This story has been floating around in my mind and demanded to be written.
It features a darker Elladan than we are used to and a young vulnerable Legolas.
For the purpose of this story, I have decided (with some advice from the great
and wonderful Min.) that the age of majority for an elf is 500 years. Legolas
will reach his majority during the year of their betrothal. NO underage sex!!!
NO non-con and NO rape!!!
Feedback: Would be wonderful and makes me type faster!
Summary: Elladan goes out on patrol while Legolas studies with Erestor.
After lunch Elladan and Legolas meet at the training grounds and things get
heated.
Chapter Five
To Legolas' great relief Elladan was sent on a three day patrol. The elder
twin would miss the archery demonstration, but Elrohir attended and was well
impressed with the skill of such a young elf. Many of the off duty guards
attended and they surrounded him with questions on the best stances and release
techniques. The prince was more comfortable then than he had been since his
arrival in the vale. Glorfindel planned to discuss arrangements
with Elrond for Legolas to help the archers when the prince had some
free time.
The days passed quickly for Legolas as he spent his time exploring Imladris.
The many waterfalls enchanted him as much as the forest and the songs they sang.
The trees in Imladris seemed to have a happier melody than the ones in
Taur-nu-Fuin, and he gladly joined them in song as they welcomed him to their
forest. Too soon it was time for Elladan to return and though Legolas dreaded
their meeting, he would do his best to make his father and the people of his
homeland proud. On the day he was to begin his lessons, the prince nervously made his way to
the library wondering what would be expected of him. To his great surprise,
Legolas actually enjoyed his morning studying with Erestor. The older elf
explained things much better than any of his former teachers, and the prince was
able to pick things up quickly. The only problem he had was with some of the
Quenyan. With his accent, it was difficult for some of the words of the ancient
language to roll off his tongue.Erestor was impressed with his new student and made sure to keep things
interesting for him so he wouldn’t lose his hunger for knowledge. Too soon the
noon meal bells rang and they walked to the dining hall together talking about
the things Legolas had learned during the morning. With a sigh of relief, Elladan was not in the dining hall and did not arrive
during the meal. This left him relaxed and able to speak with those around him
about a variety of subjects. Legolas was curious about the absence of the twins,
but did not dare ask out of fear of embarrassment.Lady Celebrian sat next to him and asked after his comfort. The prince had no
reason to complain about his accommodations; they were far more luxurious than
any he had at home in Taur-nu-Fuin. Legolas would not tell anyone that bit of
information, not because he was ashamed of his furnishings at home, but because
he felt it best to keep some things to himself. There was a difference between
the elves who resided in Imladris and those who resided in the forest, after
all.Lord Elrond asked after his studies, but before Legolas could reply, Erestor
was praising him, which caused him to blush. If there was one thing the prince
hated, it was blushing anytime someone complimented him or when he was caught
unawares daydreaming about a sweet elleth or a well muscled warrior he saw.
Legolas quickly pushed those thoughts away and started following the
conversation around him.Arwen was too busy eating to ask him any more embarrassing questions. The
elfling did give him a sweet smile and wave at him from across the table which
he returned. It was not in Legolas’ demeanor to be unfriendly or cruel to
anyone, but he could think of one elf who could bring out the worst in him, and
that elf was Elladan. The prince could not understand why the older twin seemed
to hate him, but he remembered his promise to Mithrandir. Legolas would try his
best to befriend Elladan. It was that thought that finally had him asking about the elf warrior. The
prince knew the patrol returned that very morning. “Is it usual for Elladan
and Elrohir to miss the noon meal?”“Nay,” Glorfindel replied with a worried frown. “They usually return in
time to enjoy the meal before carrying on with their afternoon duties.”“Should I have a something prepared for Elladan? We are supposed to meet at
the training fields after lunch and I would not want him to be hungry.”“That sounds like a lovely idea, Legolas,” Celebrian said with a smile.
“I will have the kitchen prepare something and you can give it to him when you
meet him. You are very kind to think of him.”Several moments later Legolas was armed with his weapons and food for
Elladan. Of course he brought some juice along to wash it down with. As he
waited at the field, he allowed himself to look at the beauty of Imladris. The
wide open space was hard to get used to, but the prince could see himself being
comfortable here. A gruff voice brought him out of his musings and he nearly
jumped when he saw Elladan standing before him.“I thought I told you to be ready to train after lunch,” the elf warrior
snapped.“I am ready,” Legolas replied trying to remember he wanted to befriend
Elladan. “You missed lunch so I brought you some food and juice. Are you not
hungry?”If the prince hadn’t been looking at Elladan’s face he would have missed
the look of surprise that was quickly masked behind narrowed eyes. “Aye, but I
do not need some half grown wood elf looking after me,” he said hatefully. “From
now on, just be here with your weapons so we can get started. I have other
duties I must attend to besides looking after you.”So this is how it is going to be, thought Legolas. “As you wish.”Elladan looked at the food and at Legolas once again before speaking. “Practice
with your bow while I eat this. After that we will select a sword for you to
try. Have you ever wielded a sword before?”“Only on occasion. My skill with the bow kept me from learning more about
wielding swords,” Legolas answered honestly. The prince started practicing his archery while Elladan ate and watched.
There was nothing he could teach the prince about the bow, but the elf warrior
was sure he could learn a thing or two from Legolas. His stance was perfect, as
was the fluid movement of his hands. Elladan suspected, but would never state to
Legolas, that he was more skilled than the ones who trained him. He was
certainly more skilled than any here in Imladris. As Elladan continued to watch Legolas, he noticed more about him - like his
golden hair and the way it fell down his back. The strong shoulders and forearms
were so unusual for an elf so young. His lithe body would fill out, but he would
still be small compared to himself and Elrohir. When Legolas was fully grown, it
would be a mistake to think him weak or delicate. Well formed muscle would be
hidden under his attire, and woe to any who treated him untoward. When Elladan realized the path his thoughts were taking, he nearly chocked on
a piece of bread. Legolas rushed to him and hit him on the back several times
until the elf warrior signaled he was well. “I think that is enough practice
with the bow,” Elladan remarked, his voice rough from coughing. “Let us go
to the armory and see if we can find a sword small enough for you.”“Small enough for me?” Legolas asked defensively. “I am no weakling
just because I am smaller than you.”“Aye, but a sword must…never mind,” Elladan said nastily as they walked
into the armory. After picking up several swords and eyeing Legolas, the elf
warrior finally settled on one he thought the prince could wield without any
problems.“It is light,” Legolas remarked after taking the sword from the twin.“Later you will think it is heavy,” Elladan remarked with boredom. “By
the time our training ends you will barely be able to lift your arm.”Legolas gave him a look of disbelief, but Elladan only shrugged.“I don’t care if you believe me or not,” the older elf smirked. “It
is only my job to teach you and that is what I will do.”When they made their way back to the training grounds, Elladan showed Legolas
some of the basic moves and made him practice them until he performed them
perfectly. It was then that Elladan pulled his own sword from its sheath. “Now
we will try those same moves, but with me attacking you.”Legolas wasn’t sure he was ready for Elladan to attack him with a sword,
and he briefly wondered if he would live to see the morrow. He took a deep
breath and nodded his head to let the twin know he was ready.Just because Legolas was new didn’t mean Elladan would cut him a break. He
came at him fast, and as the prince tried to perform the moves he had been shown
he was easily overcome; the sword lay on the ground at his feet. Legolas was
greatly disappointed and knew the twin hadn’t been fair, but when he heard
Elladan’s laughter he lost his temper.“You think that’s funny?” the prince asked angrily. “Even after
knowing I have not wielded a sword you come after me like you would your
brother?”Elladan was laughing harder now and holding his stomach. Legolas’ anger
amused him all the more.“Let me tell you something, *Elladan Peredhel*,” Legolas said
advancing on him. “I am neither a weakling, nor am I stupid. I will not
tolerate being treated as you have since I arrived. I have done nothing but try
to be pleasant to you and you act as if I am some sort of disease!”“You are a disease,” Elladan replied with a smirk. “You are a *wood
elf!*“And you are rude and a disgrace to your own father!” Legolas countered
as he swung his fist.Elladan might have been able to stop the blow if he had seen it coming, but
Legolas moved so quickly that the only thing the twin could do was grab his jaw
and try to shake the stars from inside his head.“Let me know when you have gained some manners, *half elf*,”
Legolas said as he walked towards the Homely House. “I will be waiting.”Elladan growled and tackled Legolas, running at full speed. Curses and oaths
were heard from both of them as they tried to out punch one another. Cuts,
scrapes, black eyes and busted lips were given as the two continued to fight.Thankfully, Glorfindel and Elrohir happened to hear the scuffle and pulled
the two apart. Legolas, as small as he was, almost escaped Glorfindel’s hold,
and Elladan was threatening Elrohir to let him go or else.“What is going on here?” Elrond asked as he arrived at the scene.“I am afraid young Legolas became tired of Elladan’s rudeness, or that
was what I heard as I approached,” Glorfindel reported, still holding a
struggling Legolas.“The spoiled brat punched me!” Elladan said in his defense. “He said I
was a disgrace to you, Father!”“And you said nothing to start this?” Elrond asked with a raised eyebrow.Elladan looked away and stopped struggling, but Legolas’ temper was roused
and he was not ready to calm down. “He is offensive and rude!”“Aye, that he is,” Elrond agreed. “Take Legolas to my study. I will
treat him there. Elladan, go to your room and I will speak with you about this
matter in private. Elrohir, make sure he gets there.”"Looks like you lost your bet with Bargon and Maethoron," Elrohir
said to Glorfindel as they led their charges into the house."And you lost your month off,"
Glorfindel replied with a smirk.
