Elladan straightened his clothes and took a deep breath before knocking on
the door of his father’s private study.
“Enter!” came his father’s familiar voice.
Still not sure how to broach the subject, Elladan opened the door slowly and
received a welcoming smile from Elrond.
“Come in, ionen, and make yourself comfortable. I have been wondering where
you have been keeping yourself.” Elrond stretched a hand out in welcome and
offered a chair.
“Elrohir and I have been spending a lot of time entertaining Legolas. He is a
delight to be around.” Elladan explained, smiling. “It is a shame we did not
take the time to get to know him better in years past.”
“Aye, he is the most approachable of the princes: so like his mother in
nature, but he does possess Thranduil‘s temper.” Knowing his sons well,
Elrond allowed his eldest to work up to the reason for this unexpected visit.
“I imagine he is a sight when that temper is roused,” the twin remarked,
thinking he may get a chance to witness it firsthand.
“It is said that he is, but rarely has he shown it to my knowledge,” the elf
lord stated, taking the time to study his son’s demeanor.
“Father, I need your help,” Elladan said finally.
“I was wondering when you would get to it,” Elrond replied gently. “Tell
me what ails you and perhaps we can find a way to approach the problem.
Elladan tried to arrange the thoughts in his head, but it proved to be
impossible, so he decided to start at the beginning. “When Legolas first
arrived, I found myself attracted to him in a way I have not experienced since
my fascination with Haldir around the time of my majority.”
Fully aware of the outcome and aftermath of his son’s majority, the elf lord
nodded his head, encouraging Elladan to continue.
“With Elrohir’s encouragement, I took Legolas to my bed and loved him. *Loved*
him, father. It was not just an attempt to satisfy my needs,” the twin
admitted, the truth of his statement clear in his eyes. “Waking with him in my
arms - I long for an eternity of such mornings.”
“Aye, I felt that way with your mother; still feel that way,” Elrond stated,
his countenance glowing. “I will sail shortly after our return from Mirkwood.
I can wait no longer for her touch.”
“You should not have to. Elrohir and I will make our decision upon
returning,” Elladan promised confidently.
“I pray it will be…you know my feelings on the matter,” he stated softly.
“Does the prince not return your feelings?”
“I know not, father, but a life with Legolas is not possible if the news I
heard this afternoon proves to be true.” The dejection in his voice brought
Elrond to his side and a comforting arm around his shoulder.
“What news is this?” the elf lord demanded.
“Ervinai claims she carries my child,” Elladan hissed, on the verge of
tears.

Elrohir slipped off the back of his horse before helping Legolas down and
handing the care of the steeds over to the stable hands. Taking the prince’s
hand, he led them to the Homely House and paused just after entering.
“Come with me to our rooms?” the elf knight asked. “We can have a proper
soak in my tub and lounge while we await Elladan’s return. I will order some
dessert for us to enjoy with the wine left from last night. I promise you will
enjoy yourself.”
“How can I pass up such a tempting offer?” Legolas replied, smiling.
“Allow me to collect fresh clothing and I will meet you there. I won’t be
long.”
Elrohir pressed the prince against the archway and proceeded to give him a
hot-tongued, pillaging kiss. Breathless from the kiss he whispered, “Please do
not be.”
Legolas only smiled before heading to his room, leaving the twin to stare after
him. Once the prince was out of sight, Elrohir made his way to the family’s
corridor and the rooms he shared with Elladan.
Starting the water for their soak, he added sweet smelling herbs that would
relax them and lit a few candles to provide a soft glow. Elrohir did not intend
to seduce Legolas; he only wanted them to spend some more time enjoying one
another’s company. The time they spent together this afternoon had brought
them closer and the elf knight craved more. He turned off the water and deemed
it to be the perfect temperature before leaving the bathing chamber.
As Elrohir finished filling their glasses of wine, a soft knock sounded on the
door. A smile graced his features as he crossed the room to answer the door.
Finding Legolas on the other side, the elf knight welcomed him in and kissed him
gently.
“You are just in time,” Elrohir said as he led the prince to the sofa table.
“The water is perfect and I just poured our wine.” He took the clothes
Legolas was holding and replaced them with a glass of wine.
“I am looking forward to a long soak with you,” the prince said after a sip
of wine. “Today was…just perfect, Elrohir. I cannot find the words to
describe how I feel.”
“I think I understand, melethen,” the twin replied softly, his fingertip
tracing Legolas’ lower lip. “I am also in love, in case you have
forgotten.”
“I have not forgotten. There is something I must tell you, lirimaer,”
Legolas remarked, “but it can wait a while longer.”
“You do not regret telling me…,” Elrohir began.
“Ai, nay, I love you. I doubt that will ever change, my elf knight,” Legolas
stated firmly.
Elrohir visibly relaxed, but was concerned with what Legolas had to tell him.
“Has something happened since I left you?”
“Nay, I will tell you, later. Right now I am more interested in the promised
bath,” the prince said, placing his hand on the twin’s lower back and
leading him towards Elrohir’s room.

“I will assume that this is possibly true, otherwise you would not be as upset
as you are,” Elrond replied, keeping his own anger and disappointment hidden
for the moment.
“Aye, but Ervinai is hardly chaste!” Elladan protested in anger. “If she
is with child, it could belong to half of the elves in Imladris.”
“As the future Lord of Imladris, I would think you would be more judicious
with those you choose to bed, Elladan,” the elf lord remarked.
“It was a mistake, father,” the twin insisted. “A mistake I may regret for
the rest of my life. Ervinai will be here tomorrow with her father after the
noon meal. I am sure an examination will prove whether she is being truthful.”
“It will indeed, and it will also reveal if you are the child’s father,”
Elrond assured his son. “There is no need to speak of the consequences of what
may or not be tonight. Have you eaten?”
“Nay, I do not think I could,” Elladan admitted, his nerves too bad.
“Try to anyway,” Elrond advised. “I am sure Elrohir and Legolas are around
here somewhere. Join them and relax.
“It is them I dread facing more than anyone,” Elladan murmured as he made
his way to the door.

Legolas’ laughter echoed through the bathing chamber as Elrohir searched for
and found the place he was most ticklish. “I give, I give,” the prince said,
grabbing his lover’s hands.
“Now that I found it, I will use it to my advantage,” Elrohir promised,
laughing as well.
Moving out of Elrohir’s arms and turning to face him, Legolas became serious.
As he searched for the right words, the elf knight sat up and took the
prince’s hands in his own.
“What is it that troubles you so,” Elrohir asked softly.
“It is the trip to Mirkwood. There is one who will not accept…he will not
allow another to touch me,” Legolas explained, hesitantly. “You will be in
danger if he suspects anything more than friendship exists between us.”
“Who is this elf?” Elrohir demanded.
“He is the elf who claimed my majority, Thaladirith, a captain in my
father’s personal guard,” Legolas said, shuddering. “My father trusts him
and would believe the lies he will tell about you and Elladan. I know not what
he will do…”
“The elf will do nothing but taste the steel of my blade,” Elrohir
interrupted, furiously. “Nothing will keep me from you, Legolas. I love you
and will not hide that fact from anyone.”
“And I love you, Elrohir,” the prince said, kissing him gently.
“Thaladirith has yet to witness my anger, but I swear to you that he will if
he seeks to harm you or Elladan.”
A noise from the sitting room caught their attention and Elrohir grinned. “It
seems my brother has returned. Shall we join him?”
“Aye, he may need some cheering after having to deal with that elleth all
day,” Legolas replied chuckling.
Elrohir joined him in chuckling and grabbed a towel for each of them. Once they
were dry and dressed they left to join Elladan in the sitting room. Neither was
prepared for the sight that greeted them.
Elladan had just removed his tunic and looked up at them in surprise. The bright
red ovals covering his chest left little doubt as to the activities of his day
with Ervinai. Realizing his blunder, the elder twin tried to hide his chest with
his wadded up tunic, but knew the damage had been done.
Shock at the sight of Elladan covered in love bites and confusion about the
feelings he felt for the elf warrior the night before took Legolas’ breath
away. When he was finally able to tear his eyes away from the sight, he quickly
made his excuses as he made his way to the door. “I think, Elrohir, it would
be best for me to return to my room. Good night, Elrohir, Elladan.”
Elladan watched him go and sighed dejectedly. He really couldn’t blame Legolas
for being upset, but when he turned to see Elrohir regarding him with barely
repressed rage, he shook his head. “Don’t even start.”
“Don’t start?” Elrohir asked, his voice laced with venom. “Do you have
any idea what you have done? Maybe you do. Instead of being honest about what
you feel for Legolas you decided to show him that you don’t need him, that
there are others who are willing to sate your desire. I never thought you cruel,
Elladan, but what you just did is….there is no word for it!”
“You know nothing of what I feel,” Elladan hissed, his own anger matching
his brother’s.
“I know you have hurt Legolas and I do not know if the damage you have caused
can be repaired! You spoke of your feelings this morning and look at you! You
are covered in love bites from that whore,” Elrohir spat.
“She seduced me and marked me on purpose,” Elladan said dejectedly. “I
ended our relationship so I would be free to be with Legolas. Ervinai became
furious and claimed she carries my child.”
Elrohir gaped at Elladan before finding a chair to fall into. “What will you
do?
“Father is to examine her tomorrow and we will find out then if she speaks the
truth,” Elladan replied. “It is my hope that it was a ruse to keep me close
to her.”
“I pray that is all it is, Elladan,” Elrohir replied, sighing. “Legolas
confessed his love today, for me and for you. I should go to him and try to
explain what happened.
“Nay, Elrohir,” Elladan replied quickly. “That is my responsibility; I
will go and hope he will listen to me.”
