CH 6

“What are you doing here? I am a wreck, by the Valar, how did you know where to look?” She was in shock that Legolas would care enough to seek her out.

Legolas spoke with a smile, “Why are wee? Yo? You are a brave Elf Maiden, do not cry anymore besides I wanted to speak to the Lady whom showed me up today.” He whipped away the tear that streamed down her beautiful face.

Lady Larien laughed at his much suave grace, “You are quite the smooth talker, I see, but that is okay, you are right, I did show you up today.” She winked at the Prince when she stated her last comment.

The two laughed and talked in the tree as they caught up on lost time. Haldir had gone to find his friend and he stumbled upon the two. It had burned his heart to see Prince Legolas and Lady Larien getting along so well. He thought that they would hate each other as they’ve always done. However, he knew that deep down that is who she was meant to be with, royalty, not an upcoming Merchwarden as himself.

Arwen was not far behind Haldir when she saw the two in the treetops above talking and carrying on, she said, “This must hurt since you care a great deal for my sister.”

Changing his demeanor, he replied, “Your sister rejected my love long ago and that is over, she will always be my first love. Besides, I was checking on Legolas to see if he wanted to go hunting with me.” Arwen knew that something had changed in him this very day.

At that comment Haldir said, “Farwell, Lady Arwen, I need to check on a few things. Please help your sister stay out of trouble and make sure to stay with in these walls for protection, I would not want an Orc to take you by surprise.” Arwen’s eyes got big about the Orc comment.

“You do not scare me! Besides Haldir, I know some things about you, do not ever speak to me in that tone again or I will speak to my father about sending you back to the Golden Woods.” Arwen was not going to take threats from this young Elf.

With a nod, knowing of his actions, Haldir said, “Forgive my out burst, Farewell, Lady Arwen!” She gave him a look of forgiveness and curtsied as he left.

Arwen stood looking at her sister from way up in the trees. She decided that it was not the right time to speak to her sister and thought about how it was time to start trusting her instead of protecting her well being. She smiled and walked away in search of something to eat.

Up in the tree a romance was blooming as the two shared each other’s company. Legolas looked upon the Lady Larien with much desire and want. Her spirited soul was very gift and he wanted to catch up on old times.

“Lady Larien, I see you have not changed a bit on your fighting tactic but you’ve really changed the last decade since I saw you last! As I recall that was the day Haldir asked you to marry him and you punched the poor Elf!” stated Legolas with a laugh.

Larien blushed at his comment, “Well thank you, Prince Legolas! I remember that time as well and he deserved it! He kissed me that day and declared me his wife! I was horrified because I did not want to be his wife at all.” Giggling at the memory.

“Those times were so much fun, the way we all used to get into trouble. My Father could not wait for you three to leave that summer all the pranks we pulled, youth what a wonderful time and as I recall, I took a lot of punishment for all of you when everyone left!” Legolas recalled.

“I know Arwen spoke rather freely with her comments but she spoke the truth. She was not one to hold back her feelings for anyone or others. I am surprised Arwen did not tell you about my few secrets about those flowers I left you on your balcony?” Legolas blushed for a moment.

“Really? That was you? All this time, Haldir spoke as he left those Lilacs’s for me.” Larien started to laugh, as she thought, I should have known.

Legolas chuckled as well, “Guilty as charged! Haldir always spoke very highly of you as we grew up and even now. He wanted to take credit for all those times that I would leave you little things.”

She blushed when Legolas said this, “Well he does think highly of me, I suppose. But I know he loves me, (she looked down) and would make a great husband one day but I do not love him. I do not wish to be married right now, I am to young to think about all of that, I need to experience a lot more things before I settle.”

Legolas lifted her chin as he pulled her close and said, “I know how you feel, I do not wish to settle either but if the right Elf maiden came along, I would consider.” He winked at her when he said this.

“Aye, well, I guess I could agree with that, Legolas. (With those words, Larien felt a little uneasy about the talk.) However, I must return to my sister, she must be worried sick and besides, she probably thinks I hate her for just running off like that when all of this was going on.” Larien replied as she moved from his embrace.

“Let me walk you back, Larien?” Legolas asked.

“You may walk me back but first lets get down off this tree.” Larien laughed a little as she stared down to see how high the climb was from where she was sitting.

Legolas swiftly made it to the ground before Larien did. She always liked to take her time when climbing down. Her father would always get on to her about the length of time it took for her to climb down. Larien lost her footing as she came crashing down hitting a limb or two along the way. She screamed and Legolas saw this, as he got ready to catch the Maiden from falling.

With a THUD, he caught the weightless Lady in his arms, as he embraced himself so he would not fall back. She just looked up into his eyes and smiled as a flash of redness hit her cheeks.

“My goodness, I lost my footing, I am so clumsy sometimes!” Larien stated, as her cheeks were now so red that you would almost think they were sunburn.

Legolas checked her over as he saw a leaf in her hair as he pulled it out of the honey curly strands. She stared into his sky blue eyes that were now looking back into her blue-green eyes.

Legolas said with out knowing, “Lle naa vanima (You are beautiful), Lady Larien.” He set Larien to her feet as they kept staring into each other’s eyes.

She felt strange, this had never happened to her, was this ‘love’ she thought in her mind. Legolas was thinking the same thing. She made him feel something he had never encountered with another female.

Arwen came walking up and said, “There you are, you two have been talking quite a bit and it’s getting late. How have you been Prince Legolas?” She noticed that the two had been staring at each other as they broke from their locked eyes at the sound of her voice.
