Chapter 8
Title: An Unlikely Lust (8/?)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Haldir/Thranduil, Rumil/Legolas
Warnings: AU, teasing, mild unwanted touching, graphic sex
Disclaimer: If they were mine I would be rich. Seeing as I am broke, they are obviously not mine. But good lord do they make dreams worth while!
Summary: Thranduil wants to make his feelings known and help Haldir get over the object of his affections. And Orophin and Rumil have plans for knocking Legolas down a few pegs on the ego ladder.
*****************************
Rumil sat on the grass and watched as Haldir tried to untie Legolas. Being the one who tied the knots so well, he knew he should be helping. But he was far too embarrassed to do so. Instead, he sat, legs apart, and picked at the grass beneath him.
“This will take all night,” Haldir sighed, not giving up at the task. “Rumil, where did you learn to tie knots like this?”
“I believe you taught me, brother,” he answered dryly, refusing to look at him.
“Yes, well, I believe the student has something to offer to the teacher. Mind giving me a hand?”
“Haldir, he has touched me enough for one night,” Legolas snapped. He squirmed in his binds, trying to see behind the tree at the elf slouched there and picking at the ropes. “Do you not have a knife or something?”
”Forgive me, I forgot to arm myself when I left my talan.”
“That is really helpful. I must say, it is a good thing no orcs decided to pay a visit. I thought you were always to be armed, or am I wrong?”
“You are half right, dear prince, but I did not think of it before leaving. I was trying to be quiet and leave quickly.”
“Why?”
“Because I did not want to wake…” he stopped himself quickly, his face flushing as he realized he almost gave away his relationship.
“Did not want to wake whom?”
“Never you mind.”
“Haldir?” Rumil stood and slowly made his way to the tree. “Who were you trying not to awaken?”
“That is none of your business. But since you are up and done grazing, why not give me a hand?”
“I will help you if you tell me who is in your bed this night.”
Haldir looked up at his brother, an irritated gleam taking over his eyes. “Alright, then. Why not go and get Orophin. I am sure he is armed and can cut these ropes.”
“I will if…”
“I will not go to Lord Celeborn and tell him of your antics if you get Orophin and leave my relationships be as they are. Sound good to you, Rumil?”
“Yes, brother.” Rumil sighed. He looked over at Legolas, not sure what he expected to find there. Much to his surprise, he saw a small smile coming to his lips.
“Get your brother, Rumil, I will be fine. And I will not tell, either.”
Rumil smiled his appreciation before turning to make his way up the small hill.

Thranduil pulled his robes in tighter to his body to fight against the slight chill suddenly hitting him. He had no idea where they were going, but the last two places they had checked had failed to meet their needs. He glanced over at Celeborn, silent until now.
“Lord Celeborn?”
“Yes?”
“You are quiet. What is wrong?”
“My mind is swimming. As I said… things have been very strange since you arrived.”
“Aye, I am sorry for that.”
“I am not sure it is your fault.”
They continued to walk in silence for several more minutes. Thranduil looked at him again. “You are upset with me anyway.”
“Why do you say that?”
“I have taken your lover, have I not?”
“No, you have not.”
“But I thought…”
“Haldir is to me what Legolas is to him. Someone I very much desire but who does not desire me in return. And I hope you will keep this between us.”
“Of course.”
The two stopped quickly at the sound of the bushes on the side of the road rustling. They stared for a moment, not sure what to make of it. Animal or foe?
Celeborn gasped as he saw Rumil pull up from the side of the hill. He dusted himself off and started for the road, only to freeze at the sight of Celeborn and Thranduil staring at him.
“Rumil? What are you doing?”
“Um…” He thought about the scene below and tried to think fast, hoping to not have Thranduil see his son naked and bound to a tree. “I… fell.”
“Down the hill?”
“Yes!”
“Odd. Orophin fell down the same hill this afternoon.”
“Really? Hm. Well. Being a bit of a klutz must run in the family. Excuse me, I really must be going, I have…”
“You have nowhere to go, young Rumil.” Thranduil stepped forward and looked into his eyes. Rumil began to fidget with the bottom of his shirt. “Tell me. You are up to something. What is it?”
“Nothing, I promise you!”
“I do not believe you. I would hate to have to become nasty here, Rumil.”
“Honestly, Thranduil. I did not fall down the hill. I was only… sitting down there by the trees, alone. I could not sleep.”
“Have you seen my son in passing?”
“No. No, I have not.”
“And Haldir?”
“No.”
“Where are you heading now? Your talan is the other way.”
“Yes, I know. I am going to check on Orophin.”
“I am sure he is fine.”
“Yes. But I wish to speak with him.”
“What of?”
“Nothing important. I just… I just wish to talk with him for a while.”
Rumil could feel himself getting light headed. His nerves were taking over, and if Thranduil did not leave him go soon he feared he would faint.
“Alright, then. Go on.”
Rumil sighed and smiled before bowing slightly and running off down the road. Thranduil and Celeborn watched him for several moments until he disappeared from sight.
Thranduil looked over to Celeborn. “Good. Now we can go see what he was really doing down there.”
************************
Haldir stopped playing with the ropes and sat back on his feet. Sighing, he wiped his hands off on the grass and pushed himself up.
“I am afraid we will need to wait until Orophin comes. He can cut you free.”
“Oh, wonderful. In the meantime I get to stand here naked while you drool all over me.”
Haldir stared at his face for a moment and sneered. “I do not care about your body, prince.”
“Oh, please. I know how you feel for me.”
“Yes, but I am working on getting over that.”
“It is a pity, really,” he joked. “I almost enjoy having you fawn over me. But I guess… well, maybe the rumors are true.”
“What rumors?”
“The ones that made me lose interest in you. Or any interest I may have developed, that is.”
“And what rumors are those?”
Legolas snorted. “Ah, dear elf. Just be aware I do not want to be with an elf that has been with half of Arda. I understand you do not discriminate in who you take to bed.”
“That is not true.”
“Oh no? I heard you even bedded an orc once.”
“I would never! How dare you!”
Legolas laughed. For some reason, he took great pleasure in irritating him. And he was rather pleased with his skills of making things up.
“You know, Legolas,” Haldir continued. “It is not usually considered wise to mock the one who is trying to rescue you.”
“Rescue me? You? Please! You are just trying to win me over so you can eject the orc from your bed and put me in his place.”
“There is no orc in my bed.”
“You admitted to having someone in your bed, and by now I am sure you have exhausted most of Lothlorien. So who else could it be but an orc?”
“Be careful of who you call an orc.”
Legolas stared at him playfully and batted his eyelashes. “Tell me?”
“No.”
“Oh, Haldir. I will not tell your brothers there is an orc in your bed!”
“Legolas, please.”
“Just tell me, and I will stop the orc jokes. I promise.”
“It is none of your…”
“Haldir! What are you doing?!”
Haldir turned fast and looked up the hill. His eyes locked on Thranduil’s face, stained with a look of shock and hurt. They moved to Celeborn, only to take in anger.
“Thranduil! I can explain!”
“You better start!” Thranduil hissed and started down the hill toward them.
