Erestor... He remembered his whisper and he knew it wasn't addressed to him. The dark-haired elf was with somebody else in his fantasy. It was easy when he didn't see Legolas' face. Yes, it was exactly as Erestor said. He fulfilled his lust for Legolas' body. He took it and Legolas acquiesced. He let Erestor use him.
The black gaze that met his eyes in the mirror took his thoughts away. Legolas didn't know how long he watched him. He smiled slightly.
"Should I leave or may I stay this night?" he asked.
The dark elf put a towel away and without he let the blue eyes avert as he approached the prince. "Did I hurt you?" he asked with his quiet voice.
Just at this time Legolas realized a silver tear dripping down his face. Self-pity! He raised his hand to wipe it away and shook his head. But the black eyes gazed at him furthermore.
Legolas turned away from the mirror to look at the real Erestor. He stroked his fair face gently with the back of his fingers. "Do you know how beautiful you are?" He stepped closer nearlychinching him with his body. He leaned in as he wanted to kiss him. But Erestor's lips were touched only by the tips of his fingers. "Who is it, Erestor? Who were you with? I know I was not that person."
The black eyes widened and Erestor shook his head.
"You must not lie to me. I agreed with your condition. I gave you my body ... but now I'm offering you my friendship."
"I've never said to anybody before what I felt. And I never will!" Erestor replied and stood back from the prince.
But his steps were stopped for a while by Legolas words: "What a shame! You should tell him..."
The fair figure with the dark hair left and Legolas followed to the bedroom. It took him a while until he found Erestor in the loads of dark silk. He slipped under the blanket. Erestor didn't tell him to leave... He moved near to him and rested on his elbow so that he could look at the dark elf. Erestor lay on his side, back to the prince and his hair was covering his face. Legolas raised his hand and pulled the tresses away. Erestor closed his eyes and snarled.
"What do you want? I don't care about your advice."
Legolas smiled and kissed his shoulder which peered out from the blanket. "I know. I have none for you. That's your job, you are Elrond's chief advisor." But his teasing tone had no effect on Erestor.
"Then what do you want?"
"I want to be here with you tonight," Legolas stroked the fair face and the dark tresses too. "I want you not to reject my friendship." He wrapped his arm around Erestor's slender body and shifted him to his arms. He kissed the exposed neck. "I know it hurts," his palm settled above the beating of Erestor's heart. "You must not be alone. Allow me."
The black eyes opened and looked at Legolas. They scrutinized the blue pools. Then Erestor averted his eyes. But the fair palm rested on the prince's hand. Legolas entwined his fingers with Erestor's. He gave the dark tresses a kiss and then he rested on the pillow and delved his face into the dark silk with the scent of green forest.
Legolas was woken up by a light movement and a feeling of vacancy. He focused his blue sight into the twilight, on the dark figure who finished buttoning his robe. As he knew Legolas was awake Erestor approached the bed. He stroked the golden face. "Sleep, it's too early," his quiet voice whispered.
Too early. Daybreak only started but the prince couldn't fell asleep again. He tossed and turned in the bed until he decided to get up. He took the gray robe from the armchair, certainly Erestor put it there in the morning, and entered the bathroom to dress. He braided is hair as usual and watched his reflection in the mirror for a while.
It was to early for the elves to be up. From the Erestor's chambers he made towards the kitchen. But there a few she-elves were firing up and chattering above the cups of tea before they will start making the breakfast. They gazed at the woodland prince, surprised when he came to ask for a cup of fruit tea. He heard their whispering behind him and he touched his neck. He knew that the stand-up collar nor his hair would cover the marked skin properly. He smiled. At least the Rivendel elves will have a topic for their conversations, though perhaps it would be the best to let the rumors die away. Perhaps he should leave for some time.
Legolas entered the quiet library and sat to the desk where he transcribed Lindir's poetry. Deep in his thoughts he started to continue his work until the last page was written. Then he put the quill aside and stood up decided. He approached the window and called at the elf coming outside to put a saddle of his horse.
He had forgotten the time completely. The sun was high on the blue sky. It was near the noon. The lunch will be served soon. He let the heavy door snap behind him and run to the dining hall. He halted just before the entrance to smooth his gray robe and hair. Everybody was in the hall, waiting for him. Under the scrutiny gazes he greeted Lord Elrond and Lady Celebrķan and took his seat opposite Elladan and Elrohir. He noticed when they looked at each other surprised.
"My Lord Elrond," he addressed to the dark-haired ruler when they finished the soup. "I'd like to thank you for your hospitality..."
"You're leaving?" Celebrķan broke in.
"I think it's time to go back home," Legolas answered and leaned over for the bowl with fruit salad.
"I hope we will welcome you among us soon again," Elrond said.
"Thank you, will be my pleasure," the prince smiled.
"Why are you leaving?"
Legolas' gaze met the gray eyes over the table. He only shrugged. "No specific reason. I just feel I should go home."
But the twins did not with his answer. When he left the hall they caugim oim on one of the sun-bathing terraced bld blocked his way. When Elrond's sons appeared before him unaware Legolas shrinked from them surprised. "Elrohir, Elladan?"
"Legolas," Elrohir bowed his head. "We missed you during the breakfast."
"Did you sleep over?" his brother asked.
"No," the prince s his his head. "I was in the library finishing my yesterday's work..."
"Oh yes, yesterday. You surprised us. You're a master of your weapon," Elrohir broke in.
"But you disappeared quickly," Elladan added.
"Too quickly," Elrohir specified. "We hoped you'd welcome your company during the night..."
"... but you disappointed us terribly. You were with someone else!" the gray eyes fixed on the mark on prince' neck. "Who were you with? You did it purpo, di, didn't you?" Elladan snarled and stepped closer to the prince. "You knew we had wanted you. You should have come to us. You wanted us, your body betrayed you. Why didn't you do it?" He raised his hand to shift the golden tresses and uncover the marked skin.
But Legolas stepped away from his reach. To his surprise Elladan didn't follow.
"My body is only mine and I will decide when and who will have it..." He trembled slightly when soft fingers caressed his injured neck. They shifted his golden hair away and the hot mouth kissed the exposed skin. If the twins did not stand just before him he would suspect one of them. But the shocked expression of their faces spoke itself. He had not to look to know who was standing behind him. He recognized the soft scent of forest, he felt his body shiver under the pungent gaze. "... and you are not the chosen ones," he finished his sentence.
"Erestor?" Elrohir addressed shocked to the dark elf. The black eyes immediately met the gray ones of the Elrond's son. They did not expect this. From all the elves in Rivendel Erestor's name did not come to their minds. The dark advisor had a piece of ice instead his heart. For all their life they didn't see him smile. Although he was their tutor they never see him get angry, seldom had he raised his voice. The only one golden-haired Glorfindel managed to disconcert him. Even their quarrels became during the time only cool logical enunciations and objections from Erestor's side. The twins knew about Rivendel's whispers about the dark-hairlf'lf's occasional lovers. But none of them confessed in public. Maybe they feared him, maybe they wished to forget about those nights. Everything was the rumors and guessed and Erestor did nothing to silence them.
That was why they gazed at him completely surprised when Erestor kissed the tip of the prince' ear. That was certainly unusual. Erestor always stood aloof, seldom had he showed straight what he had thought nor had felt, if he had any feelings... Even this time his dark eyes stayed cold. What happened between him and Legolas? Was the woodland prince one of his night pleasures? Then why did Erestor profess him? He never did such thing.
"Elladan, Elrohir," Erestor addressed the petrified twins who came round from the shock. "Could you leave us?"
They were not able to think about the reason why they should not leave. Even more the Erestor's request came in useful. Their surprise let them without words, they didn't know how to handle that unusual situation. And their exit seemed like flight to Legolas.
"Are you leaving?" the quiet voice behind him asked.
Legolas rested against the dark elf whose hands gripped his shoulders. He nodded. "I finished the book of Lindir's poetry in the morning. Few scrolls remained, the book had not enough pages to transcribe them too. I'm not running away, Erestor. I'm leaving so that I can return. Thanks to you, my friend."
The hot breath brushed his pointed ear and the lips touched its sensitive tip. "Then I wish you a safe journey home. Let Elbereth guard your steps, my prince."
The warmth surrounding him when Erestor stayed close to him disappeared. He turned to the dark elf who stepped back. The dark advisor stood in the shadow of fancy pillar that way as he always remembered him: in the black robe, long dark tresses fall over the silk fabric pulled of his face except two locks. His black eyes gleamed, so pungently that they detract from the beautiful features. A few could bear their gaze long time. But then Erestor smiled and Legolas hold his breath. He was so gorgeous! Again the prince had to marvel at blindness of the elves around him especially that one whom Erestor's heart belonged to.
A short moment passed. The fair face received its cold mask. The dark robe and the long tresses flew when Erestor turned away from him and left. Legolas turned so that he could look at the green valley with its white buildings and blue river. On the courtyard his horse was waiting for him.
"Home!" He will go back home, at least for some time...
