In Mira’s room; Elladan stood by the door watching her rush around gathering her clothes, folding and rolling them into a size which she could carry them easily. He had tried to stop her but she refused to stop as she hadn’t much time left there.
“Mira, please just sit and rest a bit?” pleaded Elladan, watching her rush around the room. But when she refused to even listen, he stormed towards her and using his hands forced her to sit down. His hands kept her pinned in the chair. “Mira, we will not let you go back to Gondor not while my father lives!”
“I must leave while I can, Elladan!” Mira cried out.
“Mira, I will protect you! I love you! I lost my heart to you! I want you to be the mother of my children! I want you to be my wife!” Elladan blurted out.
At that moment, Faramir, Estel, Arwen and Elrond reached Mira’s chambers only to hear Elladan’s statement.
“From the moment, you entered the room tonight; my heart was lost to you. I never really loved anyone as much as I love you. I want to live with you. I want you to live by my side, Mira. Please stay with me?”
“I love you too, Elladan, but I cannot risk your life by staying here. My father will find where I am at and will kill any who block his path to me! He’ll kill you and your family. I must leave while I got the chance to do so!” Mira cried out as she looked up at him.
“Mira, you will be running for the rest of your life if you do not face him and get him sent to death for the abuse he gave you!”
“Has he made that threat before, Mira?” asked Faramir, as he entered the room.
“Yes, to me. He told me if the Hunters find where I am at and that they can not get you from that place, I will come and kill all who block my path to you and you shall pay for your resistance in coming to me by the Hunters. He never followed through with that threat but if he is released I will be in danger of being killed by him.”
“He will not succeed in doing that, Mira. My elves would not allow him to even step into the boundaries of Rivendell without being captured before he even knew what happened,” Elrond stated, calmly but the tone of his voice said everything about his attitude towards Mira’s father.
“My father will be put to death right, if I return to confront him?” Mira asked, looking at Faramir.
“Yes.” replied Faramir. He silently prayed that her testimony would put her father to death and not set free.
“Then, I shall return to Gondor and see that my father is put to death.” Mira said, firmly. She noticed the look of shock in Elrond, Elladan and Arwen’s faces. “This is what I must do. I have to confront him and take back my life, if not; I will be in fear for my life forever.”
“Then, if that is your decision, Mira. We will stand by you each step of the way. I’ll have a group of my elves accompany you and Faramir to Gondor and they will protect you while you are in Gondor.” Elrond stated, calmly.
“I’ll go with you, Mira. I will not let you be there alone.” Elladan expressed, as he held Mira’s hand in his.
“I, too, shall go with you.” Estel said, firmly.
“As shall I be by your side.” Legolas stated.
Mira couldn’t believe it – her friends here in Rivendell were going to come with her to support her during this most trying time. She hugged them all. “Thank you for your support, my friends,”
“Then, in the morning, we will escort you back to Gondor to see your father put to death.” Elrond spoke in a firm voice, looking at the group of Man and elves standing in the room.
They soon left the room. Mira rushed to the door and looked out to see Elrond striding towards the stairs.
“Elrond, please a moment of your time?” she pleaded.
Elrond stopped and walked back to her, “Speak child,”
“What if my father is set free even with me telling the Steward about his abuse of me and that he tried to kill the Steward’s own son?”
Elrond wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him. “He shall not be set free, not with what he had tried to do to the Steward’s own son. He’ll be dead when this is done.”
He coaxed her to move to the bed as he sat down on it and coaxed her to lie down next to him as he stroked her hair. He knew she was nervous about the morning; so he sang the same lullaby that his wife Celebrian used on their three children to coax them to sleep. He waited till he heard the even sound of her breathing before he slipped from under her head, pulled a blanket around her, kissed her forehead and departed from the room.

The next morning came with brilliant colors of the dawn, Aragorn was dressed as a Ranger and his dirty cloak wrapped around his shoulders, Elladan and Elrohir were dressed as they usually had on journeys. Legolas’s mossy beige cloak was around his shoulders as his bow and quiver were secured around his back.
Mira came down wearing a male style tunic made for a woman to use. She noticed the look on their faces. “It’s better for a female to ride a horse without riding with both her legs on one side of the horse due of the dress she must wear. I prefer to ride my horses with both legs over the girth of the horse.”
They didn’t say another word about her tunic but found it was good for her to ride in. Faramir rode next to Mira before they had to ride in single file to get away from the rocky cliffs of Rivendell. Mira stopped her horse and gazed back towards Rivendell where she raised her hand up and waved before she turned in her seat and encouraged the horse to walk on.
“Why did you wave back there, Mira? Elrond couldn’t have seen your wave?” asked Faramir, as he rode next to her.
“He could see the wave, Faramir. I miss him already.” Mira stated as they finally got off the single file path.
“He is like a father to you, isn’t he?”
“Yes, the only one who I even considered being one to me. He is more a father to me than my very own father, Faramir.”
Faramir smiled as he gazed at her and then noticed on the far side of the river was his men standing there waiting for him to return from Rivendell. He turned to Mira and bowed his head to her. She bowed her head as Faramir urged his horse towards the riders. They all whispered quietly for several minutes before the Men sheathed their own weapons as Faramir motioned to them to go on ahead of them.
Elladan, Legolas, Aragorn, Mira and Elrohir galloped their horses past the riders before the riders really moved in line behind them. Mira rode between Elladan and Aragorn chattering about the city and how she hoped her statement about her father’s abuse of her would send him to his death for that would clear her path to her new life with Elladan and his family.
“My lord Faramir is that Mira? The same one who you sent off to Rivendell?” asked one of his Men.
“Yes? Why?” asked Faramir, turning to look at him.
“The bounty been raised on her to a thousand gold coins. We just saw the newest scroll on her. She’s in danger, my lord.”
“Damn! Mira, Elladan, we have problems!” yelled Faramir, as he urged his mount to catch up with Mira and Elladan.
Mira watched as he galloped towards them. “What’s wrong?”
“Mira get your hood up and over your face now! The bounty been raised on you.” Faramir said as soon as he got close to her.
“To what price?” asked Aragorn, looking at him from atop his mount.
“A thousand gold,”
“My father or brother does not have that many coins to pay the bounty on me! I think I know how he’s going to get me without paying the bounty on me. My older brother Teonvan plans on killing the hunter who brought me to him!” exclaimed Mira.
“Then, we shall trick him into thinking he will be getting you only to be killed.” snarled Elladan.
“I think I know how to convince him,” spoke Mira, as she told them her idea. They looked shocked at her before they agreed to do what she had suggested as it was the best idea that they got. “I know I sound vengeful, I am serious about taking my vengeance out on my brother Teonvan, even though I cannot stab the sword into my father’s chest myself.”
“Elrohir, where did you find the wanted poster at? I’ll appear there and get him out of the city where we can show him ‘Mira’ and deal with him. They do not know me there yet.” Aragorn said, calmly but the tone in his voice was of a man who was angry, very angry.
“I’ll show you where but beyond that…it is up to you to lure that…that…Man out to our location,” Elrohir stated as he and Aragorn rode off ahead at a fast pace.
Faramir wondered why Aragorn was intent on getting the brother of Mira but the look he gave to Mira was that of concern and something else. Could this Man as old as Aragorn was to be in love with Mira? He didn’t know but he did notice the look that Mira was giving to Elladan that stated where her heart really laid with.
They rode till they could see the towers of Gondor in the distance and halted for the day as they had other plans for that night. Faramir’s men and he set up camp to look like that there was only three staying there and made sure that they were set up a bit further away and yet close by. Thankfully, the tree that grew there was a perfect place to pretend to have a captive there.
Elladan knew to make it look like Mira was held captive there; she would have to be tied up to the tree. He went to Faramir and spoke in a low voice, “Faramir, we need rope, long enough to make it look like Mira can stand up and walk around. We need her tied up to convince her brother that Aragorn has captured her.”
“I have enough rope to bind her hands to the tree with extra for her to move with.” Faramir stated, as he removed the rope from his saddle and walked towards the tree with Elladan by his side.
They tied the rope around the tree and walked just enough where the rope had some slack in it. Then, they had to convince her that she needed to look like she was tied up. She at first hesitant about being tied up but they showed her how loose the rope would really be around her wrists.
Faramir went around her to her back and gently tied her hands up. Mira didn’t like it at all as she immediately started to pace around the tree stirring the dust around the tree. Legolas voice was heard speaking with Faramir as Elladan came to Mira’s side.
“It shouldn’t be too long before night falls, Mira. If your brother is intent on getting you, he will come and right into our trap. Use this when your brother gets near you.” He whispered, as he placed a short sword in the sand in front of her.
Mira nodded as Elladan made sure that the fire was still going as the sun started to set for the night. The others faded into the darkness to wait for Aragorn and Mira’s brother to arrive. Mira sat down against the tree and just stared towards the fire.
The moon rose high in the night’s sky, the Men were restless as was the Elves who paced expecting Estel and Mira’s brother arriving. The low beat of hooves on the ground was enough to make them go quiet as they noticed two horses coming into view of the fire. It was Estel and Mira’s brother.
“Mira, it is so good to see you again. I must thank you, hunter for bringing my sister back,” spoke Mira’s brother, turning away from Mira to Estel.
“My payment would be nice. Your sign said one thousand gold coins bounty for her,” said Estel, holding his hand out.
“Oh yes, I have it right here.” He said, as he reached to his side. When suddenly his eyes grew wide in shock as he felt the sharp pain in his back; the short sword fell from his hand. Blood started to appear in the front of his shirt from where a tip of a sword was seen.
Estel noticed Mira was standing up and was behind her brother with the sword buried deep into her brother’s chest. Mira had stabbed her brother in the back and he fell to the ground face first into the dirt itself. Estel was quick to remove the sword from Mira as the other Elves and Men came into view.
“He tried to kill Estel. I had no choice but to slay him myself.” Mira said, looking at Faramir and Elladan.
“You did what you had to do, Mira. I would have been injured if you didn’t act when you did.” Estel said calmly, as he gazed at her.
“Her brother is dead, Estel. The short sword through the middle did it.” Elladan stated, after he had checked Mira’s brother for any signs of life.
“Good, I was correct about what his plan was for the hunter who brought me back to him. He was grabbing his sword to slay you with. Let’s see if he had any coins on him and how much,” said Mira, as she rolled her brother over and found no money bag on him. He was not going to pay off the bounty hunter but to kill him.
Aragorn looked relieved but then he looked at Faramir who walked towards them. “She had no choice but to slay him, Faramir.”
“I know, I saw the whole thing. Now, in the morning, we’ll travel to the castle and deal with your father, Mira.” Faramir stated in a calm voice.
“No, we leave for the castle now. I do not wish to stay here any longer than I must. I want to get this darkness over with so I may live my life in the light,” Mira said, as she looked at them and glanced over to Elladan.
