around her. “Good morning, Lord Elrond” she said
cautiously.
“Good
morning, Countess,” said Elrond. “I came
here to ask if you can explain this,” showing her a sheaf of papers he was
carrying.
She
looked at them but didn’t take the papers. “You’ve been busy,” she smiled.
Legolas
reached over and took them from Elrond and looked through them. “They’re blank” he said, a puzzled look on
his face.
Elrond
gave Legolas a dark look. “Yes, Prince
Legolas, they are blank,” he said sternly.
He frowned at the Countess. “They
were not blank an hour ago.”
She
smiled up at him. “Well, don’t look at
me. I didn’t do it.”
“Then
who is responsible?” he demanded.
She
thought for a moment. “The
Time Lords? The
Q? Someone
else? I don’t know. It drives Picard to
distraction that his ship’s records are never accurate after I’ve been on his
ship. I know a doctor who thinks his
stories about us are safe in his bank’s vault.”
She shrugged. “Memory is never
changed but history…well, the Doctor says history will
have its hiccups.” She looked at the
papers Legolas held. “I’m sorry you went
to all that work for nothing.”
Elrond
considered her for a moment then looked over at Legolas. “I am sorry to have disturbed you. I will see you at the council meeting.” He walked out after a last look at the
Countess.
After
they heard the outer door shut behind him, she looked up at Legolas, a question
in her eyes.
He
smiled. “Not for hours yet, Orenin.”
She
returned his smile. “Good.” She took the papers he held and dropped them
to the floor and reached over to pull the sheet from his body. She couldn’t get enough of looking at
him. “Before we were interrupted by Lord
Elrond, I wanted to touch you Love. Come
here.”
He
leaned in to kiss her and pushed her back down to the bed, putting his weight
on her, kissing her with force, losing himself in her.
Her
hands were light as feathers on him at first, exploring him, caressing his hair
and ears, then down to his shoulders, arms, back to the base of his spine,
drawing patterns in his skin with her fingertips. She closed her eyes, trying to memorize the
sensation of him on her. When her hand
closed around him, Legolas’s sharp intake of breath made her laugh and drove
her on. She loved his noises and the
heat in her increased. She thrust her
pelvis up against him, impatient for him, gasping at the feeling him on her.
Legolas
moved on her slowly at first. He lifted
himself from her to move his hand between them and when he reached what he
sought, he moved his fingers over her in slow circular motions. She had closed her eyes and so he was
delighted and felt rewarded as her eyes flew open at his touch. “Oh Love,” she said, over and over
again. He pushed her leg over to open
her to him and entered her completely in one stroke, the way he knew she like
it.
She
kissed him with all her need. She arched
up and brought her legs up around his waist pulling at him, urgently thrusting,
trying to move him faster.
He
tried again to slow her down. “Wait,
Love. Slowly.” Kissing her ear, he whispered “pleasure
delayed is pleasure heightened.”
She
smiled back at him and said “Oh, Love, life is too short.” She felt herself tensing in readiness. “I need…oh please…I need you.” Harder and harder she drove up against
him. She reached her peak, shouting his
name, causing his release by her contractions on him and he collapsed over her
and they kissed in their release.
“Love,
I’m sorry. Next time,” she smiled. “Next time, we’ll go slow. We will take all the time you wish.”
He
raised himself up and looked down at her and smiled, raising his eyebrows. “That is what you said last time, Orenin.”
Hours
later, Legolas was dressed and seated in a chaise. The sun’s light had moved from the porch off
his rooms and he had wrapped a sheet around Orenin and carried her out to the
deck. He held her in his lap, stroking
her face and kissing her, just enjoying the breeze and being with his sleeping
love. It was almost time to go to Lord
Elrond’s meeting but Legolas was in no hurry to leave her.
He
would never lose her again, he thought; he would never let her be taken from
him again. Just let the Doctor come back
and try to take her away. Please. Let him try.
Legolas would fill him with arrows, enough for all of his lives. His jaw set and his arms tightened around
Orenin. And if he didn’t have enough
arrows, he had his knives. He would
never allow her to be taken from him again.
She
squirmed in his arms. “Legolas.” She raised her head to look at him. “Love, you are squeezing me.”
“I
am sorry, Orenin.”
Just
then, they heard knocking at the outer door; they listened to the outer door
open and they heard the approaching footsteps.
And then something else; something spoke, dark and dangerous.
Legolas
heard: Kill him. Kill him, take your lady and run. Go north, away from the coming wars, away
from danger. If she does Their bidding, who can tell where They will send her next.
Orenin
heard: Kill him. Kill him, take your elf and run. Run away.
The elf is not immortal. He can
be killed. There is danger ahead for
him. Danger and death
if he stays.
They
looked at each other, their shocked looks mirroring each other.
“Legolas,”
she whispered. “Did you hear that?”
“Yes.”
Legolas said softly. “Even here. The evil is getting stronger.” They turned to see Aragorn walk out onto the
deck.
“Not
ready yet, Legolas? Gandalf sent me to
find you. The Council is gathering.”
“Yes,
I’m ready.” Looking down, he kissed his
lady on her forehead. She got up out of
his arms and he stood. “Wait here for
me, Love. I hope this will not take too
long.”
They
turned to leave and were almost to the door when Aragorn turned aside and
picked up something from the floor.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Legolas turned to Aragorn who was
holding up his cloak, admiring it. “Fit
for a prince of Mirkwood” smiled Aragorn.
Legolas rolled his eyes but took it, shook it out and put it on.
They
heard a single clear chime from a bell.
He turned back to her. “We must
go, Love. I’ll be back soon.”
She
smiled at him and watched them leave, then walked back into the room to wait
for Legolas to return.
