Chapter 3
The next morning Arthon woke up early. He had already packed his things. He dressed, grabbed his bag, and walked outside. He couldn’t believe that he was really leaving this place. It felt like a dream to him. His adar and Aragorn were talking down in the courtyard. Slowly he walked down there. Without looking at his father, he attached his bag to the saddle on his horse.
Elrond walked over to Arthon, "Don’t worry you will be fine. I love you and I will see you soon."
Turning toward his father, "I love you too." Getting onto his horse, "Goodbye father."
"Goodbye."
Elrond watched Aragorn get onto his horse and then watched them ride out of the city. Aragorn could tell that his brother was still upset about having to leave, "Are you mad at adar?"
"No just a little upset. I know that things will be ok, and when I reach full maturity I can and will return home."
"It is good that you are not mad at adar. He loves you and cares about you deeply."
Aragorn’s words played over and over in his head. Did adar love him the way that Arthon wanted him to, probably not and there would be no real way to find out until he saw him again. Was that the reason why Elrond felt the strong need to protect him from his brother by sending him away or was he trying to protect him from himself. Though there had never been any sign that adar had been even slightly interested in him in that way. Arthon sighed, it hurt his brain just thinking about it.
Aragorn looked over at his brother, "Is something wrong?"
"No I was just thinking about things."
Aragorn nodded and said nothing more. It took them two full days to reach Lothlorien. Haldir greeted them as they reached the edge of the forest, "How was the journey?"
"Long." Replied Aragorn.
Arthon didn’t know what to say so he didn’t say anything at all. Aragorn got down off his horse and Arthon followed suit.
Haldir walked up to Arthon, "You must be Arthon?"
"Yes."
"I am nice to Haldir, nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
They followed Haldir through the forst leading their horses behind them. They came up to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing on top of a small hill was a medium sized bunch of trees. Arthon guessed that the trees hid Lorien.
They walked down through the clearing and through the smaller group of trees. Arthon was shocked by what he saw the city was beautiful. Everything was built up in the trees, probably to protect them from enemies. The city had a golden glow about it that made it feel otherworldly.
Haldir turned toward Arthon, "Are you going to be ok living in trees?"
"Yeah I think. It will be a little weird at first but I should be ok."
"Good, I will take you up to where you will be staying."
They walked over to stairs going up the side of a very large tree and they began to climb them. When they got about 20ft above the ground they stopped. To the left was a large structure that was supported by large branches and supports connected to the trunk of the tree. Haldir opened the door and Arthon followed him inside, with Aragorn right behind him. The room was good sized with a smaller room coming off of it. There was a bed against the far wall with a large window above. There were windows all over the walls in the room giving the room a very aired out feel to it. The room had lit candles everywhere giving the room a nice warm glow. The smaller room had a small table and some chairs in it.
"The bathing are is down on the ground level. It is a lot easier then having to bring water up here."
"OK." Arthon set his bag down on the bed. He would be ok here.
Aragorn walked up to him, "I will stay here for a few days to make sure that you get settled in."
"My private quarters is just up the stairs if you need anything."
"OK." Arthon watched them leave. Then he turned to his bag and began unpacking it.
Haldir and Aragorn walked up to Haldir’s private chambers. Haldir opened the door letting Aragorn in before he went inside. He could see the worried look on Aragorn’s face, "Don’t worry he will be fine."
Turning toward him, "I know but he was so upset about having to come here. He didn’t want to leave Rivendell."
"He will like it here. I will teach him everything that he needs to know."
"I know you will."
They sat down and talked for a while. Eventually Arthon came up to join them. He noticed that Haldir’s room was much like his, except for Haldir’s bow and arrows that stood next to the door where they would be easy to grab incase of an emergency. They all ate dinner together and Arthon was starting to feel more comfortable being here.
