Pain, the screams of another. These are the only things on his mind as he reaches for his...friend? Brother? He cannot recall. All he knows is that he must reach the other before the blood loss takes them. Grasping the others' hand, blood covering his eyes, he can barely focus on the younger face covered in stubble...before his vision fades and he hears the final exhale of the other before he collapses, never to awaken again...
Fili sits up with a jolt, gasping for breath. He can never remember the events that lead to the same dream he has every night. Rubbing his face, exhausted, he looks towards the mirror, taking in his disheveled, sleep-deprived face. His long blonde hair is hanging around his frame, his beard grown and mustache unkempt. Fili knows he should shave soon, but he cares not as he stands to get ready for work.
Pulling his hair back in a loose ponytail at the base of his skull, the blonde thinks to himself. Why was he having these dreams? Why did he continuously see that face in his minds eye, so struck with pain and grief that it is all he can do to reach for it? These thoughts plagued him every single day. All the way through.
Work was slow when he arrived, pulling his apron over his black, button up shirt. Falling into routine, he barely registers anything but his work and his own personal thoughts.
~~Kili's POV~~
For some reason I can't grasp, I'm staring up at the sign for the coffee shop. I feel drawn to it, although I rarely drink the stuff. Subconsciously, I run my hand through my shoulder-length, loose dark hair and then over my stubble. All these motions, even the fact that I'm unable to stand still, they're all natural actions I take on when nervous. I suppose I should enter before it becomes suspicious why a grown man is standing in front of the door, looking ready to fight or flee. Entering the store, I realize exactly why I was so nervous.
Standing behind the counter, with that bright smile, joking persona, and swift motions is the man I have been seeing in my dreams for months. His name, I cannot remember it from my dreams but the closer I get the more enraptured I am. I take a seat by the window, only to watch, nothing more. I see the way he bends, the way he holds out his hand, I hear the smoothness of his voice and it takes all of my willpower not to let out a sob. He's real, he's real! He isn't just a figment of my imagination! I'm so deep in my thoughts and observations of him that I do not notice when a waitress approaches my table, I do not even hear her speaking until she waves her hand in front of my face. I feel my cheeks burn with embarrassment I as look up at the woman.
~~Fili's POV~~
There's a slight commotion, I look over and see Tally (her name is really so long I cannot care to remember it all) trying to get a customers attention. Amused, I turn my gaze to the customer and nearly drop the coffee pot in my hand. True, his beautiful face is red with embarrassment, and he seems to be fumbling over his order, but there's no mistaking it. This is the man from my dreams, the one I refused to let die alone. The voices of the woman in front of me is muffled in my ears as I hand the pot over, distracted, to a coworker and mumble something to him as I slip around the counter and walk straight for the table.
Needless to say, Tally is surprised when I approach, but that is nothing compared to the expression of pure...lust? Want? Relief? It seems to be all together on the mans face. I'm speaking before I even register it.
"Tally, want to go help in the kitchen? Bof called in sick." Her protests fall on deaf ears, and within moments I watch her walk off. I'll make it up to her later, I muse as I turn back to the familiar stranger. His eyes burn into mine until I remember why I came over.
"So what would you like to---" "Dinner." I blink, staring at the young man, unsure if I heard correctly.
"what?"
~~Kili's POV~~
"Join me for dinner tonight." I can't believe I said it, I can't believe he's standing right in front of me. His surprised expression turns to one of amusement.
"Well as lovely as that sounds, don't you think you should worry about breakfast first?"
I stare at him, I can't help it. He's been on my mind for so long, it's like he's just a figment of my imagination. My hand moves on it's own and his own, I notice, reaches for mine and grasps it. The touch is so familiar, so calming, and then I suddenly have flashes in my head. Images of two writhing, scratching, biting, pleading...and when I come back to myself I see it on his face. He saw them too.
~~Fili's POV~~
My breath is heavy, I don't know where that came from! None of my dreams before had ever been more than the usual ones. I feel his hand squeeze mine, and I'm gasping the name quietly, desperately...
"Kili..."
His eyes shine in recognition, he knows. I don't know how but I know he feels the same. My eyes close tight. There's no way I can deny this feeling, this...recognition. I can't bring myself to let it go. It takes all my willpower to open my eyes and not make a scene in the small coffee shop.
"I get off at 6."
I stands and leans forward, his whispered response almost threatening, promising.
"I'll be here." I swear my knees almost buckled as I nod, watching him walk out. My jaw is slightly slack until I see him stop outside, the door and rub his face in relief. What am I getting myself into...
