Chapter 8

Mirkwood

Once Legolas was in his chambers he flew to his chests and started throwing most of his thing on his bed. He knew that if he didn’t do it now he would not be able to do it later. He still had to go and give orders to his warriors and give the command to his second in command until his returned. Then he had to go and see to it that every thing was going to be ready for their coming departure.

He never knew that his Ada had sisters, let alone twin sisters. Twins were a rarity even for Elves. The only ones he had ever known of were Lord Elrond and his sons. To think that there could be two more twins out there that couldlikelike the son’s of Elrond was indeed a scary thought.

Legolas chuckled to him self as we walked over to the bed and started putting the things he lad thrown on the bed into a traveling bag. When he was done there, he went off to relay his orders to his wardens. And to get him a couple bottles of Mirkwood’s best wine to take with him.

When he got his beloved alone he was planning to keep it that way for quite some time to come. The thought of being alone with him filled his heart with joy. It had been almost twenty-three years sense he was last in the golden wood. Not to mention Rúmil’s arms. Tis going to be a journey to remember indeed.

Later after everything was done and all the preparations were complete Legolas found his Ada sitting along in his mothers gardens bathed in Ithill’s light. Thranduil had helped his mother plant this garden when they had first came to Greenwood the great. That was what it was called then. Before the shadow of evil had cast it into despair.

Once his mother had passed into the halls of waiting from childbirth, he spent all his time in these gardens. That was the only time in his life that he had even seen his Father cry. Oropher was a prideful elf, and kelp his grief well hidden to most. But the lose of a wife and his only daughter had brought him to his knees. But when Kayla came into his Ada’s life and restored hope and happiness once more, he stopped coming.

Legolas was about to turn away, not wishing to disturb his father when Thranduil called out to him. “You know I was not much older then you are when I help nanth plant this garden. We labored for weeks with just she and I. We were so happy then. Before the shadow of Mordor fall across our lives. And mother died through child birth.” Thranduil turned his sparkling green eyes to his only son, with a sad smile.

Legolas reached out and grasped his father’s hand. “I don’t know what the future holds for us my son, but I want for you to have the happiness that your nanth and I once shared.” Thranduil sighed and wrapped his muscular arm around Legolas.

“Ada when we get to Lórien I will be the happiest elf in all of middle-earth!”

“I would think that your Rúmil might disagree with that statement.”

Legolas smiled into the face that could pass as his own. There wasn’t much difference in he and his father. Thranduil was considerably much more muscular then Legolas. But the only other differences were in the color of his eyes and hair. Where as Legolas’s eyes were a deep blue. Thranduil’s was almost an emerald green in color. And his hair had more of a golden tent to it than Legolas hair did.

“Come ada it will be a long hard trip. You need your rest.” Legolas said pulling his father put from the soft summer grass and headed back into the long, and winding corridors of their home.

Lothlorien

Rúmil sat in his talan watching, as Haldir and Orophin escorted the daughters of Oropher, up to the ladies hall. A sad but hopeful smile graced his lips. Thranduil was expected by noon the next day. And by noon his heart would be singing, or another piece of his soul would slowly die.

Rúmil sighed and looked up to Ithill. Her light was lighting up the night sky, chasseing away the glom in his mind and heart. He knew he was expected to make an appearance at the celebration tonight but his heart wasn’t in it. For he could not bear for his brothers to see his despair.

‘Oh my love where are you tonight? This would be much easier to know you are drawing near. Please don’t give up on our love. If you only knew how much I miss your sweet face! You would never leave me again.

Rumil gave a heavy sigh and hopped down from his perch and started off in the direction of the kitchens to grab him a light snack before he turned in for the night.

Galadriel smiled as she watched her sons escorted the twins into the hall. She knew that she should discourage Haldir and Orophin from pursuing them, but she hadn’t the heart. She just hoped when the time came that they would leave for Mirkwood her sons would not take it to heart.

Galadriel smiled when she looked at Keira and Haldir walking hand in hand. Haldir was a very privet sort. He didn’t disphis his feeling openly very often. But when he did, you could be sure that the object of his entrusts was the luckiest elf in Lorien. Haldir knew that he turned heads wherever he went, but he chose to bed only a few. And most of the time it was not widely known.

Galadriel knew that most of all he craved love. Oh sure on the outside he was more often then not cold as ice. Underneath all that, he was a warm and loving. She was sad to say not many ever saw that side of Haldir, but tonight that side was shinning through brighter then she had ever seen before.

“What is on your mind, love of my life?” Celeborn asked wrapping his arms around his wife pulling her close.

“Haldir is quite taken with her.” Galadriel said with a smile, and a gleam in her eyes.

“Yes our foster son is by far the luckiest elf in Lorien. That is next to Orophin of course.”

“Most would say it was the other way around.” Galadriel turned around in Celeborn’s arms and smiled up at him. “Haldir and Orophin are the happiest I have seen then in many long years. But still I worry for them.”

“And why is that my love?” Celeborn asked softly kissing his wife’s lips.

“Their greatest trial is yet to come. The daughter of Oropher holds in their hands, much more then they will ever realize. They have a difficult choice to make. I pray that they make the right one. For all our sons sake.”
