Well, we certainly had to wait a while, but this chapter was well worth the wait. I was glad to see that Legolas did not cave easily, but was horrified to see what Elrond ordered done to that girl. I have to admit, though, that after that (never mind the days of torture and time of "need" that followed) it would have been totally unbelievable had Legolas continued to resist. So Legolas was very much in character, I think - both before and after. (And what a horrid weight of guilt for him to carry! It was a mercy that the girl soon died - both for her sake, and for Legolas'.)

I have to confess that you had me fooled re Glorfindel. I could not imagine him wanting a piece of Legolas, and so had figured that Aragorn had rooked him in (to feed the spell/protect Legolas when he was gone). That Glorfindel volunteered himself to protect Legolas was noble. Now please explain *why* Glorfindel continues to serve an utterly evil torturing sadistic bastard like Elrond, because from everything else that we have seen of his character, it is incomprehensible.

Soon (next chapter?) Boromir is going to demand his "rights" under the bargain. For sure it isn't going to be (emotionally) pleasant for Legolas (ear licking or not) - it will inevitably remind him of that time of gang rape (which was probably why the nightmares - good job!), but after seeing all that he had already been through *shudders*, it does rather soften the impact of what is to come. (Or maybe this reader is starting to get numb to the horror?)

Ooh!!!!!!! Good one! I was wondering for a minute what the heck had gotten under Gimli's helm! Of course, I should have guessed it was the Ring. Can't wait to overhear that little talk Aragorn promised Legolas. Is our poor Elf in more trouble?

Dear Aislynn,
I've just read this story of yours a few days ago and I couldn't stop reading it over and over again. This is the best lotr fanfiction I've ever read. There are many chapters that made me cry. Especially whenever Legolas felt he was betrayed and distrust his master. Poor elf. I really love the way you portrayed Legolas and Aragon's characters. The former, being a slave but still graceful, the later, with the dark side which made me really want him to get heartahce and be misery for the rest of his life , yet the soft side of him made me hope that towards the end, something could change his love style and he and Legolas could be truely happy together. I won't take up much of your time to reade this so, you can have time to update the story. But I really want you to know that I do love this story and thank you for making your readers happy to read such a nice story.

Another good chapter.

Well, I'm not taken aback or even that disappointed with Gimli. It's good storytelling. People can't change overnight. These things take time. Furthermore, I know he didn't mean it when he said he is going to ask Elrond to give Legolas or his sister or nieces to him. He was just trying to scare Legolas. The influence of the ring was also partly to blame for his nastiness. The ring has already affected nearly half of the Fellowship namely Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir and Gimli. Anyway, that apology at the end make up for all the nastiness in the begining. For someone who hates elves and whose greatest chip on his shoulder is the indigity Legolas's father put his own father through, giving Legolas (an elf his disliked) such a respectful apology takes great effort.

I also like Legolas's outburst in this chapter. Although I like reading submissive!Legolas fic, I don't like reading whimpy Legolas who cried at a drop of a hat or too weak to fight back. A lot of these submisive!Legolas fic, especially the rapefic, make Legolas too weak. I like this fic because Legolas is not a weakling here. He was forced to submit due to the spell and the agreement among the elves alliance (and also his love for Aragorn), but he still retained his fire and was still a capable warrior. I love his angry expletive spilling moment. It adds another layer to his character.

So, I still like Gimli and Legolas. I think it's a good development for their relationship (not neccessary love relationship, friendship is also a kind of relationship). The apology is a good step forward and Gimli witnessed firsthand the ability of this 'weak' elf. :)

Anway, u can still make Gimli do more nasty if u want. I know whatever u make him do, u will have good reasons for it. And as I said before, people can't change overnight. :)

Gimli's behavior was shooking, but not entirely surprising. Condering what the One Ring is doing to everyone. At least he came to his sences. Once Gimli is beyond the influnece of that damn thing, things should improve. Have you considered finding a cure? I was thinking Gandalf dying and being sent back. I wonder what message he would bring from the powers that be.

You made me staay up past my bedtime last night!! *yawn* But it was worth it! Another excellent chapter. Those hobbits are just so...gods, I love them! And Sam... his protective streak is wonderful and amusing. It should be good for the poor elf. I was a little taken aback by Gimli's sudden return to hostility, until the reasons behind it were revealed, which only makes sense, so it was perfect!. *grin* It made me realize how in the movie so little regard was given to the effects of the ring on the other members of the fellowship besides Frodo and Boromir. So this is really interesting, especially with Legolas as a sort of an unintentinal catalyst for ill feelings. I now find myself thinking of all the little comments made between Gimli and Legolas in the movie or books, and all the underlying meanings behind them... I'm almost afraid to watch the movie now else I watch it with this story running in the back of my mind... but that could be rather interesting too... *grin*

Chapter 27 review...

I'm happy to see Aragorn is realizing what what he's done. My heart just aches for Legolas. How strong he is to submit to all he must.

"Whore of the Fellowship" - yes, that's about right for what Legolas should have been thinking.

And now Gimli is flipflopping a bit. Corruption from the Ring, eh? I suppose. It does make him look schizo after the gentleness of the previous chapter, though.

Boromir - why am I not surprised that he is going to hold Aragorn to the "deal"? *grumbles* There is some interesting potential in this scenario, however. Legolas is not happy with any of the warriors right now, although inevitably he will have to lie with at least one of them. While (apart from the property issue) he does have something of a love history with Estel, there is also the matter Estel's spell-induced sadism, now newly reinforced and enhanced. If Boromir keeps to his gentle bed manners, it may be that he becomes competition, of a sort, for Aragorn. (Hey, which would *you* prefer - a sadist that wants to beat and torture you, or someone that wants to pet and lick your ear? *g*) Aragorn may have more reason to regret this bargain than he now realizes.

Good on Aragorn for standing in the gap between Legolas and Gimli. It shows some fast thnking on his feet - knowing what the repercussions to Legolas and all of Mirkwood would be, if he did not stop Legolas. It also shows uncommon committment, to promise to deal with the dwarf himself. We've seen lots of good stuff from Aragorn lately - too bad that the pendulum is (because of the damned spell) going to have to swing back the other way.

I have to nitpick on a continuity issue. It gets a little confusing the way you flipflop back and forth with references to either 60 years or 80 years. I gather from the response to one of last chapter's reviews that any reference to 60 years pertains to Aragorn, but 80 years (actually over that) was the total time to date that Legolas has been enslaved. So I guess Legolas was under Elrond/the twins' thumb (whip, whatever) for twenty years before being given to Aragorn? That makes Legolas first enspelled around the time that Aragorn was born, more-or-less. Curious coincidence of timing.

Thanks for refreshing this reader's memory as to the proposed extending of the spell to a Lorien Elf.

Something that I also thought about in the last chapter (after writing two reviews I wasn't going to write yet another one!).... Apart from the initial casting, it seems that the spell has been expanded on Legolas at least four times now: for the twins, Aragorn, Glorfindel (I bet that was Aragorn's doing), and the two Rangers. No wonder Legolas was stiff with fearful anticipation! Whether or not Aragorn has any of the spell components left (something I bet would be irrelevant as you can be sure that the Lorien contingent has plenty), I can hardly see how Legolas can bear to undergo it one more time. The pain. The ersorcelled lust. The shame of being whore to yet one more person. And let's not forget the ever-tightening grip of the spell. At some point, regardless of the consequences to himself or to his people, I could almost see Legolas snapping, if faced with the "ritual" one more time. Even though the rituals for the Rangers (and, I bet, Glorfindel) were entirely for Legolas' benefit (not *quite* true this last time around), I can scarcely imagine how he brought himself to bear them. (Or, for that matter, all of Estel's cruelty.) Really, it speaks of a remarkable amount of self discipline and self sacrifice on Legolas' part - discipline to endure, as sacrfice for his people.

I just finnished reading through extending the spell. Borrmir was honnorable until he found out the conditions of Legolas's servitude, now I want to strangle him. There is hope for Gimli though

I think I need some more wine after that! lol Absolutely... perfect. I love how they finally found out about Legolas' predicament, and I really love Gimli's sudden compassion there in that last chapter. That sex/rape scene was wonderful/horrible, and I'm glad the hobbits weren't in on it. And I can't help but think; if each time someone is added to the list of people who can sate the spell the bonds grow tighter, how often was he required to feed the spell at the beginning? And woe to the elf who is made to succor others under a much crueler master! I can just see it getting to once a day, or worse! Just speculation though. I just love all the little details.
