I think I don't like Thranduil, but I *know* I profoundly dislike Meril. What a bitch.

Ooooooh! *whistles* Boy, Legolas is in for it now, eh? But I have hope. After all won't the Tawarwaith gain sympathy if he gets in front of everyone and says he just wanted to see his baby brother since he'll most likely never get another chance. Boy, that'd cause a shock with the Council. =3 Not to mention Thranduil... Guilt trip. Nyahahaha. It really sucks that Aiwendil knocked out Talagan causing Legolas to be blamed. Was noone else around to refute it? I mean other than Legolas' friends. And I really dislike Meril. Aside from her scheming when it came to becoming the king's new consort, she really just gets under my skin. I love Legolas' new siblings, but Meril really sickens me. -_-; Ugh. Especially her awful lies now. Legolas was not threatening the child in the least and she darn well knows it. X( grrr.... Anyways. You have me on the edge of my seat (as always) XD I hope you give us more soon. So the meeting was finally called, eh. This should be good. *shivers in expectation*

Well, I've certainly missed a few exciting chapters, haven't I? I loved the interaction between Legolas and his siblings, very touching. The part where Glorfindel caught Elrond off guard was certainly a spicy moment, very nice. And so, Erestor finally gets to meet the Woodland King. Yay. I hope you don't plan on ing ing Erestor off, I've really come to love his character in this story.

    Chapter 56
Where do I even start with this chapter. It was wildly beautiful from start to finish. Wonderful descriptions from the twins points of view. The sweep of what they can see of Middle Earth from where they are and the emotions it evokes in them. The swords and horses being so at one with elven kind and adding to the twins quest for Celebrian's honor. I think you may be the first writer to depict them as I see them in my mind's eye. They were not fun elves at this point in their life. They were dedicated to death, honor, the advancement of their foster brother's destiny, cleansing Middle Earth of Sauron's filth. I could just feel that from your chapter.
I really liked the fleshing out of Elrohir and his attitude and feelings about the Greenwood and it's inhabitants. He yearns to have the truth about Elured and Elurin and know that they were rescued by the green elves and saved. Kept hidden, kept safe. This is a new thought to me and I like it. I hope you weave this into your tale here. You always have these side issues that you blend in so smoothly making the story organic in nature. It grows in the telling. Not just in a linear fashion but just as real life would if we wrote it down.
Also Legolas as their kin. He needs some good, decent family but he doesn't get it. I liked that Elladan agreed with Elrohir because they both have the same POV being twins they can just feel, sense and commune so they are in sync about things in their lives. I really got the sense of that.
Well the 'Lorien courier made it with his news but the Imladris courier died trying. I hope she had a nice parchment note that Glorfindel is taking to Elrond at a most inopportune moment.
What gives with this Elf Lord? Has he been driven crazy after all these years? I could see his problems with Gil-Galad first and the death of the High King almost depriving him of his life. Then that little mesalliance with his two women. That in and of itself is enough to drive an elf completely out of his mind. Too many years of machinations, deprivation and no tlovelove has had it's mark on Elrond Peredhil hasn't it?
I really love that Elrond is obssessed wih Legolas. Tortured by the thought that he will never get to touch the prince again. I hope he never gets to torment Legolas again. Elrond is into too much torture and pain for him to get his hands on the prince. Legolas needs someone to love and cherish him not abuse him more and more. Yet Elrond realizes he can get compassionate acceptance from Legolas. Does this bother him? Does he not want this? Does it make him feel weak or ineffective somehow? He needs to figure all this out so he can move on and quit being so weird here.
That was a great ending. He was strong and weak at the same time and hating himself for it. Then lo and behold, Glorfindel, who is worried abourondrond anyway, sees the whole thing. He is going to want to know what is going on so he can help. I don't think anyone can help Elrond until he takes a good, long, hard look at himself.
Wow. What ride. You have written another chapter that hits with the force of a sledgehammer. The last time you did this I was a depressed wreck. This one was very dynamic and I loved it. giggle

Wow!! Another update so soon!!!!! I didn't even have to go back to read the previous cha to to remind myself what had been going on this time!! :)

I absolutey love Feud - your talent for characterizations is amazing, and your telling of Legolas' struggles in his tragic situation keeps me completely captivated. This has been a nice respite for him - I can't wait to see what you do with Erestor, and the Council! Part of me dearly hopes that Legolas doesn't succeed in protecting his siblings - I want the truth revealed so badly!!!!!!!!!!! :)

And how's ol' Elrond doing? Is he starting to feel any guiltier about his actions? Regretting losing Erestor? It'd be satisfying for Glorfy and the twins to discover something of the side of him that isn't quite the distinguished, compassionate Elf Lord they all know and love.

Thanks again for entertaining me, and know that I eagerly await your next update!!

    Chapter 55
I can't believe this! I just wrote out a brilliant review full of piquant, poignant emotion. Dwelling on the deepest held myth and folklore of bygone times and linked it brilliantly with your tale. If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. I did revthouthough and got the too busy signal so here goes again.
When I saw the title I got a little sick in the pit of my stomach. He gets caught.
So Taurant is the image of Thranduil and Legolas is the image of Ningloriel. So the king dotes on himself and hates his Queen's image. That figures.
The picture of Legolas totally at ease with his siblings being a far cry from the hurt soul of a few weeks ago was just great. Sigh. He has had so few good moments in his life and this is one of them even though it is stolen.
Now that was a good Gwilwileth paragraph. She senses their bond and feels his soul's regeneration with their strengthening bond. Tame ame way she can feel the bond she has with Lindcalon and Taraunt. I really enjoy those little elf moments you give us. I thought the wanting her brother to "get" these words and names so that he can enjoy her clever word games and eventually join her in them was just precious. These moments make me like her more. Maybe she is too much like her mother for me to totally fall under her spell because she can be charming but very spoiled.
Now we get to the angst. He needs their love so much but they will feel abandoned when he leaves as he must. Gwileth feels his pain and does the only thing she knows how to do to make her brother feel better. How sweet.
Poor Erestor. He is really paying for his attempt to help here. I did like the Istar ordering Thranduil around. He has had enough and even if Legolas tries I don't think either wizard would really want to stop this inevitable explosion.
Now unfortunately this leaves Meril at loose ends. She really has the king by the balls doesn't she. Talagan is on the hit list now. Past friendship and loyalty will mean nothing to the King's Consort.
I was very glad when Lindcalon stood up to his mother. He hasn't approved of anything she has done since his father's death and yet has been forced to live a life that is based on lies. How galling for him.
OK Well that was as ugly as I thought it would be. I thought she would eventually scream and get the guards or something. At least Legolas was spared being dragged from the room and thrown into the dungeon. He may make it there yet if Meril has anything to say about it and she usually does.
She is like a trapped rat here. This whole conversation just showcases why I dislike her so much. She uses her children as a shield, an excuse for her actions. When she lost Lindcalon's father she used her son's future as a way to get a toe hold into the royal household. She used the close proximity to the king to seduce him. Once she had a place in his bed she produced a child and then a son and heir. She is poised to get what she wants and that is to be Queen, if she isn't already. I'm unsure about that. All she does is in the name of her children but it is her power and position she is angling for. Her son the future king is just her son the gold ring she has snatched while riding on the royal merry-go-round. That is why I can keep up a real boiling hatred for her. She has this love of the king thing going on here but I feel it wouldn't matter who was king she would still pull the same tricks. Any love she shows for Thranduil is based on the fact that he is king.
I think at this point it is too late to stop this avalanche. It has been slowly picking up speed and if you get in the way it will just run over you at this point.
Fearfaron is ready to come forward with the man as a witness, the Councilor I elf is ready to wrest some control from the king, Erestor would dearly love to say his bit and get the hell out of Dodge and the two Istari are going to meddle in the affairs of the elves. A shocker right there. No, whether the king wanted to stop this or not I just don't see it happening.
I am rubbing my hands together here and gloating. I don't know what you have in store but I hope it is crushingly wicked. giggle

    Chapter 54
Sorry this review took so long. Real Life is so pushy sometimes. That gives me the chance to do two reviews at once though so that is good.
Legolas is not nearly as healed as he thinks he is although he is under the gun, sword ?, timewise here. So it was now or never.
I liked his thinking he should learn more about Fearfaron. He seems to have taken the carpenter as father very seriously. That is sweet in a way. He needs a father since he has never really had one.
I actually got tears in my eyes when he thought about how the king had never touched him, did he ever beat him? or utter his name. That was a very hard moment to acknowledge for both of us, reader and protagonist alike.
Circumstances never under his control and clearly not changeable now. I am sure that his upbringing was very limited. He would have been instructed by tutors and masters in the skills he would have to know to be king one day even though the king didn't intend him to live that long. It would have been odd if he hadn't been trained. I think he is beginning to realize what this limited education has done to him, as well as his limited emotional upbringing stunting him.
He doesn't want this to happen to his new brother. He doesn't want this to interfere with his first meeting with his new brother. It would cloud their relationship forever. If they are even allowed to have a relationship.
Oh I hated the dread and sloatloathing that oc whe when the king is near him. So this is where all that self loathing comes from. His earliest life. Sigh. But he has endured worse than the king. Well he has now and he may not believe this but he is stronger for it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. He hafferffered so much but he hasn't faded. He is tough. He has to be.
Knowing how hard it is to break those awful childhood patterns he doesn't want to mar forever his relationship to this new l Wh What about the discord he suffered in his life? He cares for Taurant when no one cared about him. Yet Taurant has so many who will care for him. What love he can show. If he could truly have someone to love what depth he could experience.
OOH He almost blew everything with that giggle. I think the baby knows he is there and wants to meet him. The king changing swaddling. Why do I want to hurt this elf so much even though you have shown a loving kind side of him. It is as if that makes everything he has done even worse. If not for this elf's ignorance Legolas' life would be far different.
Ah Legolas gets some reverie. The first since meeting up with Elrond the Rat Bastard. I enjoy that you do show that elves don't have to "sleep" the way humans do. They are like the Energizer Bunny and just keep going and going. They do need reverie but in a pinch they can do without for long periods of time. This is true reverie not blacking out like he has done because of his exhaustion. Now the three searchers can know that he is OK since he is in contact with Mithandir, but that is about it.
This part was very interesting. The Istar participating in reverie as few of even elven kind have ever been allowed. This let Legolas draw on Mithrandir's wisdom and strength for some very heavy soul/fea searching.
First he could separate himself from the new prince. He could see that his life and the new elfling's life would be far different. And far from being galled and unhappy he is OK wthisthis difference. This elf is not normal let's face it. Everyone gets on his case about being the slayer of elves but he can rise above that and see truth. Wow.
Ningloriel - He can see her flaws as a mother and the fact that she wasn't there for him and if she were still in Arda she would still not be there for him. He would still have a deep longing that would not be filled. I want someone to love him before this is over so he can feel at peace. Or maybe not till Aman, only you know.
Elrond/Malthen - Two more Rat Bastards. Are mostthesthese elves Rat Bastards? This lover/father thing would drive any mortal of today right into therapy for life. I don't blame him for not wanting to deal with this on the verge of a very important meeting.
Fearfaron - OK you can have Fearfaron fill the void in Legolas' life. This actually might be a good thing. The carpenter is not a biased elf. He has nothing to gain in this little internicine kerfluffle we have going on here so he is the perfect recourse for unalloyed love for Legolas.
Lindalcon - He is becoming a true brother to Legolas and won't let his father be forgotten or any of the other warriors when everyone else just wants Legolas dead and the whole matter swept under the rug. Good for him.
Meril - I know the king called her Queen of the Woodland Realm but she is not really Queen is she? She is the King's consort and since she is a wood elf her son could be the next king. But in Valinor Ningloriel is still Queen. I think the king can divorce her but has he yet? I don't think so. Anyway I hate her too even after that lovely "she did what any mother would have done. The best for her son." I still hate her and don't care. She has traded her son and his happiness for the position of consort and two more children, one of whom may one day be king. How she can think this is in her first son's best interests is beyond me. The king would have him killed if he could and he can. He almost got away with killing his first born son. This elf-king is good when it comes to intrigue.
Gwilith and Taurant - They would simply not exist if Legolas had not been banished and all this had not happened. But their existence does not equal out the death of the three warriors. So after weighing all these matters he decides things must remain as they are. He will forgive his father, the king. He will even try to countervene the Valar if he has the power. My goodness. I am gobsmacked with his qualities of goodness, long-suffering, kindness, mildness and wisdom. Holy Cow. He is too good to live in Arda he belongs in Aman.
Gwilith is certainly a precocious elfling. So far I think she has behaved like a little stinker but maybe she will impprove with age. I hope so. I did like that Tauron was the little one now not her thank you very much. She almost let the cat out of the bag with Limlas. That was a giggle moment.
I enjoyed Lindaclon not giving in to the king in any way and then your portrayal of Meril as a good mother. I still hate her. I can do that.
It was as if the elfling knew Legolas was there and was just waiting to meet him. So sweet. Elflings are much more aware than human babies are.
I really loved the last paragraph. Fea to fea, blood brothers committing this meeting to everlasting memory. That was beautiful. Or at least it will be unless Legolas gets thrown into thegeongeon for this caper.
I really appreciate how you continue to make your characters lifelike and give them depth. No one is wholly without some factors that make the bad they do believable. No ogres just very flawed and selfish, for the most part, elves. They have reasons for what they've done, good or ill and feel justified in these actions even when in fact the actions are so bad.
Your writing skills are really increasing in telling this tale. The depth of your characters is growing and the intire arc becoming very complex. I don't mean that in a bad way but this is not a simple story. I think you should try to write something professionally you are that good. giggle
