  The sun is
  setting, from deep within the forest the sun cannot be seen; the shadows cast
  by the trees are changing from green to blue.
  Fireflies dance in the summer night.
  The soft moss that covers the ground is soft, springy, and slightly
  damp. Unseen from the spot your group
  are chatting together, their voices carrying on the soft breeze. Deer are
  grazing a few meters away; frogs are eating the little night bugs that fly too
  near. Birds are singing to their mates
  as they bundle down for the night.

  The small flowers gently sway in
  the twilight and deeper into the forest your camp starts to light their nightly
  fire making the fireflies blink faster.
  The smell of cooking food drift over the mossy hill. Finally for that one brief perfect moment
  everything is silent. In that moment
  you can feel the trees breath, and hear them sigh with their old age. While other places are at war, with the
  death numbers mounting you are at peace.
  Nothing can disturb you in this moment.
  

  Like all other things the moment
  ends, and the deer run from the loud laughter coming from the camp in the
  woods. You can hear dirty jokes, and
  smell some food being burnt. You alone
  had that blissful moment, but that was enough.
  Deep within your heart you know that as long as there is a spot like
  this hill, there is still hope in the world.
  There is still a reason to trust other people; there still is hope in
  the race of men.

  You stand and rejoin the
  fellowship, where you feel truly alone.
  Your elven ears hear the hobbits singing, and it brings a smile to your
  lips. Surly if innocence like theirs
  can flourish nothing can be too bad.
