Elrond could not think of what could do this to the Prince. He need to find out how it was being administered then he would know exactly what it was. But no one else was sick so poisioned food or drink was out of the question. What did Legolas do that the others did not? Haldir was always away due to his re building efforts and Aragorn alwyas had a guard with him. Then something occured to Elrond where had Legolas bathed last? Were any of his clothes recent purchases? Arwen told him that Legolas had a new tunic and he bathed in her bathing room last. Legolas, Haldir, and Aragorn had one attached to their rooms but it was being painted. Elrond examined the tunic and saw the fabric was very feminine, to feminine to be told. Arwen said she had ordered it for her but had decided to make a tunic for Legolas instead. Shocked Elrond wondered if his daughter had been the target he red red a sample of water be taken from the baths and he took the tunic. He forbade Arwen and anyone else from going inside the bathing chamber. The cloth and water tested positive for a strong mutated form of morgul poision. Now that he knew what was wrong and how it was being administered he devised a method of treatment. Aragorn, Haldir, and Arwen were shocked that the intended target was not Legolas but Arwen. Elrond informed them that now he could begin to treat the Prince and he had a fighting chance of surviving. That night Elrond began the complex treatments. It was the longest night anyone could ever remember. The treatments battling the poison causing sweating, fits of coughing, chills, and shakes. But by morning the fever that had gripped Legolas had broken everyone except Haldir and Aragorn sought their beds to rest. Haldir saw that Aragorn was very exhausted but he was trying to hide it.

"You should rest melamin." Haldir said as he pulled Aragorn to his feet and directed him to the bed Legolas slept in.

"Nay I will disturb him.....I will sleep on the couch....." Aragorn turned to go to the couch but was stopped.

"Nay. He needs us close by." Haldir drug Aragorn to the bed and stripped him of his tunic as he laid him down. Haldir tugged off his boots and socks before he pulled a blanket around Aragorn.

Aragorn fell asleep almost insatnly while Haldir sat by the bed watching over both of them.

(Legolas's POV)

Darkness there is nothing but darkness and pain. Such horrible searing pain. I can feel someone one moving me and I can hear voices but I cannot make them out. The darkness engulfs me and I am helpless to stop it. I open my eyes and I am in a great hall made of white marble beneith my feet was a carpet of midnight blue. The air was chilly and it cooled off my abnormaly hot body. Where was I? What was going on? I saw that the hall was filled with hundreds of thousands of elves. They were talking, bantering, and having a good time I felt the urge to join them but something stopped me.

"Legolas....." came a deep voice from behind me.

Turning I saw a dark haired elf standing behind me smiling in a loving way.

"Yes?" I am unable to look away from those dark, dark eyes.

"I am Mandos.......You are in the halls of waiting." he stated bluntly.

I simply stare at him in shock. Mandos? Halls of Waiting? "Am I dead?" I ask.

*No*

The word was not spoken but I heard it none the less. The Lady Valar I had met on tow other occasions stood just behind Mandos.

"Milady...Milord...." I whisper bowing as protocol came back to me.

"Once again Legolas you find yourself between life and death. Between here and there." Mandos explains gently.

"I don't want to die." I whisper as thoughts of Aragorn and Haldir float across my mind.

*You will not. We brought you here to give you a gift.*

"A gift?"

*Yes. A gift given not lightly but we know you will use it when the time comes.*

The Lady Valar steps forward and laid her hands across my abdomen, Suddenly I feel a warm sensation spread through my body followed by a horrid searing pain. I would have collapsed if Mandos had not supported me. I felt myself lean against him as the pain increased. I felt his hands brush across my forhead and heard him whispering words of comfort. After a long while it was over and the Lady stepped back smiling.

"Did it take?" I heard Mandos ask the Lady.

She nodded smiling at me in a fond sort of way. *Legolas*

I struggled to open my eyes so I could look upon her.

*I have given you the gift of life.*

I stare at her wondering if she was saying what I thought she was saying.

*Yes Legolas you can now bear life. This gift is not given lightly and is only done rarely.*

I was speechless at the implcations I could now carry a babe for Aragorn or Haldir.

*Only one other male in Middle Earth has this ability.....He will reveal himself to you upon your return to life.*

"Rest now young one." Mandos said and I felt the darkness claim me once again.

(Legolas's POV)

The light pierced my eyelids, it was bright.....to bright. I forced my eyes open and found myself staring at the ceiling. My body ached and my mouth was dry. I turned my head slightly and saw Haldir sitting next to the bed lost to sleep. I shifted and his eyes flew opened and he looked at me with wonder on his face and tears in his eyes. His joy was evident in his tone as he came to the bed.

"Legolas!"
