This story has been floating around in my mind and demanded to be written.
It features a darker Elladan than we are used to and a young vulnerable Legolas.
For the purpose of this story, I have decided (with some advice from the great
and wonderful Min.) that the age of majority for an elf is 500 years. Legolas
will reach his majority during the year of their betrothal. NO underage sex!!!
NO non-con and NO rape!!!
Feedback: Would be wonderful and makes me type faster!
Summary: Elrond speaks to Legolas and Elladan separately about their
fight. The Binding Contract is signed with all interested parties present.
Bargon and Maethoron collect on a bet.
Chapter Six
Elrond entered his study and motioned to Glorfindel that he would like to
speak to Legolas alone. The blond warrior excused himself and after patting the
prince on the shoulder left the room.
The elf lord gathered his healing supplies and started to clean Legolas’
wounds. “You will have a black eye and your lip will be sore until tomorrow
evening. Explain to me what caused you and Elladan to get into such a fight.”The prince winced when Elrond cleaned his lip with antiseptic, but recovered
and began to explain. “He has been rude to me since my arrival and I have been
trying to befriend him as Mithrandir suggested. Today he showed me some moves
with a sword and then proceeded to attack me like he would someone with
experience. Of course I failed and then he started laughing at me. When he
called me a wood elf as if it was some sort of disease, I had enough and punched
him.”“And he retaliated?” Elrond asked, already knowing the answer.“Yes, he tackled me from behind,” Legolas stated angrily. “Lord Elrond,
I respect you and those of your house, but Elladan went too far this day. I
apologize and ask your forgiveness. I will accept any punishment you deem
necessary for my actions.”“Before we speak of any punishment you may or may not receive, I need to
explain some things about Elladan that you are not aware of,” Elrond replied
gently. “Are you willing to listen and perhaps take these things into
consideration the next time you become angry with my son?”“Aye, I will listen, hiren,” Legolas answered wondering what he would be
told. “I made a promise that I would try to get along with Elladan and
anything that you can tell me that will help me do that, I am interested in
hearing.”“In their youth, we sent the twins to visit their grandparents in Lorien
for a turn of the seasons. While they were there a young wood elf named Tholvel
befriended Elladan. They spent hours playing and plotting as all young elves do.
Elladan shared his deepest secrets and plans for the future with him. He even
gifted Tholvel with his favorite dagger. One day Elladan came upon his friend
telling the other wood elves that he did not truly care for Elladan because he
was Noldo, but spent time with him so he could receive the gifts the twin
bestowed on him.”“Elladan was crushed because he had shared things with Tholvel that he hadn’t
even shared with Elrohir. After that day my eldest has not trusted another elf,
especially a wood elf. So you see, Legolas, Elladan was not always this way. I
remember him when he was carefree and trusting, full of laughter and joy. I miss
my son and regret that you did not know him then.”Legolas wasn’t sure what to say, but felt he should make some kind of
comment. “I will try harder, hiren,” he promised softly. “I do not wish to
fight with Elladan, especially since we are to be bound. I would rather spend
eternity with a friend than an enemy.”Elrond smiled at Legolas and squeezed his shoulder. “We must sign the
Binding Contract soon, ernilen. It would be best if you arrived looking better
than you do right now. Go bathe, and we will talk about your punishment after
the contract has been signed.”“Thank you, Lord Elrond, for everything,” Legolas replied as he made his
way to the door. “Please forgive me for acting out in such a manner today. I
will do my best to see that it does not happen again.”“Very well, Legolas,” Elrond replied with a small smile as the prince
left. Now to deal with Elladan, he thought with a sigh, and headed to his son’s
room.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~By the time Elrond made his way to Elladan’s room, Elrohir had Elladan’s
wounds cleaned and was applying herbs to the cut on his chin. When their father
entered, both twins looked at him and Elrohir excused himself so Elrond could
speak to Elladan alone.“I expected better from you, Elladan,” Elrond began with a frown. “What
must Legolas think of you now that you have treated him so rudely?”“He punched me…” Elladan started, but was silenced by his father’s
raised hand.“After you attacked him with not only a sword, but with your words and
laughter, as well,” the elf lord replied. “This alliance is no more to his
liking than it is yours, my son. You have to find a way to forget your
prejudices and try to get along with the prince. Your bond will be for eternity,
and that is a long time to hold something against someone when they have no
control over the situation.“Legolas is kind and caring, but he is also young and it will be up to you
to help him grow into the elf that will hopefully help save the world as we know
it. I know you have it in you to be the kind of elf you were before Tholvel took
it away from you. You must search within yourself and become that elf once
again. Perhaps the Valar chose Legolas because they knew he would help you find
yourself again. Give him a chance, Elladan. For your sake and for ours. We miss
you.”Elladan turned to stare out the window as his father spoke to him. It was
true that he had become bitter and enjoyed life less since the wood elf from
Lorien used him in his youth. The elf warrior had never trusted another elf
again, especially a wood elf. Now he was being forced to bind with a young
princeling from Taur-nu-Fuin of all places. Wood elves were becoming the bane of
his existence.“I cannot promise anything, father,” Elladan said softly, “but I shall
try to treat the prince better.”Elrond nodded and squeezed his son’s shoulder. “That is all I can ask of
you, my son. We must sign the Binding Contract this afternoon. Make sure you
change your clothes and are on time. We will discuss your punishment for your
fight after the contract is signed.”Elladan nodded and watched as his father left his room before turning to look
out the window once again. Could he forget the past and get along with Legolas?
Is the woodland prince the answer to the loneliness and sorrow he has suffered
over the last several centuries? Could he let go and trust someone again? The
elf warrior was doubtful that a young prince would prove worthy enough for his
trust.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Bargon and Maethoron entered Elrond’s office and smiled when they saw
Erestor and Glorfindel sitting comfortably in two of the chairs in the semi
circle.“It seems Bargon and I will be traveling home with nice shiny new daggers
from Imladris,” Maethoron remarked with a grin.Erestor looked up and chuckled as Glorfindel frowned. “I thought Elladan
would be the one to loose his temper first. I can’t believe he provoked the
young prince enough to take a swing at him,” the golden warrior replied.“Legolas inherited his father’s temper and has not yet learned how to
control it,” Bargon answered with a grin. “I knew it was only a matter of
time before the young lord’s behavior pushed the prince past his limit.”“We have quite a few daggers to show you after we finish with this contract
signing,” Erestor volunteered. “Of course they are all finely crafted and
the best to be had. I fear Glorfindel may weep as you choose the ones you like.
He is quite fond of them.”“Do not listen to him,” Glorfindel replied laughing. “Erestor has his
own favorites and I fear he will try to throw you off the ones he prefers by
pointing out my favorites.”“In the end it will not matter,” Bargon chuckled. “We will own daggers
from Imladris and be the envy of all at home.”The door to the office opened and Elrond entered followed by Elladan and
Elrohir. The elder twin had a black eye and a cut on his chin, but even so, his
beauty shined through. Bargon and Maethoron shared a look and wondered how
Legolas’ wounds would look. Before anything could be said, the door opened once again and Legolas stepped
into the room. His black eye was worse than Elladan’s and he had a busted lip.
It was certainly not what most elves looked like when they were about to sigh a
Binding Contract, but everyone figured it was enough that Elladan and Legolas
were in the same room.Elrond cleared his throat before reading the terms set forth in the contract.
Provisions were made for Legolas’ youth and any conduct that would threaten
his chasteness before his majority. The prince blushed becomingly at having such
a provision read aloud as Elladan scoffed at the need for it. It was not like he
was going to get close enough to Legolas to even touch him in an untoward
fashion, much less in a way that would cause anyone to question his virginity.Elladan was asked to sign the contract first and he quelled his urge to shred
the offending document into tiny pieces. Once his signature was witnessed by
Erestor, Legolas was asked to add his signature. The prince signed his name in
the appropriate place and Bargon applied his signature as a witness.Ornate mithril rings were exchanged, to be replaced with golden ones on the
day of the actual binding. Under the circumstances the elves present skipped the
traditional toast to the betrothed couple, and words of congratulations were
absent as well. The ring on Legolas’ finger felt heavy and he wondered if he would ever get
used to wearing it. It symbolized something he wasn’t even sure he wanted, but
the Valar had demanded it. In his heart he had always hoped for love, and now
that hope was crushed.Elladan tried his best to ignore the weight of the ring on his finger, but
there was something about it that kept his eyes glued to the silver band. His
life would never be the same again and he wondered if he could learn to get
along with the woodland prince he was now betrothed to.
