Living Life

Legolas sat propped up in bed glaring at the tray in front of him. He had awoken four days ago and they were still treating him like an invalid. Lord Elrond had said he was cured of the poison so there was no need to stay in bed. He had yet to tell anyone about the Valar or his gift. He had arranged for Elrond to come to him today alone so he would tell him then. He wanted to know if it was true before he told Aragorn and Haldir. Arwen had come to visit alot also, she kept him updated on the situation in Gondor. He wasn't hungry but Haldir had threatened physical violence if he didn't eat something so he munched on some grapes. After he was done eating a knock sounded at the door. He bid whomever it was to enter. The door opened and Elrond stepped inside closing the door behind him.

"You wished to see me Legolas?" he inquired polietly.

"Yes. I have something to tell you and I wish to know if there is a way of verifying it." Legolas blushed a bit.

Elrond nodded and sat in a chair by the bed, he waited for Legolas to talk.

"When I was unconsious.....I was taken somewhere. It was to the Halls of Waiting." Legolas paused before continuing. "A Lady Valar said she had given me a gift....."

"What kind of gift?" Elrond asked.

"S....She said that I could bear life now." Legolas looked down at the blanket. "I need to know if it's true or if I was just dreaming."

"I can check for you. But I can already tell you that it was not a dream." Elrond reassured him.

"How do you know?" Legolas was slightly confused.

"I have been tot he Halls of Waiting and seen of whom you speak. Once long ago after the Last Alliance when Gil Galad died." Elrons explained.

"Oh." was all Legolas could say.

Elrond stood and bent over Legolas and proceeded to examin the youg elf prince. When it was over he concluded that Legolas could indeed bear children.

"When will you tell Estel and Haldir?" Elrond asked as he brewed a tea for Legolas.

"Tonight." Legolas took the tea from Elrond and drank it down in one gulp

Elrond smiled and asked Legolas if he'd like a private dinner with his mates in this room tonight. Legolas nodded and said that he wished Arwen to be present as well. Elrond nodded and went to make preprations.

Later that evening Arwen, Haldir, and Aragorn were told to go to the King's chambers for dinner. When they arrived they saw a table set for four and Legolas was up and dressed. He looked so much better that they marveled at him from afar. Legolas turned and saw them staring and he smiled.

"Sit." He said as he gestured to the chairs.

They did so and let Legolas pour them some wine just as a servant arrived carrying dinner. They waited untill the plates were filled and the servant gone before they re directed their attention to the prince.

"This is nice." Arwen said smiling.

"Whats the occasion?" Haldir asked concerned.

"Well I have something to tell you guys beacuse it affects us all." Legolas began. "I went to the Halls of Waiting when I was sick I met a Lady Valar. I thought I was nuts until I spoke with Elrond..."

"He told you about his experience after Gil Galad died?" Arwen gently inturrupted.

Legolas nodded and continued. "She told me she had given me a gift. And I asked Elrond to verify and he says it is so."

"What is the gift?" Aragorn asked as he took Legolas's hand.

"I...I..I can now now bear life." Legolas finished.

His words created silence around the table, no one knew what to say. Finaly Arwen smiled and stood to embrace the Prince.

"That is wonderful Legolas! Now I have someone to whine and complain to!" she laughed and kissed him on the cheek.

He smiled and hugged her back joy shining from his face. "Thank you." he kissed her back before turning to Aragorn and Haldir.

The look on their faces was one of joy and wonderment. Aragorn stood and held Legolas tightly his love and joy evident on his handsome face. Soon Haldir joined them and the four of them tumbled into bed to celebrate this wonderful turn of events.
