somethings wrong
Chapter 4:
Legolas was now ten months pregnant and he was BIG!! On more than one occasion he has seen himself in the mirror and was unable to recognize himself. But the strange thing is…he has never been happier.
During his ninth month pregnancy his friend Gimli came to Ilmadris, and the first thing that he said to the pregnant elf was “Ah Laddie, I don’t think I have ever seen an elf happier than you look at this minute… ‘motherhood’ suits you…you are positively glowing…” He then had to stop to comfort the emotional elf as cried tears of happiness.
Legolas finds it strange that due to his warrior background he found the transition to family man so easy to overtake. All of the remaining members of the fellowship were now in Rivendale in order to greet the new child, and welcome it into the world.
Gimli was the first to arrive, followed soon after by the hobbits and Gandalf. Then even Eomer, Eowen and Faramir arrived.
It was during his tenth month that Legolas began to face problems. He was enjoying a companionable picnic in the private gardens of Ilmadris with Gimli and Aragorn, when a wave of pain overtook him. “Ooof.” He murmured as he grabbed a hold of his stomach and hunched over. In mere seconds Aragorn and Gimli were by his side guiding him to the nearest bench.
“Legolas, my friend, are you OK?” Aragorn asked as he rubbed soothing circles into his friends back as he tried to breathe through the pain. Legolas took a deep breath before he answered. “I am well now Aragorn.” He said, both Aragorn and Gimli snorted at this and looked at him in disbelief.
“Do not lie to us you stubborn elf.” Gimli muttered with an affectionate smile on his face. Proof of his teasing. “What happened?”
Legolas looked into his friends eyes and spoke “I do not know. But a sharp pain overtook me, but the time for it has passed now my friends no need to worry.”
Aragorn scoffed “No need to worry. My best friend complains about stomach pains that double him over by the waist, whilst he is pregnant and he tells me not to worry.”
“He is right Legolas. Perhaps we should send for Lord Elrond.” Gimli added. Both Gimli and Aragorn looked towards Legolas, clearly ready for a fight. To say that they were shocked by his next words would be a clear understatement.
“Your right.” He spoke to his shell-shocked companions. They looked at him with disbelief, until Gimli spoke up.
“Are you OK, my friend?”
“No my friend. The pain….it hurts.” As soon as these words were out of his mouth his friends noticed that one hand was wrapped around his belly in an act of protection and the other was gripping the edge of the stone bench that his knuckles were white.
“By the Valar!” Aragorn muttered before he jumped up and began to rub soothing circles into his friends back and spoke to Gimli. “Gimli, hurry back to the house, fetch my brothers and my father. I do not think that it will be safe to move him.”
Before he was even finished talking Gimli was sprinting back to the house shouting back over his shoulder “Not to worry Legolas we dwarves are natural sprinters!!”
All that remained in the garden was a concerned king of Gondor and a terrified prince of Mirkwood.

Dan and Ro, were sitting in their fathers study enjoying a day of bonding. At the moment they were reminiscing about their antics during childhood. They had just recovered from a bout of hysterical laughter when a panting Gimli came running into the room. The three Peredil were startled and jumped out of their seats.
“Legolas….garden….pain….”was all that he managed to pant out before the three elf lords took off towards the garden.
The twins had been extremely over protective of Legolas since the day that they found out about his pregnancy, and because of this they wished to know exactly where he was during all times of the day. At this moment in time Elrond thanked the Valar for their overprotective tendencies as he took off after them through his home, Gimli puffing and panting behind him.
They headed straight to the private gardens of the Lord’s of Ilmadris, and there they found a sight that forced the twins to freeze in their tracks. There in front of them was their youngest brother, cradling the head of their lover on his lap. Rhymically stroking his hair in a soothing gesture as the prince of Mirkwood clenched his eyes shut and bit his lip in a way to stop the pain from overwhelming him and causing him to cry out.
“LEGOLAS!!” Each twin shouted simultaneously as they both darted forward to reach their fallen lover.
As soon as they made their presence known, Legolas’s eyes popped open and he stared at them with pain filled teary eyes. It broke Elladan and Elrohir’s hearts. When they reached him they both dived down onto the ground next to him. Once they were there Legolas let out a sob, whether it was at pain or relief at having them finally here with him they did not know.
Elrond was fast on their heels and quickly went into healer mode. “Legolas. I need you to tell me what hurts. Can you do that Penneth?” all that he got was a shaky nod in response.
“Ada. Whats happening?” Elladan asked, as Elrohir took over from Aragorn and placed their lovers head in his lap.
“I do not know my son. I must check him over first before I make any judgments.” With that Elrond ran one of his hands through Legolas’s hair in a fatherly gesture. “Legolas Penneth, open your eyes.” With great difficulty Legolas was able to open his eyes and focus upon the lord’s face. “Good.” Elrond said as he placed a hand on the ever expanding stomach of his son-in-law.
“Can you tell me how you feel?” Elrond asked gently but with urgency.
“We were just talking and then I felt a sharp pain…I thought that it was just a strong kick so I thought nothing of it…then the pain returned and it won’t go away.” Legolas looked into Elrond’s eyes and everyone watching was able to see the desperation in his eyes. They all watched in apprehension wishing desperately that Legolas would not utter the next words to leave his mouth.
“Elrond, something is wrong.”
