*YEAH* A great chapter! I am interested now in this contest lol. Although I think Rain will win either way lol. I would not mind having elrohir and Legolas be my slaves and I would not mind being theirs LOL! Hope you post another chapter soon. I love this story! Great job at writing it. Will Rain and Legolas hook up soon?

I'm really impressed w/ your story. Unfortunately, I can't make any real comments because I'm not a particularly great writer, even worse at editing and completely hopeless at revising or making suggestions to others. However, I do like your story. If you want help w/ something, I'm unlikely to be much help, but I could try. As you might have guessed from my name, I'm a cadet in the ROTC. If you need any help w/ AF stuff, I could try, but you seem to have it down cold. Again, cool story.

I'm going to be honest with you, and I hope you don't think less of me for it, but I hate this plot. Now, before you get angry, let me clarify what I mean. The slightly wistful tone you have obviously implicates that this fic is...perhaps a reflection of one's self? In my personal OPINION it comes off as unoriginal, or if one was to change persepectives, more sci-fi in a strange way, mincing mythic past and our present. Unfortunately these flaws become glaringly obvious in a fandom such as Lord of the Rings simply because of the wealth of information Tolkien created in Middle-Earth. It's as difficult as writing a historical novel with the amount of history and facts which must be included in your writing. So, at least on that count, you've done a good job there trying to portray a modern day girl in Tolkien's complex world.

Though your story comes off as a mary-sue, and, as pervious visitors have expressed in varying degree of tact and tactlessness, those sort of stories carry a negative brand, sometimes rightly so. It is as one person previously said: 'done to death.'

With my critique done, however, you do show a good grasp of literary skills. Just because not everyone likes this, myself included, doesn't mean you should stop writing. Critique (even flames) are a part of a writer's life, so if you plan to utilize your talent at any time, this is good practise regardless of content.

Besides, we're all entitled to our own little sins, are we not? >:)

    Keep writing!

Love it, love it, love it!!!! From a military brat, married to miliary (now retired) with a son in the miliary on his way to Iraq, Rain's actions, reflexes and conditioning speak volumes. Love her character (AWOL my foot - just TDY to Arda. Gandalf should be able to come up with orders.)

Now I'm going to get a little picky - please pardon a former Creative Writing Professor. Please proof a little closer. Have noticed words being left out that will help sentence flow. Other than that, no problems. As for flamers, remember "Those who can, write. Those who can't, flame." Of course then there are ones like myself. I can't write, that's why I taught Creative Writing. I know how to do it, I just can't get it going.

I also love your A/N just about as much as your fic. You have a very dry humor that I find extremely entertaining.

Just remember, "Flamers will be doused with water and returned promptly." Keep younse nse of humor. Don't acknowledge flamers, just delete them. I know a lot of fic sites have a flamers list and it someone lands on ore ore than a couple of times, they are locked out. I'm not a computer whiz but they can lock their address out of the site. Some even share flamer lists and the culprits find themselves locked out of their favority stomping grounds. You may want to check into that.

Hope it won't be too long for update but am willing ait.ait. Know how working, going to school and keeping a family life can be hectic without trying to write fic on top of it.

Oh, Gee I should have gone to bed hours ago. I started to read this fic and did not stop till I was done. I love your original character, I guess it is hard to come up with an original character without being flamed about them being a Mary Sue. I found Rain to be a strong likeable woman who hurrah can take care of herself but not be invulnerable. You have also added depth and dimension to the other characters in your fic. The sub-plots you have created are also turning out to be very interesting. I really like books and stories that thrust the main character into an unfamiliar place and time. I have a large collection of said books. The flamers who have complained about this plot device should look at a lot of popular fiction. It is a storyline that is used a lot by many different authors with great success. I look forward to the next half of this story. Pay no attention to all of the flamers they do not even bother to constructively critisize (I know I know I spelled this wrong but I have been up for 22 hours and desperately need sleep ;) they just whine and say horrid things. Well they can just read something else and not be so petty. Keep up the good work.

    Peace,
    Amy

I think this story isderfderful! Don't listen to those idiots who insist on flaming. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why people cant grasp the consept of "if you don't like it, don't read it." It pains me when some blockhead flames ignorant comments at the author of a great fic. Please continue this intriguing story! Shanastay recommended this story and I am impressed. I started it yesterday and just completed everything you have so far.

    Thanks,
    Talasi
